  1. Sold my 1999 outback sport today with 47k on it. Last week I picked up a 1997 legacy outback with no rust. In the last week I have swapped in a 2.2 with new seals (crank, cam, valve cover), and all the timing belt goodies, new clutch, new knock sensor, swapped in a good used radiator, all new brakes, forester wheels, studded snows, replaced a couple bad sections of the exhaust, and replaced rear deckled shocks!
  2. I took this into work today (I had a long weekend) and got around to doing somethings that I have been meaning to do for a while now. My e-brake was so misadjusted, that it was hardly doing anything anymore. So that is now adjusted. I also got to wash the salt off the car, that had been stressing me out. I can say my undercoating job is holding up very well, so hopefully that will keep the rust at bay for a while. I also have been having an issue with the clutch peddle sticking to the floor. It turns out that it was the helper spring. I removed that and it works so much better! I also took this out of the outback i just picked up... I'm thinking about building a 2.2/2.5 hybrid out of it...
  3. I probably won't use them after they come off (I still have another car that runs 4x140), I do however like to hoard my ea81 wheels.... I'll have to think about it. I may feel poor enough after buying the new wheels I want I may need to sell them
  4. Those look awesome on an ea82 ! I absolutely love mine. It takes a while to get used to where they are, but after you get used to that, I think they work very well.
  5. I'm not really sure, I didn't pay much for the car it was $250 with a parts brat. I'd say right around $1950, that also includes me buying the loyale. It's nice doing all the work myself as it takes a while for things to add up. This next round of upgrades will be fairly pricey, just because the amount of stuff I will have to buy/the rarity of some of the parts.
  6. Thanks man! I'm super pleased with how it looks! So I priced out new rear backing plates for my upcoming brake swap. Holy crap are they pricy. 120 each from subaru, and that is with my discount from work. I'm hoping I can find some good used ones, as i will have to cut them up for this swap anyway. I have some good plans for this car this winter, and I can not wait to start in on them... Newer gen disc brakes front and rear, with outback dual piston front calipers, and rear e-brake stainless brake hoses. 5x100 lug swap new wheels to go with the swap, I'm currently looking at Enkei RC-G4's or Gold RS five spokes I'll have to do something with the front suspension to accommodate for the new spindles Fuel injection swap Hopefully I'll start stripping my Loyale down this weekend, and start on the injection swap. I have two 4 day weekends in a row, so hopefully I can at least get some parts on the way!
  7. Did the grill swap on my wagon today. I think it qualifies for this thread!
  8. Big update! I got the new grill installed today. I wasn't really planing on doing it today, but I didn't have much left to do on the vw, and really wanted to do something to this today! The last time we will see it looking like this! A lot of cutting... New panels welded in place. In primer Painted! The new look! Unfortunately I had to delete my ea81t oil cooler as it interfered with the new grill brackets. I may relocate it, or put an after market one on in a different location. Up next five lug swap!!!
  9. Last parts came in today for the grill swap! A big thanks to ShawnW! Now I just have to get the beetle out of the garage and I can start swapping grills over!
  10. For my GL (an earlier model than yours) the front two mounts on the Recaros were perfect and just bolted in to the stock locations. The rears I had to make brackets that mounted between the seats and the factory bolt locations.
  11. Some super nice cars. I wish we still could find GC's on this coast in that nice of shape I loved my 97 coupe. I just picked up a 99 outback sport with 47k on it, but with the rust it has it might as well have 300k...
  12. I like the LS's as well. I have Recaro SE's in my GL, and absolutely love them. I'm sure with either choice you will be happy. Awesome car by the way!
  13. Mine only had outback suspension in it, but it was great. I took that thing everywhere, and anywhere. Those trans mods will be amazing, I always wanted to try it on my last one after reading about your loyale, but I decided just to swap this on as I had all the parts! The turbo grill is one of my favorite parts of this car so far. They really should have come with them from the factory. I have all the parts to make a hood with an outback scoop as well. That will be next after I finish up some of my other more urgent projects.
  14. Thanks Bratman! No problem, glad you found it useful My hids are wired off from the stock light switch, and get power from the battery. The angel eyes are hooked into the parking light circuit That way I don't have to remember to shut them off! Using a spare set would be wise as you won't have any down time, although it really only took me a weekend to do this. My last legacy I lifted. I decided I wanted to go a different rout with this one. I really did like the extra ground clearance, but I like the wrx kyb's in this one a lot!
  15. I would recommend doing it 100% I made one mistake on mine in that my cut off isn't 100% because my projectors are tilted slightly as I aimed them with the lights on the floor and not in the car so they meet like this /\ (not that extreme but they aren't perfectly flat in the car). But they are a vast improvement over stock (not that it would take much ) Here's some pics and info of the process. Started by baking some spares in the oven and removing then lenses. Then spent hours sanding down the fluting on the back to make the lenses clear, getting the corners semi smooth was a chore in itself. Ended up using a combo of a dremel and a 90* grinder with a fiberglass pad on it along with some hand sanding including 80 grit to start and 180, and I think I finished with 400. Then I used a 3m headlight buffing kit on both the inside and outsides of the lenses. These are the projectors I ended up getting. I had to grind out the back of the bucket to fit the new projectors. Painted the chrome black along with the projector housings. Then I put them back in the oven to reheat the glue, and put the lenses on after epoxying the housings into the buckets. I also ran a beed of silicon along the bottom of the housing, and between it and the bucket to prevent vibration. And thats about it besides some wiring.
  16. Got my new radiator and silicon hoses, and installed them in my wrx. Hopefully I wont have any more issues with cracking radiators!
  17. I've always loved the rally wheels on the ea82's! It looks great!
  18. That's awesome. Great to know. Mines leaking now so I need to do something.
  19. I need to make at least one of these!
  20. Yeah I can't wait for it! What did you get? I need to put mine back together I broke a track clip up your way last year. It ate my sliders away so I need to spend a day getting it back to spec.
  21. Thanks man! We just got a couple of inches. About half of it has melted at this point. The problem was it rained a bit before and we had a nice layer of ice under the snow. People were sliding everywhere. I was glad to have studs! I can't wait to get more! I just hate the salt that comes along with it.... They waisted no time getting that down last night.
  22. Got some snow last night. The roads were quite bad, a lot of people were off the road due to ice even the plow trucks were having issues, as usual the Subaru had no issues at all  For some reason this car always looks better in the winter.
  23. Ordered a new all aluminum Mishimoto radiator for my wrx. My stock one decided it didn't want to hold coolant anymore yesterday on the way into town. I also got all new hoses for the engine and radiator along with it. Now I just have to wait for them to come in
  24. Looks solid for something kicking around up here! I picked a loyale last week, unfortunately it is far too rusty to save, but I can now fi swap my ea81! Speaking of which that was a Rescue... It was brought to VT by a collage student from CA and left for dead when the "transmission went bad" $250 for the car and some shifter bushings later it was driving around. This was it back then. And after some love
