It's looking good man! You should repaint the trim pieces on the bottoms of the doors. The sunken in sections are supposed to be black originally, with the raised sections sanded to to metal. I repainted my 82's over the summer and they made it look so much better! Keep up the good work!

And you are very lucky that your pump doesn't leak I have some new old stock stuff to fix mine with this time around, but I have to put an engine back together first. Unfortunately this project keeps getting pushed back. I just picked up a 72 beetle convertible for free, so I'm going to be doing that next so I can sell it an make some money for this and my other stuff

Haha, that's the idea for my other one after a new shell :cool: I'd like to do a small lift and decent tires. This one can stay on 13's I have no intention of making this a 4x4. I'd have to find a gas tank (one of the things wrong with my other ea81) and that's pretty much impossible up here I already have all the other stuff... Plus with the fuel prices going up I couldn't be happier that it's fwd should make a great commuter for work this summer A/C and all

Please do! I'd love to find a new set to replace these! Otherwise I don't know what I'm going to do next on this one. I have some 15" steel peugeot wheels I was thinking of running, but I really like the new wheels...

Thanks everyone! I got the coopers as a christmas present when I was 15 for my brat, shortly after they were discontinued. I've had them for quite some time, I'd say they are on their last summer or two now. I really wish I could find another set because they look so nice on my ea81's :(

I got mine from a local parts store for my 82 looked just like that. You just leave the trans cooler lines unhooked. I think mine was around $130 by the time I got it, so the price seems decent.

Thanks! They are a bit wider than the stock ones, and they stick out a bit more as well. I really like them on this. I just ordered my center caps, and can't wiat for those to come in.

Well the wheels are on! Parts store had the lug nuts in stock walked out 44 dollars later with 16 lug nuts, and 3 wiper blades and here's the result.

This x a million. The last thing you want is a pile of rust that doesn't run. I tend to get discouraged on my projects if they don't look pretty, or run and move (usually the running and moving is priority) Spfi would be awesome on an ea81, I dream of that swap, finding an EA82 up here has become hard to find. The ones that are rotted have all been crushed, and there are non that haven't rotted...

I went and grabbed some lug nuts off from a parts SVX I have kicking around thinking that they would fit do to the size, and having the washer type nut. Well it turns out that I need another type of nut they were too big, and didn't even fit in the wheel. I'm going to take one of them into town tomorrow, and see if I can get something for them, and hope to get them mounted up and balanced at work tomorrow.

Yes you will. The front will have to be bent a bit to match up the front, they are a little short as well, but I've used them on both of my ea81 wagons and they are much better than making your own. The rear fits very well around the arches. Make sure you space them far enough away from the bottom edge of the door, my 82 are too close and they squeak all the time and it drives me crazy :-\ If you have any questions about them hit me up, this time around mine came out pretty well. Best pic I have of them after paint, and body work. Here's where the front has to be moved in a bit. I used a hammer, came out okay after some welding and rock guard. You could also cut the rockers at an angle so the front is closer to the body than the rear. I didn't think about this until after mine had been welded on :-\ And this is where i cut mine off. I did this to prevent the door to rocker noises.

This is so awesome. I got my rockers from rustrepair as stated a few post back. This is in far better shape then my red ea81 wagon, and about the same as my brat. You should be able to tackle this. I would wait until the new rockers come in before you start removing metal, just to see where your at. The glove box mirror is pretty rare, I have one on my 82, and the ea81's with A/C have dual radiator fans, my FWD has that. Also I'm very jealous of your interior, I would have loved to start with one that clean in my 84

Ebay it was! This is the size I need, but there are other sizes as well. I'm not sure if they fit pugs, if they did i'd look into getting another set for the 15's I have :cool: We have them in my dad's Porsche 914 (suby swapped of course) on his five spokes. Rockers aren't that bad to replace... I consider that minimal rust on an ea81 I've done a few at this point, but you can't really ever stop the rust once it starts. And chances are there's rust around the front seat mounts and the outer edges of the floor if the rockers are gone.

Yeah I have only seen one other set on here. They remind me a bit of rally wheels, probably the reason I like them so much (and painted them gold) Turns out paint caps are too small for these wheels, so I'm going to put the wheels on and take some measurements (so I don't run into clearance issues with the cv nuts) and I think I'm going to be getting these, but in black as they make them in a 70mm size And I can pull some subaru emblems off from old center caps and epoxy them on

I was going to measure them, and find something on ebay. I've used spray paint caps in the past and they look okay as well They are listed as an aftermarket 15 spoke on the Subaru of the 80's site. On the back they have xoki stamped on the back, but I have yet to find anything on that. Still 13" but I don't mind.

Yep. I used enamel model paint. Holds up well. I did it to my brat, and my other ea81 wagon and they still look good. When it starts to fade just put another light coat on and you're good to go!
