  1. Love your coupe too, and the hatch for that matter What are the plans for the coupe? I haven't heard you talk about it in quite some time. And I think brown would be the way to go with the wagon, it would look very nice!
  2. I pulled two engines this weekend getting ready for a 2.5 to a 2.2 swap at work, another person that didn't know what a temp gauge was And I oil undercoated my legacy with bar and chain oil. Winter ready now, good thing we have already got our first snow
  3. Awesome info, mine is 2x4 as well, but I'm happy about it! I will be doing this after mine gets painted for sure, but I may try to figure out a coilover of some kind,
  4. You picked up a great car ! Wish mine came with a third peddle so I didn't have to swap it a week after purchase I feel the first gen legacy is the best car subaru has ever made, I've had two both with over 200k and I've had no issues with either of them. Wonderful to own, and even more so to drive
  5. Got my rear window replaced today, $75 to have a used one installed, far better than having me mess it up I also touched up some rust spots started on the hatch, and painted the now added wing.
  6. I just broke the rear window in my lego, and had a replacement glass on another hatch ( the hatch was in worse shape or I would have swapped the whole thing). I used four guitar strings and broke everyone of them, gave up with those I cut a throttle cable out of another car I had, and that worked much, much better, just a thought if you run out of them!
  7. Looks awesome, How did you lower it? I'm in the process with my 2x4, and you have about the exact ride hight I'm looking for!
  8. Hey Pete glad to see you on here!!! I'd tell you how jealous I am of your wagon, but you already know Keep at the good work.
  9. Yep those are the years. I've seen more on the GT's than any other wagon of that vintage, but I've also seen them on the base models, I think they were an option on all the wagons so just keep an eye out for them.
  10. Yesterday I put a 97 LGT rear spoiler on my 92 lego in doing this I had to weld the old dust deflectors holes shut, this lead to a problem.... I also added a sway bar (it didn't come with one) off from a 97 outback, it handles much better now. The wing The sway bar And the problem welding on my hatch lead to... Luckily I have a parts car and I took this out of it this morning....
  11. Mine had the dust deflector and I had to fill those holes. I drilled new ones in the hatch for the new wing using the hardware from the deflector I had to cut the screws down as they were too long. The spoiler is off from a 1997 legacy GT wagon I've seen them on outbacks as well. Apparently they are pretty rare, I felt a little bad cutting it up, but it was well worth it, I don't plan on swapping my first gen legacy for a second anytime soon.
  12. As promised I added my rear LGT wing.I almost blew my rear window into a thousand tiny pieces, as I was welding the holes where the original dust deflector used to mount a piece of slag rolled down the rear window, stopped mid way, and started to burn through it. It didn't break but left a decent enough mark... I hope it doesn't brake this winter as it does not look fun to change. Anyway some pics. Not really a lot to it Paints to come. Not sure if I want to keep it red as it looks nice with the flaps, or black for the tailgate, or white for the car These are the only modifications done, I cut the edges to fit over the trim, ground down the front edge so I could open my hatch, and used the four screws that held on the original dust deflector. It fits really well. I love the looks of it
  13. A lot. I don't even know where to begin... These are the current ones. 1982 GL wagon 4x4 It's now getting very rusty, thinking of getting a new shell and swapping everything over. It looks good, but underneath is another story.... 1984 GL FWD Wagon. "the cali wagon" My 86 Brat, in the process of an EJ swap. 1992 Legacy with a ton of newer parts swapped on. 2002 WRX mostly stock. And a few of the one's I have sold. 1992 4eat Legacy LS with ob suspension (Spiffy) 1992 SVX 55,000 when I sold it five speed swapped (should have kept ) 1997 Impreza Brighton AWD 223k when sold and the wrecked by the next owner. And My old Brat sold a few years ago death by rust shortly after. I've had many, many, more that I have fixed and sold, but these are the ones that I have driven and owned longer than to just fix and sell. Not bad for a 19 year old
  14. Nope he had his repainted a couple months back. It's a Lexus color, the paint came out awesome from the pics I've seen. I'm going to be looking into the rear wing this weekend. I'll post pics and such up if I get it all done.
  15. I've asked him about it, he said he used double sided tape (3m) I have one I've modified (cut the original mounts off from) that I'm going to be adding to mine soon. I don't like the dust defector that's on there now anyhow. And I agree, having eyed both of those cars over on the local forum they are beautiful.
  16. Looks good I like the deeper gold color. I also like the front lip they put on that!
  17. That's some very good work, You and I are basically doing the same thing, my car has just been neglected for a lot longer Great work! And keep at it. Hope you find an new engine soon!
  18. I always think that the metal work takes the longest, and then I get into bondo, and prepping for paint.... A lot of time to be spent here. Luckily this car is pretty strait, only a few dents here and there to fill, smoothing up the rockers where they connect to the car, other than that it's just disassembly, and sanding. after that it gets covered in primer, that could be as soon as the weekend after next. after that a light sanding, and the real deal paint. Pics so far Mounted the trim on the bumper today looks nice. I took it back off to paint it The door that needs the most work.
  19. I should have used a hole saw... I'll know next time! And thanks for the compliments Loyale 2.7 Turbo! Got two wheels today I'm looking for two more if anyone has them pm me I'm more than interested. Other progress has been slow the body work always takes the most time. basicly I took the doors off and started fixing the rusted one, and prepping the rest. They all had rock guard on the bottom, which I guess is okay, I'm not a fan of the look, but it needed to come off for paint, so after some sanding those are all good. I've moved onto bondo now.... The rustiest door. A bad pic but it's cut out and new metal welded in. The rest of the doors have some rust, but I sand blasted it, and I'm going to por15 over it. It's not bad enough I feel I have to cut the bottom of them off like this one Bedlined the front bumper came out nice. The rear will be done soon, I just have to drill some holes in it to mount a trim piece I found that will match up to the tailgate nicely. And I also sandblasted some of the rust spots around the rear windows, this created an issue because the metal was too thin. I then had to weld it all back together. Here are the pics after the holes were fixed.
  20. Pretty much any ej seat is a bolt in. I don't know about the newest ones, I just found the wrx ones for a good deal and I find them to be the most comfortable so I put them in. Plus I have some back issues, and anything I can do to help I do. Mine came to me as an auto, although the 4eat is a really good transmission, I couldn't take another auto I'm not a big fan of them as well.... I swapped it about two weeks after I got it made the car 100x better.
  21. Sure do, and they were a bolt in swap, I had to swap out the seatbelt latch on the seat for the legacy one as they changed them between the two models, but other than that the bolted right in! As for the shifter, I take it yours is if a five speed? Mine does that as well, I was thinking about replacing the engine mounts with something a bit more sturdy, the early legacy ones are very flimsy. They engine mounts can be a PITA to swap out in the car I've done it it's okay with a lift...
  22. This is what I do as well. My wrx, gl wagon, and brat all go off for the winters, and the legacy comes out for the winter. And I only have two at a time insured max. I'm usually working on the others while I'm drive the other one or two
  23. I used the rear lip, side skirts, painted mirrors, and it still had both of the badges on the back which is rare in itself, so both of those are on. I would have loved to swap the front bumper (it's different for the L, and looks to be about the same as a turbo front bumper) but it got torn in the wreck. I'm thinking about swapping over the door handles when I paint my current car, but that won't be until next year at this point. Other then that stuff I swapped on some newer parts, such as wrx seats (best thing I've done) wrx struts, and newer outback front brakes which have dual pot calipers, instead of the factory singles, in doing that I had to switch to 15" wheels though. All have been really good upgrades.
  24. Welcome aboard! And nice subie, glad to see someone else up here with an old gen! There's a place that makes new rocker panels for these if you are interested. Takes a while to make them up and ship them out, but I've found them easier to work with then making my own! http://www.rustrepair.com/app2/onlinecat.htm?p=sm-subaru Keep us posted!
  25. Nice car! I have it's twin, same color and all, but it's been parted due to a front end collision. Very cool you found a gt, they are super rare. I transferred all the parts onto my 92 L, I just don't have to cool roof...
