  1. Are your hazards working? Mine were not and the seat belts didn't work. They run off the same fuse. It's one of them in the fuse box under the hood. And the computer that controls them is under the drivers side rear speaker I believe. (I looked into this thinking mine was something more than a fuse ) Also when I was doing some research, other members told me they could have stopped working due to corrosion in connectors that are on the passengers side of the vehicle under a trim panel. Here is a link of what other members told me! Hope this helps! http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=117517
  2. Oh sorry they were 15" 505 Steel wheels.
  3. We go quite a bit up here too! This was a small storm we had a while back we have well over a foot now! This car is amazing
  4. I used stock Subaru lug nuts on my ea82 with 15 inch pugs, but they had a tendency to loosen up. I used the car for off road use only so it didn't bother me as it was all low speed, but I don't think I would trust them on the road. My .02 -SB
  5. I own many engines similar to this. There was another company off from Borgward / Lloyd. There was the Goliath. I happen two own one. The were horribly unreliable mine only made if 14k before it was parked and is now another one of my many projects, but I think the best rout to go would be to put an ea81 in it an be done with it. It's an 1100cc h4 with about 46 hp. I have one of the rare dual carb setups that had 63 hp! Also mine is the only wagon in the US know to have a sliding canvass roof! -SB
  6. More Progress today! Got the trans in! Looks like the mount will be pretty easy to make as well! The mount on the AWD five speed is really close to the location of the original Brat one! Oh and I started a bit of this today as well
  7. What I have seen happen with mine is one of the pins in the linkage wears out and makes it flop around. I have drilled out that pin and put a bolt that's thicker through it and that seems to help quite a bit. Mine is doing this right now too, another thing I need to add to my list of things to fix
  8. It had a knock sensor on the block and it had a plug for it! Okay cool, I can get diagrams pretty easily. I have access to All Data at school so hopefully it has the correct pinout and diagrams for a brighten 1.8 !
  9. I have a 1997 OBDII impreza 1.8 harness that's going on my Frankenmotor in my 1986 Brat. Would the pin out be any different than an OBDII 2.2? I looked around a lot and couldn't find anything on the pinout of an ej18. Also I have been told that the ej 1.8 never came with a knock sensor, but my harness defiantly has one could this be because it's an OBDII? I'm really using this harness because there is a lot less to it than some of the other ones that I have. If anyone has some insight or a pin out that would be awesome! And if there is any reason I shouldn't use this harness I would prefer to hear it before I start in on it as I have 4 2.5 harnesses right now I can tear into. Thanks ahead of time -SB
  10. it's upside down in the pic. The hump faces the ground on those bars by the sounds of things. -SB
  11. As I'm doing an ea82 control arm conversion right now I can tell you that the ea82 sway bar will not fit with the new control arms alone. the ea82 subframe is wider. The sway bar ends up being a little over an inch short or something like that. Also the ea82 sway bar mounts to the front of the subframe so the mounts would have to be fabricated or cut off the ea82 subframe. In short it's much easier to run with an ea81 sway bar. -SB
  12. This is no problem for me! My dad has a custom exhaust shop! Also I have an ea81 turbo sway bar so I may run that... I'm more worried about the rear.
  13. Did it seem to make a difference or was it about the same as the stock one? -SB
  14. They look like ea82 seats out of a newer GL. Nice ride I love my 4x4 gl wagon! -SB
  15. +1 to the weber and the five speed! But damn you got a nice ride! Congratulations, I will give you a banana for a good purchase -SB

    Frankenmotor Brat....someday

  17. Yeah I knew it was going to be a project, but I wanted it. Plus I only have one five speed D/R and I really want that in my wagon! I was also prepared for the CV's being to long. My dad modified a set for his Porsche 914 with a 2.5 so we have a history with that sort of thing, and the drive shaft should be easy enough. It will all just take time. The fab work isn't really a worry to me, just the wiring Thanks for the input as always! -SB
  18. http://z15.invisionfree.com/Mv_Brat_Brumby/index.php?showtopic=82&st=0 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=117101&page=3 Here are a couple links for the build up so far if you feel like checking them out! -SB
  19. Yep, the braket bolts right on the block I even used on off from a new style 2.2 like an 2002 and it was the same! The clearance is about the same on the drives side maybe a little less. -SB
  20. Sounds SWEET! I can't wait to see pics! I love my 84 2x4, I love the gear ratio as well. I got in the mid 30's the summer I drove mine so I would think you could pull if off no problem!
  21. Thanks for the complements! Always nice to have some encouragement. Anyway some more progress today!! All new timing components Turns out that the tensioner bracket is different between a 2.2 and a 2.5 so beware if you are making a Frankenmotor, the cam pulley will not go on if you have then one off the 2.5 Sweet new clutch!
  22. Ahhh I didn't realize that bit. Sorry for the bad info -SB
  23. Haha I would tell you if it had any sort of drive train the frakenmotor may go in today if i get motivated then comes the AWD five speed! -SB
