  1. I know a truck driver who use to tow his Toyota hilux behind his truck when he was leaving the truck at a job. Until he towed the hilux down the road in first gear for about 20 minutes until he stopped to find out what the noise was, that was getting louder.
  2. You wont have to change any wiring as the DOHC engines still only have one cam sensor, All you will have to check is that the cam sprocket that the sensor triggers off of has the same number of teeth. You will be able to retain the ej22 coil pack an just get some longer HT leads. You might have to change the inlet manifold but every thing on it will be the same so keep the EJ22 engine loom. You have to remove the dash and heater to change the loom in the car.
  3. The reverse gears on the input and output shafts might be different diameters being a different ratio. If the teeth mesh and dont bind during several revolutions it will probably be ok to use the smaller gear. Its not like you will be doing high speed and milage in reverse.
  4. For the people who are interested I am doing a n EJ22 and AWD box conversion into A brumby (Brat for you fellas). I couldnt find an info on what people have done for front axle's so have done a bit of research. According to what i have found Brumby axle's are 22 spline where the axle fits into the cv. Apparently some legacy axles have the same internal spline. What i am going to do is put some EA82 5 speed stubs into the legacy box so the Brumby Doj's fit onto the box, then put some legacy outer cv's onto the brumby axle to fit the legacy hubs that are going on aswell. According to parts catalogues i have looked at this is possible but ii have not pulled any cv's off of axle's to confirm. This reminds me i should be out in the garage.
  5. Awesome another kiwi on here. Cool car i have never seen a hatch before i didnt know there were any in NZ. I would be looking to put an EJ22 in there, the FWD EJ gearbox would work but traction might be a problem. I would go 4WD and build a custom fuel tank or modify yours. Finding doors and front guards could be hard, it took me a long time to find decent guards for my brumby and one of them has a small patch of rust at the bottom. I am wrecking a seriously rusty brumby and have a few spares including a good ea81 and 4 speed dr box.
  6. Have you thought about getting a front cut from japan and converting a USDM car to RHD?
  7. You could cut down an imprezza wagon and use coupe doors to keep it in proportion.
