  1. I was haveing a problem with a knocking sound similar to yours. I ioslated the noise with a mechanics stethascope to the distributor. Turns out that my driver side timing belt was lose and the cam was wipping back and forth as it went though the lifting of the valves and so on. Check for the knock around the disty or check the belts for looseness. Hope this helps
  2. Ahh the non-wipeing wipers. I got a free subaru because of this. turned out to be the wiper motor was not grounding. Check the ground wires on top of the wiper motor. This was on an 86 turbo wagon. so not totaly sure if the grounding wires are located in the same location good luck
  3. Had a problem with my gauge but it turned out to be the sending unit was out of calibration. Maybe the contacts on the sender are messed up? It is a lot easier to pull the sending unit than the digimondash. Good luck!
  4. So what COLOR are the "read" connectors? and what COLOR are the "Test Mode" connectors? If this could be amended to the ecucodes page I think that a lot of confusion could be cleared up. Thanks
  5. Hey, So this is the problem Driveing down a dirt road testing out the lsd when the car all the sudden decides that it doesn't want to rev above 1400 rpm. It just bogs down. Temp is good, oil is good, t-belts are good, throttle plate is opening. Only way to fix it is to turn the car off and restart it. Then it runs fine for about 50 feet then wont rev anymore, repeat "turn off turn on" car is fine. I tried this same thing with the door locks and it also cured the problem, ie doors unlocked car running crappy, locked the doors while running problem went away, but I was unable to reproduce this metode. As soon as I got on pavment the problem only occured once and was quickly fixed. Another oddity is if I hold down the throttle the turbo light will come on at the metioned 1400 rpm. I don't have a boost gauge or A/F meter on it so I am not sure what the levels are there. The car doesn't seem to be running rich, no smoke out the back from what I can see. Also I have been having troble with my dash parking brake light, and temp gauge, the parking brake light blicks out a mystiriously undiciferable morus code or it just decides that it is going to be on solid, totally random. My temp gauge only works if ambiant air temp is under 80 deg F, I know how to fix both of these but haven't had the time to break out the soldering iron, just thought this might have something to do with it. So my #1 question is what type of situation would cause the car to not rev? Sorry for the long post. hope someone can point me in the right direction, I am leaning towards somthing in the dash? Thanks a bunch, Btw the new board is so much better than the old one, the search function is Awsome.
  6. I have blown through like 3 of those dam thermoswitches, So I agree with guyute
  7. Thanks for the replies I have tred to set the timing back a tooth maybe I will just thave to try harder. Thanks!
  8. I am also looking for some a replacment decals. It is for the rear hacth on a turbo Wagon, says "4wd Turbo" In Red Who would I talk to about that, Does Subaru have them?
  9. Sorry to add to this post but I just had the same problem the other day. Here is my version of story Had been driving for like 15 min in 100 deg weather, temps all good. Come to a stop at a light, idle is good. Start to take off and no matter what gear, I can not get it over 2000 RPM!!! It doesn't act like it is stumbling it just doesn't rev. Completely floored it and nothing, shift to another gear makes power up to 2000 then wont go any further? So pulled over looked at stuff pulled efi coolent sensor and that didn't help. So limped it to the bank got some money. Then limped it to Pasta Pronto for some dinner. Car sat for 1.5 hours Attemped to start and it had a heck of a time but this was do to the coolent sensor being unpluged. Rich as heck once I got it started. Drove all the way home with no problems. plugged in the coolent sensor Drove all that night and this mourning 100 miles no problems? You guys mentioned something about a fuel line being plugged. Because the last thing that I worked on was the fuel gauge sending unit, in the tank. I tried to be carefull about getting debre in the tank but you all know how that goes. Could this be a clogged fuel line or something. Sorry for the long post. Thanks
  10. I swiched mine out to a 120 watt. That was the biggest h3 that I could find. I think stock is 100 watt? Good luck!! Yes I love my passing light too.
  11. Ok I was just looking at some old posts and was wondering. Does the flywheel on said car have marks that go to 25 deg. I don't think that mine does. And one more thing when I set the timeing the Disty was all the way to the stops. I could not turn it any farther with out taking the lockdown bolts off. The car gets great milage but real surges on acceleration. Kinda wants to go but is holding back.
  12. Hey, does that little Fan for your IC help any? I was thinking about doing something like that for when I am sitting in traffic ect. And did you just wire both electric fans together, or did you install your own Temp sensor and Relay? Thanks!
  13. Lookes very concepty trodor rules!!!!
  14. glove box manual says that you don't need to push the clutch in to go from Fwd to 4wd. You only have to push the clutch in when you go from Fwd to 4wd Low or 4wd to 4wd Low or 4wd Low to 4wd. If you have a manual for the car look for the transmission section. It should set you straight.
  15. At first I thought that it was legnethed too. But then I saved it and looked at it with ACdsee and I can see the cut line, barely. You did a really good job!! I voted that you shrunk the long scoop WHere did you get it?
