Okay so i finally got around to fillin up the PS fluid. So i filled the resevoir started then engine and cranked the wheel. I could hear the PS pump circulating fluid and it way easier to steer and all that. Felt like it was going good. Then i went up to put more fluid in the res and on both sides of the engine there was a white smoke coming up. Now i dont know what DEXRON ATF looks like when it burns or what it smells like but this was white and smelled sweet... which ive heard is what coolant smells like. The PS fluid was originally drained by itself when it was on its side so i was hoping there was no leak. Could the smoke be unrelated? I wasnt driving it, it just sat there idling... no way to get hot. The car hasnt been drivin except to get home since i buggered her up. Before i bought the car its got an almost new engine (30k> on rebuild) and all new hoses. Anyone? Oh and im lookin through the search thing but i thought i might as well post

2 questions about power steering
TheMeatWagon replied to TheMeatWagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Oh that bleeding part i know about. My haynes manual says to jack the car up first so you dont mess up the ps system, is this true or can i just risk it. My brother is using the lift on his jeep because we r putting an old man emu lift in it so i cant use it for a couple days. I meant like do i have to bleed the fluid thats in there now out of it. Thanks a bunch guys -

thankya sir. -
My power steering res is like bone dry. 1. I got Dexron ATF for it... but how much will i need? more then 1 quart? 2. Should i bleed out anything that is left in there or does it even matter? Can i just put it in there and be good to go?

Power steering fluid?
TheMeatWagon replied to TheMeatWagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
thankya I figured it should be somewhere but my little sticker fell off the cap. I can see residue of where it used to be. -
1986 gl turbo coupe. Need to completely refill the power steering. Ive heard John Deere Hy Gard Low Viscosity. Theres this Shell Daxon(somthing like this) low viscosity that ive heard is a replica that would be easier to find. Ive also heard ATF? What do you guys use?

Hey if your lookin to do the conversion i was thinking the same thing awhile back. Lots of people have done it but here let me find a couple of the guides i got for it. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2695 theres the one for makin a 4sdp m/t a 5spd m/t And atm i cant find it but there was another post about changing a 3at to a 4spd.... so if u combine the 2 its basically how to make it a 5spd i guess... that was my plan anyways. -

GT4 is going to be off the hook. It supposedly has a LOT of older cars as well as new. I hope they have some old soobies thatd be pretty rad. Thats probably one of the only games im willing to drop any money on this year. Im to like 96% in gt3... and its still one of my favorites. -
awsome thanks [endhijack/]

how much did u pay by the way? and what all did it include.
-
The sony Xplodz is supposed to be pretty good for the price. My friend said he paid 600 for the full system but i donno if thats normal or not. Ive heard it but never cranked... sounded pretty good. Nothin compard to say diamonds or sumthin but still supposedly nice.

im about to be steamin....
TheMeatWagon replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
hehehe i think they were just doubtin you to push u in the right direction... like when my brother says im to ***** to go paintballing when im 6... well now ur pissed so its gonna happen... muahahahaha i cant wait for the day when you smoke em. Part of my fury towards WRX's is due to this kid at my school. he just turned 16 and his dad buys him a brand new WRX. He crashes it but doesnt break much like the 4th day he owns it. At least i have the decency to buy a $950 car to crash before i go get a $20k+ (i donno how much they are for sure) Anyways man... id love to see you smoke one so power to ya. -
