  1. Elmer 86 suby, got my vacuum to 20 after my carb got rebuilt but i have to have the air fuel screw all the way in or it runs rough, any ideas? also what is the screw is on the throttle cable on the carb ? it seemed kinda doggy all the way to the right so i turned it like 4 turns to the left (some where in the middle) also will same size tire but different tred wear effect and or damage drive train? remember this is a part time 4wd not full time all wheel drive like the modern subaru or imprezas and legacys so 90% of the time it will be in 2wd . i want to get more than 1 or 2 opinions thanks! -vulgora
  2. ok you want the answer? you want to possible fix your low fuel light aka the what the ************ are you doing? feed me! light lol at first in my 86 gl wagon it never came on but one day i tested the sending unit and i pulled out the sending unit and let the float fall all the way down , just as if it was empty , and no light came on , if it did it was dim and only for a second at that , so i used the sending unit of of my grandma's 92 loyale and bam shabam it worked! so all you need to do is , pull up your carpet in the rear compartment area, unscrew the 3 screws, take a flat bar ,flat screw driver or something similar and pry the cover open (its super sealed with tar, then take i belive 11 or 10 mm socket unscrew the nuts and take the sending unit out while pluged in and watch the gas gauge rise and lower , as for you other folks out there , ALL SUBARU GL and loyales have a low fuel gauge ! not saying they all work but geeze! cant say about the DL model though
  3. idles ok but as it revs or accelerates around the 2k area fuel cuts off to almost nothing , and jerks and chugs really bad like my cables or distributor cap or rotor or bad , but they aren't. i have floor it and let up over and over to get anywhere the problem also comes and goes i also noticed that i couldn't see the secondary jet come on unless i push the flap open with a screw driver any help would be great thanks!
  4. my moms 93 legacy wagon has the same problem , new o2 sensor, pcv valve, temp sensor, wrecking yard purge control solenoid, and the check engine light went away then came back , then i accidently left it in a few days , and now after i unplugged it , the cel wont come back on , this really sucks i hear about people all the time that get 30 mpg in the same automatic station wagon with AWD and my moms car is averaging like 15!!! ************TY ************TY ************ ************ please HELP!! its been like this for 2 years atlest!
  5. well i dont know what was going wrong or what i did right , because after i put in $10 "2.5 gallons" i got roughly 65 miles (not scientific test just watching the gauge drop from 1/4 mark to middle of E how ever i right before i went to town to get gas i sprayed carb cleaner in a a few of the Tees in the vacuum lines , could be pcv idk , but both were freaking gummed up the problem is i dont remember how the order was on the left T the one with 5 or 6 ports , also the vacuum filter my the canister that was freaking gummed up too in addition , idk if this was just knocked off from taking the air filter hosing off or if its been off for a long freaking time , but I found the linkage for the choke was off . it looks like the o2 sensor is stock , but its been jerry rigged so ihave no idea where it hooked up what it seems it doesnt need it , it was cool like freezing out, it would just take a extra pump of a puff of gas now when the o2 sensor went bad in my moms 93 legacy it would not start when it was close to freezing , it would just flood thanks for the help guys keep it coming!

  10. i had it set just right 2 or 3 weeks ago , after i just turned it at random and turned down the idle (it was at 1k for along time) and it had lots more power i could acually drive in 5th at only 45 mph with out dogging it out and loosing power also good vacuum right in the middle, before , (and now if in not going 55 or 60 in 4th then shift in 5 th and even then barley maintains power and vacuum in the just below middle . so any tricks i cant figure out how to get it down thanks !
