  1. Scuba, what car did you get the spfi off of and what car did you put this on? I brought home a basically free 88' GL Wagon that has a FI ea that i thought could go on my ea71 but from what i read, doesn't seem likely. I am thinking of putting an EA81 with the spfi and dual range 5 speed in the Brat now. Do you have any pics of what you've done? Thanks!
  2. I just googled EA71 with EA82 SPFI...dang. I was able to drag home another subie that was basically given to me. It's an 88' GL Wagon, 5 speed D/R (originally why i wanted the car) but i look under the hood and realize it is fuel injected and i know guys put FI on their EA81's but didn't know if it was possible to put this setup onto an EA71...but here is my answer i suppose haha.
  3. Nice, good detailed pics! Your car is something else man, i really love its rawness!
  4. I used an air compressor with a carbide tipped high speed drill and it worked really well. First thing i did was put my EA flywheel up and just marked with a sharpie where i thought the holes should go then went to work with it clamped in a vice. Took a couple of test fits but finally got it. I wouldn't bother getting it balanced as technically you will be taking the same amount of material out of all sides. You could, just saying i never have and i've never had a problem. I tried dremel bits before and they just kept breaking so get a heavy duty carbide bit!
  5. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/149541-rescued-1980-subaru-brat/page-2?do=findComment&comment=1266428 There ya go! The project is putting a weber carb on it and probably swapping the tranny out for another tranny because reverse doesn't work so well. Well not at all haha just binds up!
  6. South Australia, that's pretty neat. I love the wrench trick and the new air cleaner holder that looks BA.
  7. Good to hear man, haven't seen you on here in awhile and since then i myself have purchased an 80' Brat.
  8. Very nice wagon, i once had an 84' wagon that to this day i still kick myself for selling! What part of this earth do you call home?
  9. Yeah, i hear that. Winter really sucks for working on cars, if it's not a necessity i'm not laying under a car when it's 20 degrees haha. Hope you feel better soon bro!
  10. Yeah, i hear that. Winter really sucks for working on cars, if it's not a necessity i'm not laying under a car when it's 20 degrees haha. Hope you feel better soon bro!
  11. Ah that's right i remember reading this before. This is the reason i don't even consider a OBDII EJ22 in my swaps, i know there are alot of talented guys on here who can handle it but i just don't see the point. I guess being able to read diagnostics is kind of cool, but what a bunch of trouble with all those sensors! Haha Did you ever end up getting it to work right and be drivable?
  12. Sure, that sounds feasible. Haha what are you working on Bratman?
  13. Wow, very cool car. I like the look of the old school foresters. What kind of HP do you think you have now with that engine combo?
  14. Thanks Jono, that explains why the car randomly dies while idling. I was going to rebuild the carb but i mine as well put a new weber on.
  15. I'm getting the itch to do another EJ swap, i love modifying and adapting. I really want to put a 22 in my 80' Brat...maybe this summer or fall.
  16. Really? Thanks for the tip! I will make sure it really does come from Weber, forgot to order it last night anyways ha.
  17. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000JLL04A/ref=ox_sc_act_image_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A96SYUVHGPWLJ Here is the link to Weber carb on Amazon if anyone else is interested.
  18. I am ordering this kit off of amazon, for $299 with free shipping and comes with the adapter plate. Not too bad of a deal!
  19. Hey Bart, I just saved an 80' Brat that had been sitting for 14 years and i just got it running but the carb is all screwed up. I'll probably just buy the weber conversion as well but in the meantime i am planning an EJ22 swap into this thing! I hope someone else will post some good EA71 stuff for you, good luck with your build, we'd all love to see some pics if you can!
  20. You must be working on the EJ install still? I am seriously considering an EJ22 swap into my 80' Brat, i do believe it would be hilariously fast. Your car is looking good bro!
  21. Alright alright i guess so haha, git r done?
  22. You guys and these carb'd EJ22s haha
  23. $175?! How do you get such good deals?
