  1. I've got a buddy who had an 88' GL-10 and he didn't want the turbo to give him problems so he took the turbo off and basically ran it like a normal EA82. I even drove the car and it had alot of power still and he never had a problem with it after taking it off. What are your plans with this one?
  2. Why thank you! I've contemplated selling it a couple times but cannot bring myself to do it.
  3. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/144068-the-reason-for-my-alias-scooner/page-3?do=findComment&comment=1246670 Ah ha there it is, haven't updated in awhile as it's winter and working on stuff when its -10 and windy isn't any fun plus this thing is a trooper.
  4. Thanks crazy! I feel really lucky i was able to save this one, the lady crushed her last two brats she had which were an 82 and 79. To top it off she loaded both of their beds with old subaru parts like carbs, intakes, wheels, axles, trannys, even brat jump seats just so they would weigh more and she would make an extra .8 cents per pound. I tried my best to save what i could but just didn't have the space or the money. Such a shame. My lifted loyale...i love that car, it has it's own build thread somewhere in here, check it out if you haven't seen it before.
  5. Can't beat that, broken down at a parts store. Silver linings. Are you going to sleep in your car tonight?
  6. Well now i just feel like turd, look at all them pics! Haha Whoa it even came with pugs! Extra score.
  7. And not one picture. Shameful man i shame you! On the other hand your wife is the coolest ever, i usually get the, "you better not be looking at subarus." Haha
  8. Yeah, what a crappy situation. My guess would be one of the timing belts broke, same thing happened in an 85 GL i had, nice bang. A little smoke then nothing. I'd pull the two side covers off of the front of the timing belts. That's also not a bad fix on the road, better than a headgasket haha. Best of luck, maybe a member on here is close and can lend a hand?
  9. Well gents today i fired it up and thought i would post what i came up with. I installed new the following: Coil Voltage Regulator Ignition Module (inside of disty) Battery Disty Cap Rotor Spark Plug Wires (NGK) I tried the test for a pulse across the coils + and - with a tail light bulb. Sure enough it pulsed while cranking. So i unplugged a plug that came right off the battery + and had two wires that went to the engine, one went to a thing right on the front right of the carb. I unplugged it, checked voltage and plugged back in...CLICK the part i just described on the carb clicked. Never heard it before. So i cranked it and it coughed and started then died. So i went for more gas and second attempt it started right up and idled at about 2500. I took that part out of the carb and it is a solenoid? With a sharp pointy metal tube that is freely moving on the inside. I have no idea what it is. Haha Anyone?
  10. I think those restored jackmans look great, i used 185/70R13 Coopers, total to have the wheels sandblasted then primered/painted and also brand new tires cost about $500. Expensive but worth it in the long road to restoration. Warm weather would also be pretty sweet!
  11. Check it! Today i was able to get the Brat running! The engine sounds great as well, no ticks, tacks or knocks of any kind. I think i lucked out. Although, i am seriously contemplating an EJ swap into this thing
  12. I REALLY like the way roll bars look in Brats, i am trading one of my brat toppers for a rollbar soon, hopefully friday.
  13. I love all of it. Nice work bud! I really dig the quad light setup too!
  14. Bummer, if this was me i would resell what you bought. Wouldn't be worth trying to redrill because it might ruin the rims and you couldn't sell them. Just my .2
  15. Haha yeah the growling and waaa waaaa waaaa during acceleration and passing is disturbing to me. Other than that i do enjoy the manual mode with paddle shifters, unleasing the raw pulse pounding perfomance of our standard 2.5 in our 13' Outback haha
  16. Nicely done, how do you like that CVT tranny? I see that top radiator hose comes out of almost the center of the radiator? That's weird. I wonder if our outback is like that?
  17. Haha on the first subaru i ever bought, a 91' Loyale the same thing happened to me, the exhaust broke right behind the Y pipe. What was this deliciously beautiful rumble sound coming from under there?! I never fixed it because i loved that 1-3-2-4 sound, when i did do a proper repair it was catless exhaust through a glass pack. I remember that being the first time really falling in love with these subies.
  18. Haha funny you say that, we needed to get snow tires on my wifes outback but couldn't find the special socket for the wheel locks so had to buy a whole new set with a socket from subaru. Well in the end i found the other socket so now i have a full set of locks and a socket. I wonder if subaru has changed the size of their lug nut studs over the years?
  19. These are going to look good! How i wish they were 14" Jackmans! Oh well the 13"s look proportionate.
  20. Fully primered and then painted with bright white epoxy paint made for appliances. I'll do another coat when this one is dried. They are going to look pretty sharp on the BRAT i think. I love the look of the jackmans too, the lady i bought the brats from told me the other night that i'd have to bring these wheels back because she wasn't supposed to sell them. I said that's YOUR bad. I just spend almost $500 in getting these sandblasted and new tires so there's no way i'm giving them back. Powder coating white would've cost $40 a wheel which to me seems outlandish.
  21. Hey hey hey. So you're the one who snagged that lifted brat from worland. My brother and i were seriously making plans to grab it, then it was gone haha. Nice. Glad the site worked for pics too!
  22. Is that a wyoming cowboys sticker i see on that rear window?
