Scored a lift kit the other day...
Scooner replied to d8usti5n's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Lookin good! Just tonight i was able to have a friend help me push my relic into the garage. It sat for 14 years behind a ladies house untouched and i saved it. She said the car crusher people were going to give her $150 for it so i said i'll give you $300 and 5 months later brought it home. I have a new thread in members rides labeled "rescued" where i will document alot of my work. Can't wait till mine drives the streets again! -

Hey, i have a 1980 Brat too i'm beginning work on and i've been thinking about a 4" lift for it. Patrick or Scott do either of you guys make a 4" first gen lift? Also d8 show me a pic of your car i'd like to see it! -
When i first went on the search for 6 lug 14" wheels i tried desperately to find these style chevy luv wheels and just could not find them. I wanted 14's primarily to run 27x8.50R14 General Grabber AT2s. I am happy with the wheels i have though.

Eya those nissan wheels look like they came off of a small pickup, i've seen them before and alot of them compact trucks had em. I've even heard chevy luv wheels work good too as they are 6 lug wheels.

Sorry, i meant the spindle that the entire spare tire rack rotates on. I was wondering where you bought it from.

Looking sharp!

Thanks! I sat in it for the first time today and what a cool unique vehicle. I am 6' tall and do not fit so comfortably but i can't wait to actually drive it. I am reading up alot on body work and rust repair to make sure i get it right.

Thanks bud! I cleaned out the garage today so i can get the BRAT in there along side my wifes fancy pants outback to get started on this magnificent creature!

No problem! The way i solved the riddle of what size/fit worked i brought my car with those new rims to the tire shop and we literally went through a couple different sizes till we found one that worked. I also took the original size tire and put it into a tire calculator like the one on discount tires website and started to plug in numbers with the new size that were roughly the same circumference of the original so the speedometer wasnt off.

Much cleaning needs to be done!

Hmm my phones camera must have turned :/ bummer, i was excited to lift that dash cover and hope for no cracks (yeah right) at least the dash mat is in good shape.

I've actually got a full set of jackmans that came with the car i'm going to have sandblasted and then painted white, should look just right. But first i need some new tires, all of these are literally rotten from sitting so long.

Had to take her top off! Much much better!

The top of the motor looks super clean with hardly any sign of oil, almost looks like it either has low mileage or has been rebuilt at some point? Can't wait to clean it all up and try cranking it over. Of course after dropping the gas tank and cleaning out fuel lines, changing oil, spark plugs and that sort of thing. The owner said it ran amazing when parked but a CV was going out or a U joint maybe? He couldn't remember, that's why it was at these other peoples house. They were supposed to repair it in trade for work from him but the whole thing fell apart. Much to my delight.

I just don't understand why someone would cut them out, but then again i guess if you wanted to use it as a truck you might have to? Breaks my heart, good thing i can weld as i know i can fix this.

2 questions. 1: Who the hell leaves a battery to rot a hole in the bed? 2: What kind of heathen cuts the mounts for the jump seats out?!
-
I'm sure they will probably work, i put turbo baja wheels on my 99' Outback and worked perfect, check it out.

I guess it was due to the dry wyoming air? This is the worst part of rust, not bad at all.
