I believe the 88' is actually a GL because they started the Loyale in 1990, basically the same thing though. Tell me does the 88' have a hi/lo 4WD tranny? Also its not a turbo car is it? Pics would be totally rad if you can.

Dude. It doesn't get any better than that!

What that dude said ^ Personally i'd go with a 90-94 Legacy as the donor just for the ease of not having to mess with OBD II but then again having the diagnostic plug in capabilities is cool too. What part of Arvada are you in? You also have to remember to make your car fully emission passable. Which isn't too difficult, i did it there before. I own a house right by the air care colorado in Golden and i did a EA to EJ swap using a 1990 Legacy 2.2 into an 85' GL Wagon. Just had to have the car inspected by a guy down on federal somewhere that signed a paper verifying i installed a cat and oxygen sensor. Good luck with your rig and if you're looking for any parts i might have a few. It should be noted however that i now live in Cheyenne, WY but rent our house on Golden out so i come down every now and then. Levi

Hello, I'm close as well but not in Colorado, i'm apparently the only older school subaru guy up here in Cheyenne, WY. What part of Foco are you in? Levi -
Those General Grabber AT2s are the worst tire ever...Just kidding everyone calm down. They are amazing and for about $140 a tire you can't go wrong. I have the 4" lift and the 27/8.50R14s on my scooner and its a perfect combo no rubbing ever. They rock in the mud and snow and even just wet roads. Can't wait to see more pics!

Very nice intro to ultimate! Good pics and i see a hoppy beer in there, i am a hop head for sure. The hoppier the better! Love them XV's, almost bought one for my wife but ended up getting a 13' Outback for more room. Either was welcome and even though you have a brand new car, we'll still show some love...just keep them great pics comin bud!

Yeah Dan Man that thing looks excellent! I like the truck you used to pull it home too. I hope to see some updates on this car soon. What are your plans?

Yes sir i do believe that wagon is a beaut! Nice job, those bearings are so easy to do with a bearing press...it almost feels like cheating haha -
I love them clean GL wagons, there is a lady here in town that has a blue one she bought brand new from the local dealership, i think that's pretty cool. Nice find, hopefully we will see more of it on here soon!

Heading out to the lakes the next morning, lots of campers stopping to ask what the hell my car was and that they thought it was so unique and BA. Love this thing.

Gassing up before hitting the road last week, went to Teton National Park to sit in the rain haha. Can ya dig the custom rear mount for the spare tire? Haha

Very nice brat! I drive by that Wyoming sign at least twice a week. Where were you coming from?

I used the EJ radiator in my swap, (EJ22 into 92' Loyale). What i did for clearance was cut the dowel pins off the bottom of the radiator so it would sit flat where the EA one went then basically did a bunch of dry fits putting it in and marking on the front radiator support area where to trim with my grinder and just took the metal back to where the rad sits straight then just used tie wire and fastened there. Never had a problem and didnt have to cut much. I did however have to cut the underside of the hood so the filler cap woupd clear and so the hood would shut but wasnt a big deal as the metal i cut was just the part underneath that strengthens the hood. Might want to consider this route bro.

True, i loved living there. I loved taking my car down to the hot rod cruises on south golden road the first weekend of every month when it's warm just to see people look at my car like, "is that a lifted subaru?!" People seemed to like it and they took pics of it. Maybe I'll run into you one of these weekends when i come down to do maintenance on the rental house. Can't wait to see more on your car here!

Excellent, do you go to the school of mines? One of those pics looks like you're parked in Golden somewhere? I moved to Cheyenne from Golden about a year and a half ago. We still own our house out on west 44th by McIntyre.

I love it! Raw, Raunchy and Real! All on the cheap too. What part of the country do you call home?

found this today, was sitting with no windshield but might be worth saving? -
Question, did you ever devise a way to hook up that neutral switch? I've been thinking about doing it to mine but it just runs so good i haven't dug into it, and my ecu is tucked so nicely under my steering wheel Also, did you ever end up hooking up the VSS wire as well? Hope you're having lots of fun with it!
