^^^Is that actual sun shine?! Ha, looking good bro. What jack do you carry in your car in case of tire problems? -
The beginning of the new rear bumper. I used 1 1/4" tube steel one foot long each, put them in the slot then drilled and tapped all the way through them and used the factory bolt locations.

When we were in the process of buying our 13' Outback last june i noticed that every outback they had was an automatic. We ended up with the auto CVT transmission with steering wheel paddle shifters and it does good, its just hard to get used to as it never really shifts. In manual mode it really makes the motor come alive with those paddle shifters! I don't think you can even buy a new pickup now days with a manual, that's the fun of driving i think.

Ej22 swap wiring help needed
Scooner replied to sumoco's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
No, i used none of it. You are only going to use the brown ignition relay under the dash and the fuel pump relay, the silver round top one. -
Ej22 swap wiring help needed
Scooner replied to sumoco's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Also, you dont need any wires from the steering wheel, remember you're after that ECU and the wires that go to the engine. Get the ECU out and follow those wires out, alot of different things splice power off of other things and seems tricky but it's not bad. I have a great pin out wiring diagram at home that can help. Personally, i got the ECU out and left about 2 feet of wire off of every plug and just cut them, then in the engine compartment i did the same thing cut the plugs all off with a foot to spare and made my own harness out of new wire and shielded wire for the sensors. I will probably think of more as it comes to me, got me excited i loved the wiring part! -
Ej22 swap wiring help needed

I take it you're stripping the harness out of a donor car? What i did with both my swaps was take a hammer and bust the dash all up so i could get to all of the wires easily and then just went about labeling then unplugging from certain areas in the dash, the main wires you need are the ones going into the engine compartment for all of the engine sensors. I'd maybe start from the engine compartment and move back, (take off the driver fender) then you can follow those to the SMJ. If you need to PM me with your number and i can send you some pics, my first EJ swap was a complete F-SHOW. haha -
That's great! Do you have pics of the GL and Loyale?
-
What a strange coincidence to get two that are almost identical. Haha and for about the same price too! What are the other 3 subies?

The person who replaced the bearings didnt torque the hub nut on correctly and most likely didnt put a cotter pin back in to make sure it didnt back off. When your friend put the spindle nut back on really tight that was a mistake and is currently destroying the bearing every time you drive it now. I'd have a word with whoever you had do the bearings the first time, although now you're looking at probably replacing the bearings again. Crappy.

Those long beds are super weird looking, i've never seen one before! Wouldn't be bad if the rear wheels were moved back, on a side note i've never been able to get into the bajas because the rear wheels should be moved back. I know it's for the ease of using the same platform across vehicles but geez. -
I love your greenhouse garage, it's almost like you're growing subarus in there!

Grant...i am also jealous of where you live holy crap. I can't get enough of the northwest! I'd trade this blasted wind for rain ANYDAY! Maybe someday, it may be windy here but it's definitely no STATEN ISLAND haha -

GL/Loyale front+ rear disc cross drilled rotors?
Scooner replied to Scooner's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Wow, thanks for all the good info guys! I really appreciate it and i will keep an eye out for some good slotted rotors, i could definitely see rotors cracking between the holes if the quality is bad. Then again putting on brand new rotors and pads from the autoparts store would probably be just fine as well, just thought a brake upgrade would be cool. Now to read that thread sir loyale 2.7 -
GL/Loyale front+ rear disc cross drilled rotors?
Scooner replied to Scooner's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thanks brotherman, i was just on another website called cquence and they specialize in drilled and slotted rotors. I might just take off the rear wheel and measure the rotor and see what all of the specs are as well. I dont want to do a 5 lug swap because ive already done the 6 lug redrill and put on brand new wheels and tires haha. -
Hey all, On my 92' Loyale the rear brakes were converted to disc brakes before i bought it and i believe the donor was an 88' GL10 but not 100% sure. My question is are the front disc rotors the same as the rear disc rotors? I've been looking on amazon at cross drilled/slotted rotors to put on my car and a store called Emil Performance says they have the fronts but no way on the rears. But further searching says they have all four for a turbo loyale for $194. Has anyone put cross drilled rotors on there loyale/gl on here and if so where did you buy your parts, how much were they and also did i read something about someone using Honda calipers on the back? FYI: I'd like to upgrade my brakes simply because i tow trailers and would like the extra stopping power in case something crazy happens. Thanks dudes!

Looking at buying this head unit, I have questions.
Scooner replied to Sandrion's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Piece of crap?? I went on amazon and bought a Pyle PLMR88W Marine style stereo that has no cd player just mp3 capable, it was cheap, it fits perfectly in my loyale dash, sounds good and have had no problems. True, it's not a pioneer or kenwood but come on it's not like we're cruising around in cadillacs haha. This stereo works great for what i need and might for you as well, its worth checking out "cd playerless" stereos. By the way as far as mounting goes i bought a piece of 1/4 wood plank from hobby lobby and cut it down to fit the opening then placed the stereo right in the middle. Then just drilled new holes in all 4 corners and put in new screws. I'll take a pic sometime and put it up. -
Thanks bro, yeah i went back to those old subarus and no one had even read note i left the bra on the loyale was in awful shape as well. The main reason i wanted to screw the trim through the body panels is because i live in the crappiest uh i mean windiest state ever. 35+ gusts are an everyday thing. The wind literally never stops. Ever. That's why im going to try and transfer to the northwest or Breckenridge, Colorado. We cant do 30 years in Cheyenne! I need more clips as well, i will go back to the junkyard and get more clips, as i need 8 more. I can get some extra too, just because!

Good to hear! I love that feeling of accomplishment when you find a problem...sometimes you're the windshield sometimes you're the bug.
