  1. Its under the spare tire in the engine bay. One end hooks to your engine at the center, upper rear point (near the timing cover) and the other hooks to your body. Its a kinda short thin rod (around a foot long) with large ends on it. The ends have rubber isolation mounts in them. In the above picture, put your pointer on the right tail light of the WRX in the background. Pull straight down all the way to the bottom of the picture. That rod that runs up and to the right is the pitch rod.

    Doorless pic

Here it is. What a blast! I passed by a few cops and MPs with no problems. The hatch is coming off next!
  3. Roundeye

    Doorless?

I would have to challenge that. Look at all of the Jeep MBs,CJs, YJs, TJs, Toyota FJ40s, Suzuki Samurais, Geo/Chevy Trackers, Daihatsu Rockys, old Broncos, some Chevy Blazers and several more I'm sure I missed that run around daily with no doors.
  4. LOL. Nope. I live in the south. Down here you hear things like: Hayul yea! Lookit tat sumbit@# skinnin it back! He ain't skeerd to pour the coals to it! And NO, I don't talk like that. I growed up better than that:drunk:
  5. Damn, dude that looks factory. Thats my style: if you are going to do something, DO IT. Nice work!

    Doorless?

Well, I just did it. All I can say is HOLY $#!T. I like it and it looks sick. Will post pics soon.

    Doorless?

Should be no problem with the law. Look at Jeeps. The only issue would be rear view mirror(s). That can be easily fixed with a Jeep or motorcycle mirror.

    Doorless?

Anyone yanked their doors off of a wagon? I'm about to do it to see how I like it, That is the ONLY thing I miss about my Jeep. Anyone got pics of a doorless wagon?
  9. A head light (many many many little pieces:headbang: ) , turn signal lens, rear bumper cover, tail pipe, balls from CV joints, and the most common......CV boots.
  10. I have considered 2 batteries. Mount the 2nd where the spare tire sat and use an isolator for charging. That is an option. As for the snorkel, I don't plan on getting in water up to my windows. This car is unusually rust free and has a beautiful interior (read: not a beater). I'm not scared to pound on it, but I'm going to ruin it either. More lights are in order. I want it like my Cherokee was: Lots of light up front, alley lights and rear lights.
  11. It's not real clear in the pic, but the actual inlet is about 3 1/2 inches off of the hood. it can take a a little wave action over the hood. Also I added a particle/water separator: a series of small holes in the rear of the inlet to allow water/small trash to escape; the feed through in the hood sticks up about 3/4 of an inch to prevent sucking pooled water in the inlet should the vents become clogged. Again, if I ever get that deep, the fun's over. Mainly it's all about finesse. Water should be entered as to not cause a splash. A wake should be kept just in front of the car. If you haul @zz into a crossing you are done for anyhow. As for the lights...I need to up my alternator first. Picture at night raining and hot = lights, w/s wipers, A/C, stereo, amp = fried alternator........but I'm working on that too:brow:
  12. I yanked the bumper to see what I had to work with. I'm either going to adapt a Rock Crusher bumper for a Cherokee, or build a tube bumper from 4130 chromoly DOM tubing. BTW: Cherokees (Jeep XJ) and EA82 wagons are VERY close in body measurements. Parts like bumpers and roof racks can be easily adapted and will look good on a Subie. I chose to go with a hood snorkel 'cause I have not found a pilar setup I like. One for a Cherokee would fit good, but that would be about 300 bills. Plus I figure if I ever got it in water up to the bottom of the windows (my snorkel height) it's done for anyhow as it would begin to float. I used a piece of a heater duct from a UH-1B Huey for the scoop. (surplus parts can be found online) 2 1/4 inch flexible duct for the hose and a PVC fitting at the feed-through in the hood. I made the light bar from a piece of 1" square tubing and used 1 1/2 inch wide 1/8 inch thick flat stock for the legs, base and mount tabs. Suckiest part was pulling the headliner down to install. Here's some pics....and NO, it aint done yet!
  13. I had it made at a local sign shop. They'll make anything you want.
  14. 35% (blocks out 65%) Years ago it would have been called 65. I like darker, but the law in Ala-fu*%&ng-bama prohibits anything darker on a car:mad: BTW: It is Llumar AT35 Platinum film.
  15. 2HI/2LO would give you 2 sets of gears to use on pavement without wrecking your axles from torque-bind. Here is what I think about the whole thing....
  16. Damn. Thanks guys. It ain't done yet though (are they ever REALLY done?):-\ Yes, the rims are from a ninety-something (92?) Toyota Tacoma
  17. Got rid of some useless sheet metal below the front bumper. Also cut the swaybar off. DAMN what a difference off road! Not bad on the road. I went to the local clay pit and drove through places with all 4 wheels in contact where before it would lift a wheel and spin. If you have a swaybar....dump it!
  18. Have you found the straw and razorblade? I'm sorry.........
  19. Damn nice rides so far!! Here's mine..... 1987 GL D/R. 4/4 OZified lift, 29/8.50/15 TSL Super Swamper radials, Converted Toyota Tacoma rims, 450 watts of death metal-spewing stereo. You simply must have your ears assaulted by some SLAYER while pounding the snot out of nasty terrain:headbang: In the works: Snorkel. Coming soon: Custom bumpers, winch and roof rack-full-o-lights. You may notice the dark red clay we have here. It's as close to 'wheeling on Mars as you can get. Every time I wash that red clay off of my car, my driveway looks like a nasty crime scene:drunk: Keep those kick-@zz pics coming!!!!
  20. Change your thermostat. From what you describe, it sounds defective. If it still runs too warm (for driving conditions and outside temps) do this: Pull your thermostat. You can also wire your aux fan to run constantly with the key on. Check your antifreeze level often (daily). These are last-ditch efforts to squeeze a few more miles out of the car, so nothing good will come of it. If you do in fact have a blown gasket or cracked head, it will not get any better. You have a choice: Flog it to death, fix it, or sell it to someone you hate.
  21. Wow. Thanks. I've got some dirty pics of it playing at the clay pit. I'll post 'em soon.
  22. LT215/85R15 TSL Super Swampers. They come out to about 29" X 8.5" mounted on modified Toyota rims. No bad scrub at full flex.
  23. VERY nice! What year is yours? Here is a pic of my '87 DR with a PK 4/4 lift..... I'm in the same boat here (no other lifted Subies around). I like having the only one in my area. It freaks people out. It REALLY freaks people out when their truck or Jeep gets stuck on/in something and you chug right over/through it as soon as they get pulled out. The only thing better is if you are the one that pulls them out and then go where they just tried. Gotta love these damn things!
  24. I must also praise PK (Ozified). I am more than satisfied with my 4" kit. I have been driving it daily and pounding it without mercy on the weekends. The only failures I have had were non-lift related. Not to say that the others are any less, as I have no experience with them. As far as imediate availibility, consider this: None of these Subie lift suppiers are big companies like Skyjacker, Superlift, etc. They are small operations with a small market. I did not expect to pick up a phone one day and find a kit on my doorstep the next. It's just the price you pay for driving something unique. Trust me, some things are worth the wait. The looks you get :slobber:when your "grocery getter" climbs a hill or claws it's way through a mud hole that just stopped a Jeep or big truck is priceless. PK, if you are reading this: Thanks again for helping my Subaru embarass the S#!T out of countless 4X4s in the LA area (Lower Alabama)
