I don't hear anything I would call exhaust sounding, early leaks sound like ticks, right??? I do hear/feel a slight rumbling, seems like mostly 2nd, maybe 3rd gear. before shifts, I hope I'm just being paranoid, cause it sounds like my 85 Olds just before all the forward bands were shot-(massive slipping)-per my friend/tranny expert. Please tell me I'm wrong!!

Wikiwhat? I gotta learn how to use that too?

The write up WAS nice, unfortunately I must be mentally challenged because I'm unable to follow written directions, "uploading" pics- wasn't gonna happen, but I at least attempted the quote thing, I think I screwed that up too- so here I am. I have a "Family thing" this Sat. and a "work thing" this Sun., next weekend I got a "thing" Sat. too, and probably recovering from that "thing" Sun.. Kinda how my whole summer has been, my main Ride dies, pull out the "collector car", tranny goes; borrow ride, brakes go; buy another "collector", tranny???? (I'll find out when I change the filter) Buy Subaru. I sure hope my luck is changin' I'm sick of this sh** Summer's almost gone, I haven't enjoyed it yet-:-\

01 H6 LLBean:)

Same here Re: beer. Re: posting pics, I am not computer literate, this is about all I can do, I wish I could figure out how to do the "quotes" with just parts of a post instead of all of it. So, I guess you'll just have to wait and see it in person, might have to wait a couple weeks for a weekend meet. I'm done with work by 3pm most weekdays, if anyone gets together during the week, let me know. -Kara

Hello,as someone else new to Subaru can I assume these tranny tips are useful to me as well? Or irrelevant? I have a 01 Outback H6 Automatic. I hear/feel slight vibration/rumble before shifting.

Good to know- Although, to me, this 01 H6 LLBean is ALL bling:lol:

O.K.! So, this "Scott" fellow is the man I need to know?? You know I gotta appreciate anyone with "BEER" in their name. Does Scott go to these "meets" I've been hearing about?

Unfortunately, it's not a Subaru dealer- The manager I talked with said they don't have the Subaru scanner so he wasn't able to see exactly what it was doing-he took it for a drive after he replaced it to see that it didn't come right back on. He also said that if it came up again, he would send it to a Subaru dealership. I don't really hear anything. So far I'm at about 100 miles from picking it up, no cel yet.

Had the CEL come on during the test drive I would have said Thanks, and walked away, after all, the only reason I was at that dealer was to pick up a $2 part for one of my other cars. That shiney bluish-green paint, and the H6 emblem in the grill just caught my eye. Thanks for your input-so far, I've driven it about 10 miles since sensor replaced we'll see what happens. I'm trying not to worry (too much)

"A bit?? slimey"?? I would say more than a bit! I tell you, just walking into that showroom made me feel dirty! Thanks much for the tip RE: injectors, I will be watching milage. I think I found someone there I can maybe trust, the set-up manager. He's the one who put the sensor in, I talked to him for a while when I picked up the car, it seems he feels the same way about salesmen. The closest I could get to "having it in writing", was his buisness card, with the sensor info and codes written on back and his promise that he would stand up for me. I wish I had met this guy BEFORE I bought a car there. Ah well such is life, I WILL fight the power! Thanks:)

I agree completely:)

Hey Hey Hey! I am out in the sticks, about 3ish miles south of Holy Hill. I sure am glad I happened upon that "Fox character" very early in my Subaru search, or I would not be here now. Don't feel bad, I'm sure there is more than one "Genius" in S.E. WI

I may be an idiot- The final price with tax, title, and plates was $8,534.67. Like I said, I've never bought a car from a dealer before, in fact I've never spent more than $2000 for a car before. My last-94 GMC Safari AWD van, bought w/170K. needed lots o' minor stuff, but lasted 5yrs/50K. I was looking forward to a newer "lower" milage car with a reputation for quality. I wasn't afraid of "seeps"; I know how to check fluids. Maybe I should have been, there's a big difference between $2000 and $8,500. So, if someone can assure me I haven't just made the biggest mistake of my life, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks. KK

Update: I bought the 01 H6, I picked it up from dealer last night, on my way to work this A.M. the check enj. light came on. 24 miles out of the lot!!! I took it in to dealer, their scan showed 02 sensor, guy said it was driver side, front sensor. I'm kinda wondering if this could be an ongoing issue since the mechanic who looked it over before I bought it said all the 02 sensors had been replaced. Is this sensor visible from under, when on a lift?? "my" mechanic is not a Subaru guy, did he maybe not see it? Is there an issue that would cause this sensor to fail? Dealer said (verbal aggreement) they would fix it on their dime, (they're doing it tommorow). Do I need this in writing before I leave the car with them? Since I bought the car as-is, do I have any recourse if this continues to be an issue? I have been sooo worried about making an expensive mistake, but I didn't know the "self fulfilling prophecy" could make the check enj. light come on. Any "expert" opinions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.:-\
