  1. alright, so here's the deal..........I wanna lower my brat just a little for better street performance, and I was wondering, because my brother just raised his truck with shackles, could I lower mine the same way? I think I wanna just drop the front maybe an inch.........the rear is fine and I know I'm gonna love it........ .......also, does anyone have any advice on my best bet for making a front push bumper perfectly aligned so it looks good..........not lopsided y'know Thanks ya'll, can't wait to post pics..........Later James
  2. Russ, how do you shave bumpers? My brat hnas a bunch of body holes that are huge in front. Rear wouldn't be too hard I'm confuzzled, cuz I wanna be able to off-road, but want good mileage for my travelling. I will probably go for a bit more off-roar rig look, because this'll be my fishing rig. lol, I've wanted one forever. Thanks man, ur a lifesaver. When I get back in school I will start on my front A bar and roll bar, maybe post a few pics. Later Soobies, James
  3. Hi again yall, does anyone have a link to a page for a front push bar and/or roll bar for a 1979 Brat... Or a good diagram of one that I can build. I will have em anyways. I don't want a full size front bumper (full width, uh-uh), but one that sticks out in the middle of the front Also lookin for a roll bar for same year, that will go above cab for headroom in jump seats. I don't like the mushroom style though. Anyone that can help or send me a pic I would appreciate it blasterbike519@yahoo.com James
  4. thanks all for your help and acknowledgement, I finally started work on the Brat 2 days ago. I have the carb tore down and a carb kit on order. There is still gas in the truck, which has turned to varnish, and it needs a good oil change. What is oil filter code I wonder? I don't want to take it off and find it'll be 2 weeks before I can get one. Technically me and my dad are going to Restore this bad dawg, so it'll be smooth. the best part is I got this truck with enough parts in the bed of it to build another engine completely, and a second interior, and a brat-shell, all for $150.00. Only condition is once I have it running I have to road trip it back down to the guy that I bought it from so he can see it. The miles will be healthy for the little buggar! I think this job won't be nearly as big as I anticipated, and with your advice, and my dad's and brother's help, I should be rollin' in no time. BTW I am located outside of Las vegas in Moapa Valley. Yes it is a desert. But I am very happy. thanks. P.S. what is the firing order of the EA71 engine that I have?
  5. A;right yall, I'm a new user, thanks to the providers for havin' this board... Anyways, like I said, I have a 1979 generation 1 mild yellow Subaru Brat GL in what I have found to be PRIMO condition. very little if any rust, truck bed is BEAUTIFUL.. My problem is it has been sitting for years at my Uncles, now I have it and want it running, but you might say I'm mechanically....or at least engine-ly stupid! If any of you have any information on the EA71 engine or the 79 Brat, from brochures to diagrams to troubleshooting, anything.....I would like it tons if yall would help me by sending it to blasterbike519@yahoo.com . I'm certainly not asking for a handout, I have researched it alot....but if any of you can help I would appreciate it alot. Thanks very very much, you guys here are awesome, this is the best place I've found yet. Thanks again, James P.S. when I say anything I mean it. even suggestions of your own thanks.
