  1. But mine is an automatic. how hard is it to install all the other stuff...foot pedals, clutch cabel and wouldn't I need the driveline rebalanced...?????
  2. I have a 5 spd hi/lo 4x4 tranny, but not sure if it will fit in my Brat. Also, not sure about how much extra work would go into converting my AT to a 5 spd. Any information on this type of conversion
  3. Anybody ever tried to rebuild a 3 spd 4X4 Auto tranny before. My brat has been out of commintion for about 4 months now and I need to figure out what I am going to do with her. Let me know if anyone has ever tried to do this and was it difficult. Thanks Vic

  6. Here's my problem. I have a 83 brat 4x4 with 3 spd auto tranny. It wants to stay in 2nd and not wanting to shift into drive. But when the car warms up or is driven a little bit. The shifting problem goes away. What is my problem? Do I need to rebuild it or just change filter in tranny? Any help would be greats. Maybe a vacum line Vic
  7. I just removed the Front axle from my 83 brat and the bearings came with it. How the heck do I get it off????
  8. Anyone know what the firing order is for the plugs on an 83 subaru. I think it is passanger side front is cylinder 1, but just want to make for sure. Also rotor needs to point at cylinder 1, RIGHT??? Thanks
  9. I have a 85 GL Turbo 4X4 that has a idle problem when you first start the car every single time. After that when driving everything is fine. Just the very first start of the car it will idle fine but when you step on the gas to let the idle go down, the car wants to die. any help would be great. Vo
  10. That is exactly what happens. This is the only problem I have, the brat drives fine after that. when it is cold it is hard to get moving almost vibrates or sputters. Anything else Fox please let me know
  11. I have had my brat for a while now and it has always hesitated when stepping on the gas. I have lived with it now for a year, but now it is getting annoying. I have a 83 GL 4X4 auto :boohoo: Brat. And the hestitation will not go away. Even after the car warms up it still want to stall whenever I take off. I have lots my subaru manual and really don't know where to start. I have a weber carb, but have been kind of hestitant to put it on. But that may just be what I need to do. Any help would be great or even just a starting point. Thanks Vo:headbang:
  12. I have been driving my Brat for a year now and my lights have always been very faint. What the hell it wrong with them. I looked at the alternator to see if it was going out but everything looked good. So my question is, should I be looking for something else. The light are more of a light orange color then a bright White color. Anyone got any input for me. Vo:banghead:
  13. Thanks guys for all your help. It was the White Canister that was clogged. Once I changed that out everything worked fine. Once again thanks for your help Vo
  14. My heater on my 85 GL Turbo is not working right. It only blows air out of the Center Console no matter where you put the control. Could it have something to do with the fact that my belt is not on my AC unit or is it something easy??? Need some help this has been driving me Vo:confused:
  15. Just wondering if there is any real damage when a timing belt breaks on an EA82 motor. Or is it just a matter of replacing the belt. Vo

  17. Went to the dealership for tranny gasket and I had mentioned that the tranny the I put in was a Non turbo tranny. The guy replied back saying I would burn it up faster then a Turbo Tranny. Anyone know why this is:confused: Car is an 85 GL 4x4 Turbo with non turbo auto tranny

  20. I fixed up a 85 GL 4x4 Turbo Wagon. The tranny was gone and I replaced it with an 85 GL 4x4 Non turbo Wagon. Everything works so far. Here are my question????? 1. Heater only blows out the Middle part of Dash and nowhere else. No matter if I put it on Defrost or just Heat. 2. When accelerating, I notice a slight hesitation. It's more like smooth rocking then studder. When I got the car the power steering pump has spilled all over the belt, could this possible by the problem. I may want to sell this car and want to make sure everything is working before I get rid of it. Any help would be great Vo
  21. That is why you don't let anyone touch our Boobies:brow: Here's one for you, My wife decided to go to Home Depot. Both 97 Camry and 00 F250 are blocked so she takes my 83 Brat. Needless to say, she would never be caught dead in my Brat, but she is a willing to drive it, so I let her. I am thinking... okay she is going to Home Depot to get Weed and Feed nothing major. Well, here she comes, I happen to notice my brat is sitting wierd:confused: . She pulls up and what does she have sitting in the back of my Brat, but 12 of this concrete block. These were some big mama jamma's. :madder: Come to find out they are not even the right size, so I end up taking them back. What is the moral of these stories........ Never let the wife drive our subeeezzz....
  22. I just replaced the tranny in my 85 4X4 turbo GL Auto tranny. I replaced it with a tranny that was on a standard GL 4x4 non turbo. Now for the question Will my drive shaft be different from the 85 4x4 turbo GL if I use a 85 4x4 Non Turbo GL tranny????
