My friend actually placed 4th in open class in rallyx two years ago with a RX. He had 2.5" turbo back exhaust, dual core radiator, and an intercooler, that's all the mods. You just have to make sure that you don't overboost and you have to the engine cool, that's how you make EA82s work. Rallyx isn't so much about power as it is about Driver skills. You can have an STi out there and still place low because the person doesn't know how to drive it. Yes. Pretty easily, compared to swapping the engine into the Gl-10. You'd need adapter plates, axles ends (I think) and a maybe a modified driveshaft. Some people have done it on the board, they'll be more help.

I bet ya you have a boost/vacuum leak. That would explain no idles once warm, hard starts after stalls, and no boost light. -

I have nothing. But I can help you with information on installing the ea81 into the gen 1 body. I don't know if the engine mounts are any different, but I do know that the ea81 crossmember is different. I can go out tomorrow and get some measurements for ya, if no one else can get them sooner. I helped my friend put a complete EA81 engine and drivetrain into a Gen 1 Brat, but I also lifted it 4 inches. -

Exactly what I meant. (Knowing nothing about Toyotas) I want a solid axle with 3.9 ratio.

Hello. I know nothing about toyotas...do they have rear ends where the ratio is 3.9? If so, where can I get one? I'm thinking of a project with a Subaru transmission to be used.

I don't think anything needs to be cut. Anywhere. The beauty about ea82s are, everything is usually there to mount any combination to. If you check out the shifter setup of the dual range, everything is on the arm that the shifter attaches to, all that stuff just pokes up through the tunnel. As for the rear components, I think all the bolt holes are there...don't hold me to it though. I thought there was a write up in the USRM, I couldn't find it. -

Nice find. I got my RX for $350. Replaced the head gaskets and wheel bearing...no problems since. Well, it has the TOD but you know how that goes. -

How much for the car? I'd say that the tensioner came loose and needs to be retightened.

Why wouldn't the chains work? I've seen Road Graders that have chains on them just because of the mud. It might not be a great advantage but I don't see any drawbacks...other than coming loose or something. Definately front and back. -
Requires either crawling under the car or taking the shifter boot off and looking at the bushings. They probably need replacing or if you're lucky, something is loose. Also, welcome to the board.

I recommend using techron additive or chevron fuel...it added 3 mpg to my car.

Agree with Miles, but the 3at is a boat anchor. Don't bother with it...however, you'll probably get some for free or cheap with everyone swapping FROM 3at to 4 or 5 speeds. -

Wait? The AA lifts didn't lower the diff? What I do with Ea82's is drop the diff 3 inches and the shocks 4. 1" isn't going to hurt too much. Is this image mirrored, woundedbrat? I ask, because the exhaust is going to the "passenger" side.
