  1. I've seen some crazy results with rolling rustoleum on. Looks like arma coating, and is strong. As for a paint gun, check harbor freight. Look for a HVLP (high volume low pressure) gun. Make sure you get a regulator to step the input air down. As for paint, rustoleum is good for spraying, thin with Acetone. Those are your cheap options. You can try Krylon Fusion paint. Just remember, your paint job is only as good as the effort you put into preparation. Sand it, remove dust, prime it, paint it. Maybe wet sand it after each coat of paint.
  2. Could we get a direct link? I for some reason can't figure out how to find a user's album.
  3. I don't see it in the pic? Are you referring to that?
  4. I try to show mine who's boss, but it drives like it's an automatic, even though it's a stick. The RPMs go up, but not in relation to the speed. (Coughnewclutchcough). And my RX, if I try to show it who's boss, it blows a headgasket...damn turbos.
  5. I'd be worried about low clearance areas. I'm also working on light bars.
  6. Damn I posted this in the off topic section, this morning, like a good kid...
  7. Check this out...didn't know where to post it...Movie here
  8. Yeah, doesn't it caause cylinder washing, causing damage to the sylinder wall? From running too rich?
  9. Fuel filters? Could you have knocked the timing off a tooth or a few?
  10. Amen to everything GD said. As for aftermarket parts...what did you have in mind? Check out www.sjrlifts.com , www.headtraumainc.com or www.ozified.com
  11. There is another one "To all their own." As for megasquirt, I built a megaview unit for mine. I can for you, if you're interested. Also, he can get the basics down, with a cheap engine, cheap parts and no EJ conversion. Then, if he wants more power, he can step up to the EJ side.
  12. I'm working on some EA82 lifts...don't know the price though, not sure if I can compete...as the lift market seems kind of saturated.
  13. I second rockauto. They are $20 a piece...add shipping. You order on Monday, usually get them by Wednesday.
  14. I second the Krylon Fusion, or third it, I forgot.
  15. When you say "downpipe" I think of the pipe coming off the back of the turbo. Do you mean the "Y"pipe that comes off the heads and into the catylitic convertor?
  16. I'd guess the outlet of the stock system to be 1" to 1.25". I wouldn't put anything that would restrict the flow. What you'll have is the water pump trying to push 20gph through a 5gph pump if the system is setup like that and if it's the other way, the 5gph pump would starve the 20gph pump of water and cause cavitation and probably over heat. Find a pump with a bigger outlet/inlet and maybe higher gph, you'll be onto something. I thought about doing something like this on my Turbo'd GL-10. I know some VWs have electric water pumps that will run after the ignition is turned off to cool the car faster.
  17. Were the timing belts on it when you received it? They could be off timed. (I did this)
  18. Wow, sorry to hear about this. Hopefully things get better and you get your van back up to par.
  19. All the heads are the same, I believe. Except the turbo heads and the occasional Multi-Port head. They have 2 intake ports per head. the thing to do would get the heads pressure tested at a machine shop.
  20. I paid, haven't received yet. Address PM'd
  21. Maybe try occluding some of the radiator with a piece of cardboard? Start with 1/3 of it covered...then reduce if you want it cooler. That's why you see semi trucks with covers over their radiators... it reduces airflow and keeps the engines up in the prime operating temp range.
  22. Coughvendorforumcough I'll tell my friends about you, they have webers that need some lovin.
