  1. Why? It's a fuse isn't it? Not everyone has $15 to blow on an outdated fusible link.
  2. Wow, I'm glad to see someone preserving a Brat. Of all Subarus to get tossed into the metal cruncher, those should be the last.
  3. Ok, I'll chck that tomorrow. It is lifted and I've customized the shift linkage, I'll make sure it's all lining up. What if that doesn't solve itn what would be the next step? Thanks, [HTi] Johnson.
  4. Yup, reverse won't stay in gear. Could I take the reverse gears out of a non d/r transmission and put them in there?
  5. This is for a friend. He drives a 1986 chevy k10 4x4. He "hit a puddle" and the truck doesn't drive any more. You can put it in drive and it won't move. I locked the hubs and put it in 4wd and nothing...when I would put it back into drive at higher than idle, you'd hear the park gear ratchet to a stop. So, that's telling me the transmission is getting power... I'm thinking that the transfer case may have grenaded. Any ideas on how to check this? The front drive shaft will spin, by hand, while engaged in 4wd hi/lo. The truck will roll (not under power) when in drive and 4wd hi/lo. There is a lot of play in the rear shaft, where it enters the transfer case. And the truck is lifted so I'm assuming the drive shaft is sticking too far out, probably about 3.5" to 4". So, any ideas? This is an automatic transmission too. Thanks, Justin.
  6. Shipping is about $70 for a front and rear bumper.

  7. Here's my rule about HF: If it has more than one moving part, it'll probably fail you. I bought a torque wrench from HF and it fell apart on some lug nuts. Granted, I'm sure my friend may have used it for a hammer at times. HF is great for jackstands, gloves, and simple machines like pliers, screw drivers and hammers. I just never buy anything from them and expect it to last, however, my 2.5ton floor jack is still holding up after 6 years, but it has a slow leak when there's pressure on it.
  8. It's here . If you goto the next page, there is a link for FSM's from 1984 to 2008 or so. For almost every Subaru.
  9. Here's a whole FSM for an 83. Should be close enough. http://jdmfsm.info/Auto/Japan/Subaru/--Old%20Models--/
  10. Anything can be done with enough time and determination. Did the front end damage mess up the "square-ness" of the car? Do the doors still open easily?
  11. The clacking, TOD (tick of death) is what drove me to buy an outback. Granted, I bought the outback with the first gen DOHC and had head gaskets problems. I owned a RX and a GL-10 Turbo Wagon. I tried everything under the sun to relieve the TOD. I rebuilt the lifters, new oil pump, new seals, every oil from 0-30w to straight 30w, a quart of ATF in the oil, sea foam, other "sticky lifter" products and none of them worked. (I tried every remedy at different times, never two at once). The only thing that caused a pause in lifter noise was me being willing to write the engine off and tach it out to 10+grand RPMS for 3-5 seconds at a time, that would last about 50 miles. I did have luck with the stuff called CD-2, in my Outback. I just got done reading your thread about trying to get power out of an EA82t. I had 2.25" inch turbo back exhaust, Intercooler, intake, and a dual core radiator and still had problems. One of the first post I ever read here was from WJM. It went something like this "Cheap, Reliable, Fast. Pick two." Another words. Cheap and Fast isn't going to be Reliable. Reliable and Fast isn't going to be Cheap. Cheap and Reliable isn't going to be fast. Don't get discouraged. Do what you want. It's a good learning experience, if nothing else.
  12. If you have firefox, there's a plugin called "Down-Them-All", it allows you to download every single (insert file extension here) in 2 or 3 clicks. That's how I downloaded all the PDFs. By the way, there's TONS of FSMs too. http://jdmfsm.info/Auto/Japan/Subaru/
  13. How about this? http://jdmfsm.info/Auto/Japan/Subaru/--Articles--/--Endwrench--/
  14. I actually found endwrench articles. http://jdmfsm.info/Auto/Japan/Subaru/--Articles--/--Endwrench--/
  15. Where would I post this link? http://jdmfsm.info/Auto/Japan/Subaru/
  16. Well, I haven't seen any in any piles I've come acrossed. HAH hah. Thanks for the answers though.
  17. Will 2011 subaru legacy wheels fit on a 2011 forester. I'm thinking so, but don't want to find out the hard way. Thanks.
  18. Hello, I was wondering if a 2008 2.5 NA engine will be compatible with a 2006 RS? Thanks.
  19. Yes. I'm working out the shipping costs.

  20. My friend's 2006 2.5rs threw a rod, according to the mechanic shop. He's up at Fairchild AFB and I'm in Eugene Oregon, I haven't been able to confirm it. But would it be cheaper to rebuild the engine or just get an engine and drop it in (after changing all consumables)? Not sure why it threw a rod...it's an automatic that isn't railed on. It's his wife's car. And does anyone have any good places to pick up an engine? Thanks.
