Aiee! SOS! Save Our Subaru!
[HTi]Johnson replied to DirtyMech's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Fuel filters? Have you replaced those...I believe there are two. The one in the engine bay...and that pesky one most people forget about...it's in front of the rear passenger tire, next to the fuel pump. I've had those prevent cars from starting. I've spent hours trying to diagnose problems and it's turned out to be a fuel filter. Good Luck -
I was reading another post of your's. Did I read right...it's an automatic? If it is. You need to convert it to 5speed. If it is 4wd...make it a 5speed dual range. Pretty simple swap. You'll get more power to the ground. And if you add more things to your engine to gain or free up more horsepower...the engine could give. It's an old engine getting more power than it has been. Yes do the headgaskets if you don't know when they have been done...do a (next to) whole reseal if you can. When you have it apart, you can inspect it.

I infer you're trying to push the tierod up through the knuckle?

Well. Do a major tune up. Then look into a bigger exhaust...turbo back..I have a 2.25" exhaust. As for headers...I've heard the bigger the pipe the laggier your turbo gets...but you have a nice top end. And an intercooler helps a lot. Most people use one from a WRX, that's what I have. It'll take some custom bent tube and plumbing...but possible. ASk around...some people have some great intercooler (IC) designs. If you look at my gallery(the link is in my signature) you'll see my set up. I don't know how much HP I have, I know it's more than stock. Good Luck [HTi]Johnson

Need opinions for sube accesories
[HTi]Johnson replied to [HTi]Johnson's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
BUMP I noticed there isn't as many people logging onto USMB. Is it because of hurricane katrina? May I say, my heart is with the victims. -
I was thinking of trying my hand at making bumpers, lift kits, roof racks, and other miscellaneous (Geez, spelling) subaru accessories. But I would like to test the waters first, see if it is worth it. I would make them available for almost at cost (price of materials) + shipping. So who would be interested, and in what? Thanks. Hello all. I was interested in possibly rebuilding my turbo. Is this a better alternative to buying a new/used one? If so, anyone have one. For my 1987 GL-10 (EA-82t)

I live in the same town as Mudrat. There is at least 4 powdercoaters in a 10 mile radius. I work in a ornamental iron shop. We can send something off and get it coated the same day...in any color we want..you just have to find a shop that isn't busy.

I've never delt with a XT-6 but deltacams are an independent company up in washington....http://www.deltacam.com/ -
That looks awesome. I could make some...but they wouldn't be that pretty. But they'd serve the same purpose. Interested? Anyone? PM me with your interest.

THat's 30 degrees celcius folks. -
Hello. I saw an ad today for an $100 justy. They said that the crankshaft key had broke and spun the pulley. is that like a half moon key or a machined part of the crank.

What do you mean, matt?

hey all i searched the USRM for this but I couldn't find anything about...maybe I'm too impatient. OK I was thinking about putting a spider intake on my GL-10 turbo. I was wondering about what I would need. All the parts and such. Thanks.

as for the nissan and subaru key working for each other...I had my friend move my car, I threw him my key chain and he managed to start it with my 1987 Chevy Sprint key...as for me, I have yet to manage it.

Custom AEM cold air intake
[HTi]Johnson replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Cool, there's a lot of blue hoses . Cold air intake on a turbo? ... oh yeah, i guess the colder the air going in, the colder it is going out. Great idea. I'm gunna steal it. -
yeah, do it. I infer that you want to take the door with power windows, locks, and mirrors off and put the one that is all manual window, locks, and mirrors on...but maybe switch out the power locks and mirrors?
