Fast Idle Selenoid
[HTi]Johnson replied to [HTi]Johnson's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
So, no AC no fast idle needed? -
How can you test an O2 sensor? Oh yeah, my purge control selenoid is out...that could be a problem too?
-
Fast Idle Selenoid. How important is it. I just realized that mine is missing it's wire. (Not hooked up)
-
YES thank you so much

OH yeah, does anyone have the link to that FSM that that one aviation guy has. It's for like a 1988 EA82 turbo anyone know what I am talking about? Thanks.

Yeah, my car is running rich. I can smell it. I'll have to check that. THANKS.

front end problems
[HTi]Johnson replied to dragonwingsubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Front Half shaft AKA axle shaft or CV shaft. It's going out. Look for grease coming from one of the boots. It forces your steering wheel around doesn't it. My exact problem. -
I have a 1987 GL-10 Turbo. With a 5speed dual range. With an intercooler, no cats, and a cone filter. I get average of 18mpg. This seems pretty bad. I think, from reading other people's posts, that I should get at least 23mpg. Even when I don't drive it hard, I get about 18-19. I have replaced the plugs (NGKs), cap and rotor, and wires. I run either Shell mid-grade or Cheveron Mid grade gas. Timing is at 20' BTDC oh yeah, no codes either. Any tips? Thanks for yout time. [HTi]Johnson

5 lug conversion Qs
[HTi]Johnson replied to [HTi]Johnson's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I was thinking of doing it so I could run bigger tires...you think it would be cheaper to get some Allied Armament Rims? -
Hello all. I have a quick question, before I goto summer college (YAY...not really). What do I need to do a 5 lug conversion on my 87 Gl-10? All the parts listed, would be a good thing Look Late for my first day of my first class. That's typical of me. Late for everything. If you knew me, you'd think that was an understatement. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME.

SWEET. At least she's giving it to someone who will respect it for what it is. Right?

emblem glue removal
[HTi]Johnson replied to myfinalcoffinx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Goof off and goo begone tend to be Xylene based. Xylene is a pretty hot paint thinner...it could cause the paint to run. But yeah, if it's getting painted...why not try. -

Bearing questions
[HTi]Johnson replied to [HTi]Johnson's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
sealed or not sealed what's better? -
Hello. I need to replace my wheel bearings, no big deal (I hope). But I was thinking of going to a bearing warehouse, or what not, and getting some high grade, sealed, bearings. good idea or not? And could I have the bearing numbers for a 4wd 1987 GL-10 or equivalent. Thanks for your time. [HTi]Johnson

starting turbo header/up-pipe build (pics)
[HTi]Johnson replied to gravelRX's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Nice, so you're gunna make a custom up pipe? So any ideas on how you're gunna do it. and how wide is it gunna be. I was told, the wider the laggier, but better top end. -
Someone drilled holes in my exhuast pipe.

Yeah Clogged catylitic convertor. Do you have to pass smog inspections in california? If yes. Replace the convertor. If not, you can take all the stuff out of the convertor. with a flexible, but stiff, piece of rod. Just stick it in there and start jabbing. Stuff should come out the back side. It's best to do this with the pipe off. But I believe in most, if not all, states, it's illegal to not have a catylitic convertor. And in California, they're pretty strict. -
He's a one man operation. I give props to him for what I have seen him pull off. [HTi]Johnson

NWS what the hell? That is what? but ok. Everyone, Brad says, there might be "NWS" banners on that site. So be warned, especially if you don't know what NWS means, like me:lol:
