[HTi]Johnson replied to farva's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
CCR inc is a great company...they'll go out of their way to help you if you happen to experience any problems with thier products. -
Just got an '84 Wagon
[HTi]Johnson replied to krankitup's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
USRM Repair and mod I would replace the fuel filter(s), air filters, plugs, cap, rotor, wires...and then check the timing. I would replace the timing belts, if it is an EA82(Ea82's have timing belts, EA81s do not) -
EA82 (carb) - hesitates on accell.....why?
[HTi]Johnson replied to pmichaud's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Replace the fuel filters. Both of them One in the engine bay and one in front of the rear passenger tire, next to the fuel pump. And when you want him to check the jet....the car has to be on but not running. So the fuel pump is running, right? -
Got's no spark! Why??? FIXED!
[HTi]Johnson replied to subynut's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I noticed you have an accel coil in there. Maybe it decided to die? and You probably checked the basics right? Like the coil being hooked up right? Maybe the wire from the coil to the disty? I give this simple answers because I hope the fix is simple...which ,in my case, is my problem, usually. [HTi]Johnson With SPFI...do you use an electronic disty...like the MPFI turbos, with the crank position sensor in it? BTW, what are you doing with that weber? Once you get your SPFI to work. -
Yes. You would notice a big difference with a leak before the turbo...that's exhaust not spooling the turbo. Good job about fixing it! I had the same exact problem. [HTi]Johnson

Hey DeathHatch...do you have a Digi dash? If so, check your grounds.
-
Well, I pulled my clutch outta my EA81 engine...it only has about 3k easy miles on it.
-
Oh yeah, I completely spaced the wires...I'll get a cap, rotor, and wire set. DUH! Then I'll check the timing. Thanks...

Hello. One problem and one question. Problem: When I drive my 1987 GL-10 Turbo (DUH)..and I get into the throttle...it'll go..then stumble...almost like the waste gate is opening...allowing exhaust to bypass the turbo...it usually happens around 4000rpms...then if I push in the clutch and rev it up to like 6k then come back into gear, it'll go away for a bit. Anyone have a clue why? And. Will a EA81 Flywheel and clutch pack fit into a 5speed D/R Ea82?(Ok, so two questions) Thanks for your time, and wisdom [HTi]Johnson

You can convert it to 4wd drive. With little modification to the car, I believe. wait...4x4/FWD ? 5 SPEED!? In an ea81?
-
Are you saying that you are going to have mechanic do this work? I'd say that you could do it yourself. Just follow the instructions in the USRM Repair and Mod $1500 is steep for a reseal...I think. Considering how you could get a crate motor for what $750?

Carb rebuild? Fuel Filters?

But you could be one of the few to say "I have a Subaru 360" [HTi]Johnson

What did you do to the engine...did you put the t-belts on right? WHen I did my engine, I put the passenger side belt on wrong. So it was only running on 2 cylinders. [HTi]Johnson -

Noisy lifters on 2.7L XT-6
[HTi]Johnson replied to MG McAnick's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Do an oil change, and add 1/4 to 1/2 a quart of ATF, yes ATF to it. Drive it hard for a while...then putt around...then drive it hard, then putt around...then hard, it should go away. ATF is a detergent...it will help clean the lifters out, if anything is clogged. Maybe you do have an oil pump seal going bad, but this is a cheap try. [HTi]Johnson Oh yeah, when was the last time the oil was changed. Maybe it thinned out too much?? -

LSD + No Rear Swaybar = No Good?
[HTi]Johnson replied to BobBrumby's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sorry to jack your post... but what are swaybars made of...what kind of metal...spring steel? Thanks. [HTi]Johnson -
I'd start with fuel filter. If that doesn't help. Timing...on turbos I believe it is 20' BTDC. You have to hook the green connectors together ...which on my GL-10 are under the steering column behind a panel. There are two black ones too...don't connect those. They pull codes from the computer. Then check the cap and rotor...and wires. Or it could be your turbo crapping out..that's almost the worst case though. Pull the intake off the top of your engine and look for oil...well I guess you would be burning it too...does your car smoke alot? Sorry for the fragmented reply...hope it helps though. [HTi]Johnson
