Well, I took my muffler off. How do I know if I fried my CAT?

Hello. Today I took my 1983 Subaru GL with a 3AT with an EA8T engine on the dunes. It did really well, then I went down a hill messed around and then tried top get back up this hill, 2 hours later ,driving the heat gauge to 1/8" under the max mark, and having a "A.T. Oil Temp" light come on all the time, I got out. THen the car started to idle high(around 6700RPM), but that was just a stuck valve. OK my problem is when I get to 4000RPM in 1rst it starts bogging and spazzing out, then in 2nd at 3000rpm it spazzes and in 3rd at 2300RPM is craps out. It's like chugging and revving up then down. I haven't had a chance to look at any problems. but at 800rpm it's timed 11deg BTDC. This only happend after i took it in the sand. THere was a lot of bouncing and jarring, along with high revs and bogs. I was thinking it was the govenor, but I don't have the chance to look till tomorrow. SPREAD IT ON (The suggestions) THANKS!

I'd have someone with a sube, preferrably one like your's go there...see what's going down. Maybe it's some crazy thing like the bremuda triangle. Oh and the dude who overheats going North, is that more uphill than the trip south?? -

I was wondering how to go about getting a title for an abandon vehicle. I know where one is at an apartment complex that the Manager said has been there for weeks and she said I could have at then kick the rest to the street and let the city deal with it. I don't feel like stripping a car that isn't mine and isn't postivly "Abandoned".

Hello. I have an EA81 engine. Is there any tips/tricks to get better air intake?

Will that kind of amperage fry anything? I've heard of people getting the wrong Alternator (a 90amp when it was supposed to be a 60) and it fried the battery and a couple other electrical components.

I have an 1983 3AT Soob with push button 4wd. I plan on a tranny swap....is there any physical differences with D/R and S/R trannies? Like length ..etc.

I was thinking that I should replace my stock ALternator with a high output one, good idea? If so what are some suggestions? Or should I buy a reliable OEM standard? Maybe an underdrive pulley? THanks, [HTi]Johnson

HEY THANKS EVERYONE. I messed around with that band thing on the side of the tranny, I still need to adjust it a little. I looked at the govenor, it was fine, but the housing was loose, would that cause slipping? It was leaking some fierce ATF. SO i put some Liquid Gasket on it and tightened it back down. Now i have 3rd gear. What would happen if I tighted the rear brake band too tigh anyways? -
Hello. I just bought an 83 SUbaru GL 4wd 4d HB. It will move in 1st and 2nd gear but when it gets to 3rd it revs out. It seems like it is slipping. Any solutions? And when i give it gas, it bogs down and dies most the time. This is usually when it is hot. Any solutions to this one? Thanks for your time. Would it just be easier to swap the AT for a MT? And if so, are the same year/engine size directly compatible?
