  1. I can agree I think I'm going to try running without them see where that goes, I might install a skid plate to cover the belts to the oil pan but im not sure where I can connect it all. Today im gonna check all the seals and hopefully get the engine out... I do remember at one point traveling to Durango the car did over heat and stall, perhaps that was the event that melted the covers but with this does that mean that a lot of harm was done to the engine. Obviously overheating til it stall s no good but after that it ran perfect, with the right amount of fluids..
  2. Thats what I have herd what if im doing a lot of mudding and driving in the snow will that affect the belts in any way?? What other 'precautions' should I take while having them off? Firstly I was going to take out my engine and tranny to inspect some issues it had before it got parked such as, No R gear, and puttering while trying to start.
  3. I was in process of pulling my engine out to do a big amount of work to the car and before I could even pull it out I realized that the cover (more or less on the driver side) Is melted I couldn't get a good snap shot cause of the sun I will post one later... Does anyone know why or how this happened?? Its a 5spd 2wd. TIA
  4. WOW its been a while since I have posted anything here (mainly cause of family losses and me loosing my job) So quick update timing belts are kaput everything else is fine but my timing belt casings are melted and I have no idea why
  5. This wagon is AMAZING good job looks really clean! Make me wanna go build my 89GL wagon like this .....Which I am considering
  6. Got decently far on the swap just hard to find time now. Pics will be up soon of both the roo's. I'm just stumped on my transmission that wont go into reverse why???????? And I was thinking of buying all wrx under carage and engine and throwing it in the gl parts car Obviously I'm just dreaming though
  7. I found this YouTube video yesterday of a Multi championship rally car driver. He drives a new 2011 Subaru WRX STI for the Isle of man TT track record. After seeing this subaru get up to 500+ hp and gets close to 160 is just amazing. What do you think about these new ones I'd really love to take one out in the snow
  8. Welcome aboard! Nice looking Subies you got especially the maroon 2.5rs looks soo nice! I'm also in the Albuquerque area, good too see some subie nuts in this area What are your plans for the red brat? Just daily driver? I got my self a little loyale off roader
  9. Didn't get to the oil pan but I did get to the exhaust. We finally got rain and I took the subie out and I found I have No reverse It wont go into gear but will ride smoothly on all five forward gears. Im something is wrong with the transmission linkage but im not a hundred%
  10. First Subaru? Very nice My first was a 04 Outback But some hours later and a broken pinkie Finally got the original problem fixed, new front hubs bearings and axle. Even threw some exhaust protectors on the exhaust Although I need to change my oil pan it hit a pretty nice rock a while back, figure while I'm doing all this work I should fix that. How exactly do I get the oil pan off? I've taken all the screws on the sides and front but can't get to the back row.
  11. Well got almost everything off Just been working on getting my car up to my house its a long drive for a rope tow so im putting plates on my trailer or just throw a car dolly on the truck and drive up here. I'll post pics as soon as I figure out how to do so. Also im thinking fo some grippy tires Im taking off the wheel wells to allow bigger tires! Any suggestions??
  12. And upgrade I shall!! I'll keep posted on everything that is done. But just wondering can I use the same transmission as the loyale? Or so I have to change that over as well? I know I have to switch gas tanks anything else that I should be aware of??
  13. Yes dumb part on me! Gotta learn some way though I went bought a older GL wagon that the jy had bought it for $600 had pretty much everything except interior and engine so I brough it home stripped it down including 4x4 and im gonna put it in the loyale. Hopefully if planned right this will become a thread for my loyale (sam) Already got: Struts Axles power steering Tomorrow I take off the driveshaft and rear end. I would just replace the bearings but once I saw how cheap the parts car was I figured might as well buy it switch everything out and make it 4x4 Believe it or not but for a 2wd Loyale it sure would go anywhere:lol:
  14. Made it out fine, but as im driving down the highway my car just wont go anymore. Long story short driver side axle is shot both hubs are shot and all the berrings on both driver and passenger side (front) are shot. Firestone says its gonna cost at least $1300 to fix. Whats the cheapest way to fix all of this?? Im really SOL on this one and they said they have to order the parts and it will take at least a couple weeks to get parts. Info: 1993 Loyale 5 spd 2 wheel drive. TIA
  15. If so lets see it! Does anybody have a dual battery set up going on?? I'm pretty sure I'm gonna put that in my Loyale. Ive seen a lot of rigs with dual batteries, do you have one? post pics! -493
  16. I need help building a custom roof rack for my loyale Is needs space for 16 lights and a mini custom tool box for emergency kits and sand. Whats the best metal type thats lightweight and tough?? Its gonna be one hell of a rack! -493
  17. I say head gasket because when I get under the car it looks like its coming from the head, and plus the over heating. It is rather weird, when I let the car sit for a couple hours it drips and sooner there is a decent bit of coolant under the car. I fill up the reserve and it gets drained fairly quick, but it does not drain fast when I put it directly in the radiator. To top it off today I filled both with water (to see exactly where the leak is coming from) and its leeks anti freeze, just assuming thats whats left from the last fill up. Its not clogged cause going up hills it does not heat up. I think it might be my tsat..:-\
  18. I'm checking the plastic reserve. There is no white exhaust at all. I have not checked the thermostat hoses. It might be clogged cause thats when it started heating up bad, How can I unclog it? so I need to remove the radiator completely?? -493
  19. So I have a 1993 Subaru Loyale 1.8l non turbo 2wd. It for some time (2months) has had a coolant leak, pretty sure it's the head gasket. It goes through coolant like there is no tomorrow but when I check the coolant hardly any is missing. Just last night as I was driving home it started to heat up so I drove to the nearest gas station and by that time it was above the HOT. I let it sit for sometime started it up and it still continued to heat up. Any reason why this is happening? I'm confused and feel like I'm missing something. I've checked all hoses and am out of ideas on what might be going wrong. Thanks in advance.
  20. It's a Subaru, 2wd 4wd or AWD it'll do good. A couple weeks ago I took my 93 Loyale sedan 2wd in the snow it went right threw a foot of powder no problem.
  21. So this morning I wake up and warm up my subie then it just shut off I tried restarting it but it would just putter at one point the gas pedal was all the way down and the RPM's were not going anywhere. Now it wont start at all... Any ideas on what happened?? It's a 93 sedan loyal 5spd 2wd Thanks in advance. -493
  22. Ok excellent thanks! I'll give that a try now. Do you know why I'm not getting any power from the battery?? -493
  23. I went to put anti freeze in my Loyale this morning and when I went to pull the hood latch it came out more than it should and now my hood wont open. On top of that it WILL not start I recently (a week ago) put in new battery teminals. How can I open my hood with out the latch and why do I have no power!? PLEASE HELP Thanks in advance -493
  24. I actually got everything even wiring! The WRX it came out of was wrecked in the back and he was parting it out.
