well dang, now I need to start all over. what engine would fit perfect and what trans would be perfect for this? I want to make this a racer but if its really not possible Ill go with a 98-2001 impreza RS. thanks SJ

ok guys I havent been on in awhile because the brat broke and I got a WRX:banana: But im looking forward to fixing the brat after college and I thought I would go ahead and get my idea out there incase anybody has any ideas on how to make my ideas better ECT... ok so I have a 1984 brat 4WD 1.8L 4-speed dual trans The cam blew on the 1.8l( which is why im not driving it) I want to take a EJ20 2L short block and put it in the brat. I also want to turbo it with a stock 2006 WRX turbo(TD04) Possibly swap trans and put a 5-speed dual range in it because I want to be able to still switch between FWD and 4WD because I want to keep it an 80's Subaru. I also want to do a custom drop on the back to level out the brat. Im going to have to do a 5 lug swap or get custom wheels made because my wheels have a slight "angle" in them so they shake at high speeds. I mainly want to make this a fast car. there arnt any of these around here and I would like to have the first:) I have a few questions so will start with the main one first: Can I even swap a EJ20 2L short block into an 1984 Brat? and if I turbo it will an 80's 5-speed dual trans hold up to that much power? or should I go AWD? Feel free to give me your opinions. any help will be helpful. SJ

I stored the brat today until I can get a new engine. and time to fix it. I still have for sale a 4 inch lift kit for the ea81 brat. it has all the things for the lift including the 4 inch longer back springs. ALL BRAND NEW! $500 takes it. How much for a cam? and I dont know what else is wrong with the engine, other things could be wrong. I guess I could take it out next week during spring break. give me a price quote and shipping on a cam for a ea81. SJ

Ill do what I can. the brat already has some hail damage. the windshield is cracked and there are some dents on the hood. I was going to get around to fixing them but now it seems like im going to have to wait till I get an engine. should I keep the lift and wait till I get the brat running( which I dont know how long that will be) or should I sell the lift and put the money into my WRX? SJ

not will what I make, I looked into carports so I can leave it in the garage and park outside but there out of my price range. SJ

There is a law that says I cant park on the side of my house, so i guess the brats going to be stored outside, but Im going to put a tarp on it and cover the windshield with cardboard and stuff to protect it from hail damage. still desciding if I want to sell the lift, Ill make this a feeler, so any takers? SJ

2 months ago my 84' brat dies, blew a cam on the highway, brought it back to my house and put it in the garage. its been sitting there ever since. were trying to find a engine or someone who can rebuild mine. but now that its hail season and I need to park my other can thats actually running in the garage so it doesnt get damaged. can I park it on the side of the house? or is that some code violation? if I can park it there then disregard everything im about to say. so the plans were to lift this beast 4 inches and put 15's and 27's on her but now my mom thinks we should store it at my grandfathers place until it gets fixed, but im worried about never getting it fixed and it just sitting another 5 years. so what I have to say it that if i store it at my grandfathers then I have a full 4 inch lift kit for sale. Brand New. -4 inch lift kit -4 inch back shocks all together I payed $440 for the lift and $60 for the shocks so Im looking to at least get my money back but ill go with $600 takes it all. thank you SJ

No,the distributor is fine.

we took the distributor out and shined a flashlight down the hole and the piece at the end of the hole( crank,cam, you probably know what it is) was moved so we stuck a screw driver down there to see if it was broken and it was, theres a piece of metal about the size of a small golf ball that moves freely. what do you think? SJ

Crank or cam broke in the brat today. the part were the distributor connects. completely broke off. stuck a screw driver down there and it moves around. Im looking for a new engine so the brat will never die! I guess after I do the engine swap Ill put the broken engine up for sale/trade if anybody wants to fix it. its out of my skill level to fix it. SJ
