Really !!! Your going to scap it because of a clutch and alternator issue??? Really!!! There has to be someone that can help, unless there is massive rot, please don't take to the junk yard..... Sadness. I see too many older Subaru' s in Vegas yards intact and restorable. I cried when I saw a 88 gl-10 sedan last week, and it was a Flat 4 members car, which made it even worse..

Can my 93 Loyale EA82 have died?
superpoo93 replied to myhilo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yes non-interference engine. I bought my water pump from Autozone no problems 60,000 miles later...works perfect. Rock Auto has quality material, with that said... I bought my TIming Belt kit off EBay before knew of ROck Auto. You can take off oil pan, but you have to raise engine up to do so. I would drain oil, and see if any metal comes out first. You said the left side belt broke, was it the drivers side??? If so, I would not worry about the engine, since it would have died quickly, just get a timing belt kit and start her up. -
Are you sure the engine mounts are good? You loosened the cross member bolt and jacked engine up? I thought mine were good too... Till I took the weight off them... Both were Trashed!!

EA82 Excellent -> Dead (turns over) Help!
superpoo93 replied to Bekokatt's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I forgot to ask which distributor you used when you did the engine swap. I assumed that you used the one from the Loyale, but you probably used the original.. -

superpoo93 replied to Bekokatt's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Check the rotor....the screw can back out and be sitting on the top. Rotor will still turn, like all is good. Pull up on the rotor -

RF vibration when turning at speed
superpoo93 replied to rrgrr's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Does seam to understeer ?? I had a issue where I had vibration and clunk while driving.. When turning fast, it would push to the outside...like it was sliding. It was loose bolts connecting strut to the knuckle. Check bolts make sure they are tight, then look for other issues. -
I agree with you Mr Loyale, if its not broken ...why fix it. It's your choice, it's easy enough to go back in later, and change them if they start making noise.
-
I still had noise after changing oil pump. Mizpah was the way to go, no more noise. If they don't have lifters to buy, go to junk yard and pull nice oily ones from a donor and ship to them... I think it took a week to get them back.
