  1. Best so see what the insurance offers you for the car totaled, because it is! Try to see if you can find any comparable ones for sale here, Autotrader.com, Ebay etc. Information is very important dealing with insurance companies. Do be in a hurry to be cleared by a doctor or settle. Employee of mine was T-boned a year ago. Came back to work the next week and his wrist swells big time. They missed a broken bone in his wrist and ends up with surgery. He was out of work over three months. You want records of any work you missed, or could have worked such as overtime, miles traveled back and forth to doctors etc. I wish you well and good luck, Subarus are replaceable and you are not. Looks like you took a good whack so you could have issues show up a few days later.

  2. Was your question anything like they might have slipped you 87 for premium! I fear the samething for my wife's Forester XT. I told my wife to fuel that bad boy up at the highest traffic station in the town she works at.

Many of the older under ground tanks have been replaced with above ground tanks in North Carolina. I buy my regular at the distributor here in Aurora because they have nonethanol regular. They also sell tires and I have been dealing with them for way over thrity years so they cut me some slack! I am sure it is a funny sight to see a lil Brat waiting in line with the fuel trucks to get gas!!! They also sell it to one station about twenty miles away which is the second place I buy fuel.

  3. If my gauge didn't work I would fill it up like above. The only difference is everytime I hit about 200 miles I would fill it up again. You are better off with a tank mostly full than empty. Suppose the station runs out of gas, power goes out, etc. Your more likely to suck trash up into your filters also. Might be time for a good tune up, just saying! But gas for the most parts suck now.

  4. Yes, you are missing the frame piece at the top. I have never seen a plastic Brat radiator. You can still purchase replacements just the same. I replaced mine on our 87 Brat about 8-9 years ago. Seems I got it shipped from a place on the west coast for a little over $100.00, of course that has been a while ago.

  5. Could it possibly be the electrical contact side of the switch? I found a factory replacement for my 87 Brat earlier this year. Mine was shorting out causing voltage spikes and random no start issues. I still have the same lock just replaced the contact side. Just wondering if the contact side could cause the op's problem.

Also if you have too much oil in the crankcase you should see air bubbles, foaming mixed in the oil on the dipstick. If you don't have that your oil level maybe high but not causing any issues. My oil pressure has indicated low once before. I replaced the sender not saying that is your problem. I verified my pressure with a gauge like GeneralDisorder recommends. Curretly shows slightly under 20 lbs. hot at idle and around 50 at highway speeds.

  6. Can't help you because I am an east coaster. But I will say Boulder is beautiful as is most all of Colorado, been there four times. My oldest lived in Colorado for 7 years; Colorado Springs, then Castle Rock and finally Denver the last 5 years. Never seen so many Subarus in my life as in Colorado. I visited her about ten times in Colorado. She even email me quite a few times to tell me she just had seen a Brat today and made me think of you! Enjoy as much as you can and you are in Subaru heaven so parts should be many and close by. So many beautiful trails and mountains to hike.

  7. Not that hard really to put in late model Subaru seats. I think it took me maybe 2-3hrs. with a drill, sawzall and a few bolts! I included a picture so you could see what they look like. I got lucky on these as I bought them back in 04 or 05. They had been pulled new out the car for rally racing and sat in a garage. Think I paid less than $300.00 with shipping from Fla. to NC. Best money I ever spent on the Brat. I wouldn't even considering putting old seats back in when late model legacy, Forester, Impreza and WRX seats can be made to fit fairly easy.

  8. One oz. per 5 gals. is not enough to adjust timing over. Older gas had lead for a lubricant. Modern gas is fairly dry and would probably do better with a small trace of oil in it. I been using a little Mystery oil in my Brat for years. Also drop an oz. per tankful in my Suzuki Bandit. Two stroke oil might be a cheaper alternative. Seems like I remember reading something on the motorcycle forum several years back about a TC3 two stroke oil as being the best. Don't quote me as it was a long time ago and I had thought abouit trying it but never did.
