  1. The Gates kit I bought for my wife's XT had a Chinese water pump. I was very disappointed and did not install it. I think, may be wrong, Aisin is a factory water pump. All the components in the Aisin kit were made in Japan if my memory is correct, this was a few months ago. I used an Aisin kit on my daughter's 2010 Impreza. Will install an Aisin kit on the EJ22 I am putting in my Brat. I'll probably get it from Rockauto also along with seals and gaskets.

  2. Number 16 was the problem with my 87 Brat also. Seems like I remember splitting the the base horizontally about an inch or so past   where the pin went in. Using a SAE bolt, nut and locking washer compressing the collar on to the shaft. This was a popular shifter tightening procedure many years ago. I would guess I did my 87 well over ten years or more ago and it is still tight to this day.

  3. Do you have your return line still hooked up? Should be on the fuel filter under the hood in front of driver's side. You may need a fuel regulator to reduce pressure going to the Weber. I think mine is set for around 2.5 lbs. fuel pressure. I think all I have is the vacuum line from distributor, wire to chock and fuel line along with throttle cable of course hooked to mine. All other vacuum lines capped or removed.

  4. A 2" lift would most likely solve your issue. In the back of the fender is it hitting the mudflap? If so trim it. In the front if it is just barely scrapping try rolling the edge of the fender in. When I did those two things 195/75-14 all terrains worked okay on my 87 Brat. I was using Pug steel rims. First 5-8k miles if the steering was locked and I hit a pothole, like in a store parking lot, they would scrape on the front. After 5-8k never heard them scrape again.
