Sweet Bumpers! We used to use a hole saw in a drill to get the notches. Hole saw same diameter as the OD of the tubing. Just leave the piece you want a couple of inches long. With a little practice you will get the angles just right.

ea82 oil pump seal part numbers?
bigjimd replied to l75eya's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You are welcome. That group doesn't list the oil pump shat seal though. LT does and you might as well replace that while you have it apart. Good luck I hope that cures your tickiness. It shut the daughters car up for about a month. We wound up with all new seals and rebuilt lifters. She's been quiet for a couple of months now. Those cam carrier seals are a hookie deal. Ours were all out of shape and rock hard. KInda cool to have the mechanic that just did the yearly required inspection say he had never seen an old Subie with a clean engine. -

How about a shop putting a pressure type bleeder on it. I know that doesn't fit my idea of DYI either. -

You sure turn out some nice projects for working with a limited budget. At our house its the same way and more of a challange than just throwing money at doing things.

Be nice now that's my baby girls car. -
As George Carlin was fond of saying "Mammalian protruberances"! (insert appropriate 3 letter word) Me, I'd like to see some underside pics. How did you split off the drive train? It looks like the rear has the auto style hubs such as Toyota used on the front when they didn't use the locking hubs. Sweet rig.

If I had pulled it in further and trimmed some of the big plastic handle it would work fine in Fizgig. There is at least 3/4" of plastic to trim and still have a handle to grab. If you take your time with the plastic and sand it smooth working up in grit it would come out presentable. I bet if you repaired the bushings this would work. The depth was dependent on where I drilled the side plates. It could have gone another 3/4" higher as well. The piece of wood was to keep tension against the rails so the slide wouldn't pull all the way out. If you tucked it right up under the radio you wouldn't need the wood. Thinking about it I bet it would work up high if you put the radio down in the lower posistion where the equalizer would fit it might work. To use it low I swapped the slides 180 and flipped the whole rig over. Then just turn the radio bezel 180 as well. Don't know didn't try that. I put it underneath so it didn't block the radio face. This is the way it mounted origionally, before it flipped it over and started wacking on it.

Thanks my baby girl made them I will tell her you like em, she redid the door cards as well. Here ya go.

Took a bit of fididdling and still needed to be tweeked a bit to work with the 5mt would have been fine with an at, but baby girl didn't like it. Got to come up with something different now. We put a little storage pocket in the radio cover under the radio and she keeps her Ipod there so she didn't want to loose that. The rig came out of some kinda later model Sbbie where it was mounted above the radio.

i want to confirm something with you guys

I had my HLA's rebuilt, was a lot cheaper than new items. Did all the othger recomended steps, and so far doing great. Sounded like hell at first start up though. Thought I had destroyed the poor little thing. -
You need to stack em to replicate the grip range of the origional bore thread. If not they will pull. And that will not be pretty.
-
I hope this aint a hijack, but. I just swapped a 5mt in place of a 3at in the daughters car 93 Loyale FWD so don't have a referance. Mr. Pickle (sorry couldn't resist) mentioned having to push the pedal all the way to the floor to disengage. We put all new clutch components in but reused a good used factory cable. I did the install of the cable just as GD recomended in his post but you have to push the clutch to the floor. Is that sop?

You continue to amaze and inspire me! The Chevy with a 22r in it is just to cool. Here in the states that conversion is just the other way around. Just trick. Can we help you with parts for the weekend warrior yet. I have a upulit close that's really inexpensive and would be glad to help you out. Glad to see you got your car safe for your family. When we take the steer horns off the daughters car would you like them?- 88 replies

Kostaman before too long you need to put a bit of oil in that cylinder and crank it a bit. The water in the mix will start rusting the wall around the ring where the stuff you couldn't get out is sitting. Pull all the plugs so it spins easy.
