  1. Hey,

Sorry I just found this, and pretty much by accident lol. I am interested in talking with you about the interior. Let me take stock of whats good and bad then I'll drop you an email :)

  2. Hey, Plans so far include ; a weber, a grill guard, a hideaway head unit so I can leave the dash intact and maybe one of the headlight grills down the line . Been using the search function to try and scare up a good write up on doing the weber swap, but so far nothing promising. Also have a potential seat swap scoped out at the local P&P as the original seats are showing their age.
  3. Hey! The wagon got in last night from Illinois and man am I thrilled! Took it for a drive today , and it runs and drives great. I'm going to include a few pics..not the best quality , but you can see she is in pretty nice shape. The undercarriage is totally rust free, and there is maybe half a dozen little surface spots from scratches . http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu134/ogrekhan/DSC00140.jpg http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu134/ogrekhan/DSC00142.jpg http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu134/ogrekhan/DSC00141.jpg http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu134/ogrekhan/DSC00143.jpg
  4. Pic! Well anyway going to try a pic lol. http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu134/ogrekhan/NewRoo1.jpg
  5. Hey, I was just taking the previous owners word on the 1.6L part. That would have been the EA-71 right? My friend said a light came on that read emissions when he got over 60mph, is that by chance a symptom of that feedback carb? Light went off as soon as he got off the highway.
  6. Hey, Took more than a little searching , and the patience to look at a few lemons and pass; but I found what I think is a gem in this 83 GL wagon. The outside is very nice with no rust at all as far as I know. Interior is a bit rough , but very workable with some nice options. It's a 1.6 ltr with a 4 spd, and has 190k on it. So far in the plans will be a weber conversion, and a sprucing up of the interior. Apparently it was rust proofed when new and it's history shows it to be a California car originally . I spotted it on CL in Wisconsin , and a buddy of mine who lives about an hr away scoped it out and made the buy for me. I don't actually have my paws on it yet , but he is visiting here in 2 weeks so hes driving it here for me to boot."good to have great friends hehe!" I have some pics , but not sure how to go about posting them yet. Might look into swapping in a 5 spd or perhaps a motor tranny combo down the line... any suggestions? Can't wait to see it in person:grin: Jeremy.S
  7. Ok, Found an 83 Wagon.. The guy says its in great shape and about 190k. Its a 4 spd with a 1.6. Wondering if there are any known issues with the 83 model yr? Jeremy.S
  8. Hey, I think you'd be further ahead to find a decent replacement engine from a local yard. or peruse your local craigslist for a rusted out donor car like matador, wagoneer etc. There are tons around here to be had on the cheap not sure about your neck of the woods. Jeremy.S
  9. Hey, Thanks for the warm welcome all. I didn't have the inclinometer on my Terc or I'd have saved it. Going to call on an 86 gl wagon tomorrow about 360 miles away tomorrow. Supposed to be an Arizona car imported to the rust belt and run good . I hope the guy is on the level..12 hr round trip will make for a grumpy Ogre otherwise lol. Anything I should ask him or look out for on the 86?
  10. Neat! My hometown is Smithland , and my family still farms out that way. There are some nasty trails and climbs on the home place. I have done some pretty risky/dumb/fun things out there with my international 1 ton and the 69 scout we had out there. Small world eh?
  11. Hey all, Been lurking here for a bit and just signed up. I don't own a Subaru as yet, but I used to be the proud owner of a 4x4 Tercel wagon that died awhile back from terminal rust. While searching for a replacement a buddy of mine began preaching to me the virtues of the early Subaru wagons. Long story short, I'm looking into finding one as an alternative to the Terc. Neither car seems very common in these parts so I'm guessing I will have to be very patient, or travel to get one. I'm a better than fair mechanic/fabricator , and hope I can help out from time to time here with that knowledge . I'm not really the extreme offroading type, more a fan of the amazing utility and practicality of these vehicles. 30+ mpg and impressive 4x4 capabilitys are hard to beat. Anyway, just thought I would say hello, and if anyone has a line on a 4x4 wagon near my neck of the woods I'd love to hear about it . Jeremy.S
  12. Hey, Is this the Timber Ridge near Smithland Iowa?
