I swapped my 5psd trans today...just the driveline left and console.. It drives great in 2wd...smooth shifts...no shot syncros... and reverse doesn't grind.... I don't like the starter setup ..so I'll get an ea82 starter so it works properly... I need to rewire the sensors for the ea81 harness(hi/lo range) to the ea82 harness. Tommorrow the rear disc swap goes in ...had to order rear brake hoses to the calipers..upullit cut them..... I'll post pics soon..

I was at u pullit and found an 86 RX..So I promptly took the LSD out and rear disc brakes... I will have to convert the LSD to a 3.9 as it is a 3.7 ratio..

I found some 6lug Isuzu wheels and painted them black. A redilling of the hubs was fun...I fitted the wheels with some free wild country rvt A/T that were from a scapped van in our shop yard They were like new.. 235/75/15 (28.9"dia) . abit of fender trimming firewall bashing..

I just picked up a 5spd D/R from upullit so my hatch is getting the conversion...My 3rd gear syncro is shot on the 4spdD/R(as it was when I got the car...) . I looks like I can reuse my ea81 flywheel until I do the EJ swap. Spacing of the starter 4/6mm back with washers. My driveline cut to 48" tube only Will the clutch cable work ok ? My ea81 is 36.25" long and the Ea82 is 33.4" Also is the speedo drive on the Ea81 trans the same as the Ea82 ? Other than the shift linkage mount is there anything else to modify?

Looks like a few hot springs in the area too....one near greenleaf pk. about 4 miles from town. Possible wheelin at the powerlines and a route to Three corner rock which has some awesome singletrack for mtn bikers..! Wind river has some great singletrack as well..lots of downhill if ya shuttle.. Beacon rock is close by for those who rock climb as well. PCT is close too for hikers.. maybe I'll buy a salmon from one of the indians for $20 @ cascade locks... Fire up the barbe.. -

I took this shot when we were up at the The slab... Think the camo paint in this area was perfect...

I met up with Chris and saw Ken(Qman) at parc-xpose' Sat. I got to spectate with my son and was showered with gravel many times .. One spectator got hit in the balls .. Some of us were thinkin' a flak vest and a cup...would be a good idea.. It was a great weather and the views of the coast were fantastic...! The road to Tahola spectator area that was not locked in was very rough...I saw many cars and heard alot of crunching of undercarriages ...! although with my lifted outback I cruised past many cars including STi's....For once I get the advantage and can go faster than an sti.... This guy in a F350 was amazed how easy I was tailling him on the rough stuff and would've passed if there was space.... One of the cars on the Tahola stage drove right through the end of stage..into spectator area..according to Ryan Doubtit(subiesport) who filmed the whole thing..! Spectators went scattering.... from what I heard it was a brake failure and or bad co driver instructions..who knows...luckily no one was hurt it could've been really ugly!!! It was a great day for us, lots of excitement...and great weather! With a long drive home...round trip was just under 500miles... I downed my share of redbull...(Pastrana's sponser...)

I'm almost done with the camo the roof is the only part left.. Abit more braces welded in the bumper... I had abit of a setback the night before when my rear u-joint was coming apart.....lucky I didn't drop the driveline....whew..! So I changed both U-joints..

Don't think for a minute that an under powered car is not capable of hitting a ditch, rolling..., trees..We joked about a guy who had a 1.8l na car and he almost totalled it...!!! I've been crewing for a few years now with Primitive racing and we've seen it all.... Good luck and have fun...It's an easy win if ya survive all the stages/races..

I welded up my fog light tabs and mounted them up.. I still have lots of bracing/welding to do before the winch goes back on..\ Too boot... I'm driving the hatch all week..Gotta get those studs removed(or what's left of them..lol)

Four arrested for illegal wheeling near Hood River
scoobyclimbs replied to TeamCF's topic in Off Road
I hate to see this stuff happen... it just takes the wind out of the wheelin sails... I've been on about every side of the issue with land use.. As A hiker, mtn. biker, equestrian, Wheeler, ..so I hug trees for many different reasons...I want to preserve as well and have access...It's a fine line.. -

I've been busy upgrading much needed compenents of the hatch.. A rear mounted fire extinguisher in the hatch and power port for compessor, etc... I dreaded the black hole when I opened the hatch at night so I added a six LED light mounted on the hatch and it is so bright..the pic below is stand alone with no flash from the camera..! Next I had started onthe camo paint..abit of green/black..I need to finish..but you get the idea... I had purchased a 3,500lb winch and needed to fab a bumper so here is some progress...I used thin walled tubing .065" and some other peices..it's very light but strong...! I used the corners of the factory bumper to fill in the big gap left at the ends...Then mounted LED marker and turn signal lamps.. So much to do... so little time...

I'm ready when you foot the bill...

Just to pivot around..otherwise it was 4 lo..especially with a welded diff. working against you in tight turns....
-
I picked up Superu(visiting PDX) in my outback , then swapped rigs to my hatch and headed out to TSF. I got to FIrebreak 5 and was stoked...I cleaned that difficult section of tight , rocky ,muddy using the Font wheel drive to pivot around a bolder. Jason (Team CF calls on the CB (lucky 13) I told him were on firebreak 5 and I'm cleaning it... Team CF arrives.. Then a minor setback of hanging the rear diff on a rock. I jacked up the back and stacked some rocks under the rear wheels to give me that extra clearance then pulled ahead in front wheel drive to keep the rocks form kicking out under the rear wheels . It was so slick that the car wound up sliding all over the place....so picking a line was just luck.. I only got a minor ding in the lower drivers rocker,door... Just getting through that section this time of year ups the difficulting rating..summer time it would be easy.. At the top intesection we met back up with team cf...I was snowing on and off..then I let Superu ride with team cf the rest of the day as I headed off to work...we saw a nasty rollover wreck just down from the summit a chev 4x4 totalled...on hwy 6. I was a good day I was happy to have cleaned that section of firebreak 5 ...It made my day... I'll post pics soon and superu will have some in a couple weeks when he gets back home..Good times

Overspray....really the only overspray was on the bumpers .. If you read the earlier post about a custom bumper for the winch those bumpers won't be there..(besides both bumpers are banged up . So abit of overspary ain't gonna hurt em..there are so many dings on this car if anything the camo blends it in bettter.. It's not a show car and if it is it'll have a large spattering of mud... I plan on doing more green/khaki in the paint scheme.. This summer I might do the body work and paint..we'll see..

I was growing tired of black so...I found some cheap camo paint rustoleum earth for $3.89 a can....three and half cans later my I had a new hatch paint scheme...for now.. I also removed the rear flares..
