At least you got to wheel the night before! Bummer about the carnage...missing the mudrun.

Here's what I did the last day of the year...These folks were lucky I came upon them! Plus some fun wheelin' prior to that at Mt.Hood. http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=69998#post69998

Looks like a blast Chaz! We will have to hook up again and go wheelin'

We had a great time given the short amount available. Bryan you forgot the red Chevy 3/4 ton diesel 4x4 I pulled out as well...so that makes five pulls...Bryan and I tag teamed the pulls quickly and efficiently. Great to see some familar faces and new ones as well. I will say there was way too many folks who had no business being up there unprepared....if a storm rolled in it would've been ugly. I've climbed Rainier and have seen perfect sunny days turned to hell in hours..reguardless of forcasts(mountains create their own weather). thx Ken for the quick pull. I got pulled out again farther down when tryin to pass a truck . The snow conditions were such it was easy to get stuck & especially offtrack. A few pics from my perspective.

Anyone interested in playin ' in the snow at Mt.hood let me know I plan on heading up to Devil's peak lookout tower 5,045ft it's a great drive in the snow! Heavy snow accumulation expected!!!WAHOO! The route will start on Still creek rd(rhoddadendron) and follow it until trillium basin and then head up sherar burn rd for 12miles to the end....then an easy 1mile hike to the tower. call me if interested 503-314-7535 Gregg here is the current rd. closure link.http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/mthood/conditions/index.shtml

I'm in it for the snow-wheelin...save the trees! Besides ya gotta have something to keep ya from sliding off into oblivion! lol... -
Brucey, What did ya do to ur subie? $40 tools is all you need and hoist/friend to help . If I could drive there I would do it and then we could go wheelin'...but that's more brew$$$$ than you could afford. Try Nasioc.com (lot's of kewl folks there , put out an SOS 'save our subie' for help.)and stuff a WRX engine in there...watch the mud fly off those SSR's with boost!!! Pm me for any questions if ya need advice...I do this for a living... Good luck

Yeah baby! It was fun last year riding with Erik(silver 02 wrx wagon) . Although this year I will be there with my outback ....Let it snow! I was thinking maybe a xmas tree run at Mt.Hood would be kewl too... -
Haven't ya been to "Hazzard county" yet...? nuff said..LOL!

I have run into some realy kewl Ford folks wheelin' ouside Estacada . This guy just got new MT's on a new '06 ranger 4x4. We hooked up and he was amazed I went everywhere he went except the deepest holes. They had a alot of respect for subaru's after that! I just moved to Newberg so that we be kewl to hookup and go wheelin' local, Mac isn't far at all. I hit TSF many times cleaning the "more difficult trails" I loved the look on quad riders faces when I was on the "hogsback" quad rider Quote: " It's a 76" maxiumum width!" My reply :"How do ya think I got here ..airlifted" my cell 503-314-7535

Like Andyjo..Lightforce striker rmdl 170's ...100watts of focusable power....of course I have some PIAA 520 fogs as well .... Speaking of beamers....this young punk kid with a 525 flashed his hi beams at me from behind after I passed him ...so I obliged slowed down let him pass and "beamed" him with this....Let's just say he had the daylight beaten out of him...bet he'll never flash an outback again....ROLMFA... also when ur brushing in thick stuff like this...or snow covers your headlamps.

here's pics of my antenna. a Cobra mag. with cell style ant. I can still open my hatch...too.. It's nice as it's only like 21" and brushing is not a factor..it stayed in place during a night run which I could hardly see thru w/ 100w overheads..that's thick stuff... As far as getting power I used the batt. hot circut of the 'trailer 'fuse on my outback by cutting a fork type connector on one end and sliding it in the socket.

Big Thank you for Zap and Ken,and crew
scoobyclimbs replied to sparkster58's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Thx to all who gave their 110% to the show. I enjoyed it more than last years ... I put alot of effort in doing a trailrun and it turned out ok..& rather impromtu...months of hitting the trails and local areas went almost unnoticed...I spent hours printing up guidelines and getting maps together... I have yet to receive one thankyou....or that was kewl...I did my best to give folks who drove from afar to have a good time... I believe they did... So I understand the reason why some folks are trying to pass the torch...I tried to step up into some big shoes...! It takes alot of work and effort to put together a show! Teamwork & Sacrifice makes it work... Everyone needs to do just a little volunteering to make it happen. ' Cheers:D -
Talk about last minute mods....Since, I've been venturing into logger territory....probably a good thing....hmmm. kenworth vs subaru ...ya know the outcome of that one.... I went cheap as fundage was low ...just bought a house...I purchased a Uniden 520XL cb 7watts. It's small and compact...I tested it out and works great...This trucker with a Connex was crankin' !!! My investment was $114 total for the cb/ant./swr meter. It should be adequate for what I do. I got a SWR meter and tuned the antenna(cobra 21" [cell phone style] mag. base. I ran my coax thru the top corner of the hatch crack and thru a small opening above the left rear tail light assembly grommet. turned out very stealthy. I thought about a 10M VHF radio, but then I need a license and more dough....someday.. here's a pic of my install.

Conditions would be "dusty" mostly gravel, dirt, ruts, small rocks "fist size" to "shotput" sized. If your really gentle and not a thrasher....should be a peice of cake..
