Sorry guys , It was like 1:00pm when I left... kinda late in the day although I was out till 9:30pm... I hate to call last minute....I'm just abit spontaneous ....I just go ...I hate being nailed down....Sometimes ya just gotta go on a whim and wing it ya know.... Anyway next time for sure guys! This Sunday? are ya game...? Early this time....Meet at Fred Meyer(cornelious pass exit)off hwy 26West....say 9am ...Don't forget your OHV permit $10.50 for a year ...I got mine at GI Joes ticket master.I know there is more places...to explore ! Browns camp was pretty lame... I just went a few months back it's all blocked off....Great if ya have a motorcycle/mtn bike/quad/horses. Bring ur FRS radios channel 2 . Here's a link to the list of trail closures....http://egov.oregon.gov/ODF/TSF/road_and_trail_rpt.shtml

An alignment is only needed if ya hit a pothole or rut/curb really hard and drives strange afterward....don't waste your money ...Your tires will tell you whats going on rather quickly...like cupping/feathering ...the tire shop will know whats going on ....like I said before my buddy has the same deal ... I also recommend you check tire pressures once a week !!! At elevation temps rise and drop alot. Tire shops are notorious about overinflation of tires! Go by the manufacturers recommendations at the drivers door jam.

PDX to WCSS8 via Lolo Pass
scoobyclimbs replied to GLCraig's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
when you cross the two wood bridges it's due West between the bridges...old clear cut rd. and stay on the left spur. -
I plan on going up Friday perhaps that night for some lighted excursions ! I might take the day off...I just bought a house so I'm moving..ack! Call me when ya roll in my cell is 503-314-7535 Gregg It will be hot, dry, dusty ...However , Green point resivour is close by if ya wanna cool off...plus theres some kewl wheelin' up there....! If ya get a chance (from Parkdale) get on hwy 35 and head North towards Odell head up the hill and turn left (West) on Gilhouley rd takes you over Middle mtn tons of wheelin there. Get a Hoodriver county map from the store in Mt.Hood( small town) just head North on hwy 35. You might check to see if one of the small stores in Parkdale has them ....they are free! and very detailed(street names/fs rds/landmarks) but no topo.. Since your coming from hwy 97/26/35 A must is to check out Gunsight ridge! take the Bennet pass exit and enter the parking lot and stay left on the Primitive rd. the views will are well worth it and abit of rocky sections. I suggest you get a Mt.Hood nat. Forest service map! Badger lake is another spot to check out. ( you need a NW forest pass day pass $5 most stores or gas stations have them) here's a sneak peak I was just there last weekend...the last two shots are from last year...

I was just driving through the pass and took a few pics...enjoy! If you get to the top of the pass take fs rd 100(Straight) off fs rd 18. here's the views you get plus I found a creek crossing hidden off the powerline rd.. -
nice work and info! I can't wait for pics! I have lifted my '03 outback with Kingsprings using stock struts (fronts with '03 forester tophats(due to Kingsrpings wider spring design on top)/rear struts stock w/stock top hats. I squeezed a 215/75R15's Yokohama geolander AT+II's (27.6 dia.)mounted on a 15" Konigs w/ 40mm offset. It's a tight fit just clearing with no rubbing! If you could do a body lift you might get away with more clearance using a coilover DMS strut but that will cost around 4k!!! My question is what are the dimesions of the gen 3 outback struts('05-06) They lifted the car abit to make it a truck classification for cafe ratings. If it was feasable to mount the new struts with higher lift from a new gen 3 on a gen2 outback I'd do it in a heartbeat!

Schweet! I have those on my overhead rack and they really light up ...I need to get an Optima yellow top (D35)soon....! I have crashed through alot of trees and they are pretty tough...they tend to flex back when they hit branches and the covers haven't come off yet!!! I love them!

I was gonna do that route anyway....I know about every spur rd there very well...spent the last year cruising it. Plus some great wheelin too...the best part is to go straight instead of the second right at the pass....fun shortcut with a creek crossing( some quad guys gave me some funny looks as I blasted thru the creek in an outback!)The powerline rd is awesome and way more fun ...less traffic! I'm thinkin maybe Friday night with my overheads would be kewl...since I don't get off work until 8pm ....otherwise early Sat. morn. I think either way I'll have to wash the car for the show or just let the mud/dust fly! a couple of pics of the views going over the pass... Ps ..I didn't intend to hijack ur thread...just adding more to it. -
just use one ...try an optima yellow top deep cycle battery ...I mean your not cranking over a diesel .... with two batteries that's a serious weight penalty...too! If ya want some real batteries try three group 31 batteries!!! It'll crank over any frieghtliner around!LOL!

No joke we went up last weekend to Parkdale and found a quadtrack turned to singletrack hillclimb...no pics....the only thing stopping us was trees!

Where abouts around St.Helens are you refering to? I'm pretty familar with some areas...let me know when ya go....I haven't been up there since it started erupting again...I witnessed May 18 ...so I'm abit cautious....I climbed it in 2000... Being a national monument ya have to be careful and watch for the Park nazi's....We were climbing and got checked twice for permits by the same rangers within 5hours...!!! I'm sure there is some good stuff near Cougar.

nice video Brucey...but loose the tunes and drive faster...guess I'm just a purist... Tires are great....wish I had them at times...But for most of what I do for now AT's work fine. I like the backdroop much like a rainforest ...reminds me of Olympic nat. park..

badger lake/parkdale wheelin'
scoobyclimbs replied to scoobyclimbs's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
What awesome full day of wheelin'!!! I met up with Chazmataz in Sandy and we hit the still creek rd and found a powerline road that was good...until I approached this one climb full of rocks ....PSSSST...oh great my left rear tire got pinch between a rock and the rim.... good thing for full size spares...! Now we headed back on to hwy 26/35 to Bennet pass and met up with Scrap. We saw this dodge pu with a canoe cruise by headin down to badgerlake. As we were headin in ...they came back sayin to much snow...so we checked it out. tons of huge snow drifts across the road . We tried Gunsight ridge and got through some small drifts of snow. Off to Parkdale and Surveyors ridge ...it was dry and dusty as hell....!!! But the cooler temps and high elevation in the trees made it a nice cruise. It was 69 degrees in one spot! mostly mid 70's until we dropped back into the valley and they climbed into the upper 80's . We headed of to Green point resivour to cool off. Finally heading out finding every nook /cranny we could find to wheel on while making our way down to Hoodriver. Almost 12hours of wheelin'....and we beat the heat in PDX! I will post pics soon !! -
Ok so maybe we got off on the wrong foot....All is good... By the way I'm lifted 2inches not a stock height outback. I'm going to Hood tommorrow so If ya wanna join... call me early. As far as nice rigs ...I've seen guys with their brand new rigs out there wheelin that don't even have plates yet!!! mines 3 years old...almost paid off.. That tool I have is called a Maddox by the way...
-
Really interesting .....Let see I waited around and helped unstuck you for almost 2hours ....Just because I have a more expensive rig doesn't mean I have to drive like idiot and mash a fender in the trees/break two headlights. Oh yeah we had to wait for you to install your rear axles so you had 4wheel drive...the whole reason you got stuck in the first place...."nothing supercrazy" ...taking body damge is just dumb..if it can be avoided. Maybe when you grow up a few years and have some responsiblity you'll be more careful wheelin' not everybody has a thrasher rig ...Besides I've already brushed the hell out of my rig and bashed my right front lower radiator mount...so ya think I wasn't prepared to take damage...?
-
Even with a low range some of the rocks are just huge so sidewall protection is a factor. Note the pics ...fist size or better rocks ! Better have a fullsize spare....I suppose you could run stock tires at your own risk...I'm being honest about the conditions and would'nt want anyone stranded out there....I'm headin out there Sun. June 25
