  1. I'm thinkin' of gettin a winch for my subie since, I do alot of solo trips...like a mile marker Pe-6000 or WARN M-6000. Who's got winches on their subie?
  2. as far as turbo powerband, seems like the only time you would need a lot of power you are on the gas, and on it hard. most turbos capable of 450hp are going to be spooling by 35-4000 rpm anyway which is not out of the question. lag, that is what automatics are for. I had to get an auto (4eat so my wife could drive my subie) plus none were avail. in a outback when I got it. However, I found the gears were lower in my 4eat than a 5MT and I climb alot of hills ... Just luck! Everyone disses my 4eat but hey , I have yet to see another 2gen .outback doing what I do with a 5MT either!...even an NA EJ25 with a borla has planty of torque to crank up them steeps ...but it's no rock crawler!
  3. Within the second month of owning my new '03 outback wagon I shattered the front lower plastic"engine" protective cover and sides breakin' trail in foot and half of snow...many little pieces as crunched it over frozen glazed snow crossing over a bridge... I threw the rest in the cargo box! Then bought a Primitive skiplate! I left a bit o' paint on a tree stump somewhere at Mt.Hood and bashed my lower rad. mount good too! ( no skid on doh!). I almost lost a drivers mirror smacking a tree when I goosed it on a hunters track in mud at lolo pass ..thank God for folding mirrors! I just lost my lic. plate frame and plastic cover after backing up over brush...on the front bumper , The plates still there so that's all that matters
  4. Yeppers! ZAP....I'm headin' up tommorrow midday anyone interested in some fresh snow let me know ...PM me asap.
  5. Ok, first of all 2.5L vs 2.2L is all about displacement and torque A 2.5l will have more torque to move a heavy wagon (outback)than a 2.2l both are great engines. I would go with a 2.5L outback or legacywagon for family car . You might find one that had the headgaskets done anyway. Besides its the '98-99 that were troublesome with headgaskets. by '03 no problems. Subaru recommends you add the coolant conditioner costs about $1.93 that's a cheap fix! When my wife got preggo I had to sell my beloved s-10 pu ...so I got an outback and never looked back!
  6. I can give you some advice from our rally driver Paul Eklund "Primitive racing "no replacement for displacement" I agree with that! 2.5l all the way. " Torque wins races , hp sells cars.".Carroll Shelby As far as struts you might contact Subiegal at www.subiegal.com she races a wrx wagon so she knows how to set up a wagon for rally. AGX's are great !Unless you can buck up for DMS.$$$$
  7. DId you dyno it yet?My outback stock had 165hp .With the mods I have now I'm well past that...I dynoed mine at 108whp 118torque at the wheels! so you lose alot due to AWD! my mods to 2.5l are: WR cai, borla header 2.25" catback, Perfect power SMT6 piggy back ecu.,Perrin pulley
  8. I can't go ....I'm crewing for Primitive racing at Oregon trail rally! Besdies My skidplate isn't done yet ....I already tagged a stump and bashed my lower rad support pretty good...this weekend...got lucky..it wasn't the oil pan!
  9. I know where Snowden rd is ....I like to cruise up to Adams/trout lake alot. Wind river has got some good spots too...
  10. I ventured out to Hoodriver backroads and up to Kingsley resivour then over Cooper Spur the snow level is still pretty low about 3,200ft. So I contiued over to the other side of Hood past Estacada and headed up to some wheelin fun off FSrd 4610. I met up with this guy and his ranger 4x4 and we cruised some fun stuff(the guy was amazed at how capable of a wheeler a Subaru really is). Here's a few pics + my new updated Mudrat bumper which had a good dose!
  11. kinda of spokey~! lol! Paul is good to us but he did run over his co driver once last year! lol!!
  12. not really sure...we had an '01 in our shop and they seemed the same to me as the '03 have you sat in other cars ? perhaps your seat is just broken down in places ...are you the original owner? I will admit the lumbar isn't that great anyway...not enough!
  13. By the way I might be unloading my '03 heated outback seats(grey cloth)(drivers side elec. adjustable 5way/pass. slider) . I plan on gettin' some WRX seats so I don't slide around so much when wheelin' or getting slideways.......yea the heated seats r great when your back is killing you from a hard day...especially in winter! Cheers, Brucey...Yep I tracked ya down from the Org....lol
  14. I'm down for that! today is good day for that ...raining alot good for mudslinging for sure! I'm heading up to Hood today.
  15. I'll be crewing for Primitive Racing. I think a meet at the banquet would be kewl.

  17. AWESOME! Best subaru article I've ever read......!
  18. Here's my overhead lights. Two Lightforce Striker RMDL 170's (focusable beams) 100w. Then for backup I have two Hella ff75's . Here's couple of pics.
  19. here's my '03 outback lifted note the tires are 215/75R15's !
  20. Awesome! I have three pulls to my '03 outback 1. Ford Explorer stuck in foot deep snow! 2. Mercury Mountaineer buried to the axles in sand! 3. Chev S-10 4x4 pu stuck in a snow drift... People are amazed how well subies do! No pics yet ...I try not humiliate the owners too much....!
  21. I have an '03 outback . The stock speakers are 8 ohms . I don't know the wattage rating. I replaced mine with some MB Quarts and kept the stock headunit, sounds much better and keeps the theives at bay.
  22. nice! Come up to Hoodriver for the WCSS8! It would be kewl to have a baja there ...none showed up last year....I would love to have a baja!!!
  23. Nice! I guess we've never really talked much ....I sat across from you at Doo-Wops .(I crew for Primitive...!) Awards ceremony... I amire you talents! Myself being a wagon owner it's just so kewl seeing a wagon kick butt!!!
