  1. It was very kewl! Had a blast cruising around with Erik in his WRX wagon.....let it spool and get sideways.....the snow flies(blizzaks+soobie= fun)!!! We got up to 50mph a couple of times...! I do have a ton of shots to post soon including a group shot cruising up hwy 410 and at the gravel pit. I will be up there next year with my outback! It's almost done ...getting painted! I should be on the road by Tuesday!
  2. cost depends on steel prices...but a bumper is usually around $895 raw unpainted. As far as weight I'm not sure...It's around the same weight as my factory bumper assembly('03 outback). 60-80lbs roughly . When I get my old one back I'll weigh it.
  3. crashin trend......? Go figure!!! Well it's a subie , tough as a tank!
  4. Samo Are you up for the x-mas tree run at Enumclaw? I'll be there!!!
  5. Always ! been in too many wrecks over the years ....reguardless if I was the driver or passenger..SH*t happens!!! Glad I had one on in two roll overs and one headon into a tree!!! I had a buddy who didn't have one on in a rollover and he hit three windows like a pinball with his head! He was ok except for a few cuts/bruises!!Lucky!
  6. I know Mt.hood Like the back of my hand, summited twice , many attempts different routes(weather/chopper crash...!!!) . Almost killed by an avalanche!!! triggered a small avalanche skiing..YIKES!! Been snow camping on Hood since '77 I've dug alot of snow caves! Bivyed once during a storm (made a snowcave in foot and half of snow!) circumnavigated the mtn via the Timberline trail #600 with a 50lb pack (41.8miles in two days!) I climb, ski(tele/x-country), snowshoed, mtn biked , backpacked, canoed , fished, horsetreked all over that mtn! I know a few gems in 30plus yrs of going up there! I also do volunteer trail maintainence on the #794 cool creek trail and Hunchback mtn #793 + Devils peak lookout tower! I'm no expert just lots of experiences there!
  7. Sounds kewl! I'm up for that! I can finally join the Hatch patrol!
  8. Mountains...lol! those are just small buttes!(under 5,000ft)here's the mtn(Hood 11,240ft) pic taken 2 weeks ago! Yup... just me... Getting stuck..nah...It's a subie ! I've dug myself out so many times I can't count how many! Besides how many subie owners are crazy enough to follow me....? LOL! I know the limits of my subie... I have the gear to get myself out of a jam( bow saw/maddox/chains/beer for when life really sux...!) + being a mechanic helps too. When I go up to mtns. I have extra clothes, water, stove, food for a few days if needed.
  9. We haven't had a snow year this early since '92...!!!
  10. It snowed 2-3" before I got back then it rained! I loved the look on the guy with the 4-runners drivers face that night when I was comin' down he was headin up!!!
  11. I went for fun cruise up Still creek rd(fs rd 2610) to Sherar burn(fs rd 2613) and broke trail for 10miles in a foot plus of powder in places! It was awesome! Then I hiked up to Devil's peak lookout tower(5,045ft) for a hot lunch and brew! I did have to cut out some blowdown to continue ....no problem! I never had to chain up! My Yokohama Geolander At+II's were awesome!
  12. Ride on! I was wheelin' at Hood Sat. in a foot plus in places!
  13. nice shots! I wish I was there in my outback I would kept going...plus I'm lifted so that helps...I especially like the shot of the outback and the other 4x4's there ! Yea, I must admit my auto is great for crawling up stuff vs a manual without lo range...
  14. WEll it was human error....an employee left with an ember still burning and poof! no arson there......!
  15. Got one (Primitive) just need to cut and weld for the header clearance!
  16. You can get some early season fun in the snow but soon after they close the gates!!! ARRGH!!! Although in May they opened and I found some snow and got stuck bigtime ....dug out after three hours of digging a trench .......wet snow ontop of frozen pack ice! I damn near slid completely off the road down a ravine!!Like a ********************* ....I left the chains at home!! The low fuel light came on .......it was raining .....Let's just say I had too much fun there , but it was worth it !!! I'm gettin' a winch!! I was just out testing my new AT tires!.....they worked great until I hit the pack ice! Yeah , I went as far as I could without skidplates! I have to modify for the header! It's really ugly lots of boulders! here's a pic of a hillclimb!
  17. It was awesome! I cruised up through some low fog near the powerlines and then over the pass to sun!!! I headed off to fs rd 1811(cathedral ridge trailhead for some more gravel twisties! I was treated to a kewl view of the top of Hood ! I then made some donuts(with my subie)then proceeded over to Parkdale and up Cooper spur rd to Cloud cap for a picnic lunch and great views! The fall folliage was really kewl! I made my way back to hwy 35 and over to hwy 26 back home . On the way through Gresham near Fairview I spotted an '06 STI (blue ) I like the new front end of those cars! 200miles later I made it home , It was a good test day for my new Borlas! WOT! I will post pics soon!
