  2. no problem... I have a great spot for you ..we were there yesterday.. How this for view...
  3. Ya guys save a spot for me..I'll give ya a trail run you'll enjoy...and not tear up your rigs...! I will be out there fri evening..8pm.....look for my hatch...
  4. No problem..You should do the Mt.Defiance run too..You won't regret... Best advice : slow..and stay away from the skinny pedal ... Always bring a spare front axle..this way you get home.. Ya never know even on the highway.. saved my a butt couple times.. WCSS12 was great... Cheers, Gregg
  5. For those of us heading back South into Oregon this is a must trailrun ! Abit rocky, dusty , tight trail, moderate to easy. A hardcore run called "mini rubicon" no soob has done yet...Freshly built trail..triple black diamond..! very flexy, tight.. 6" plus lifted rigs... a bypass for the rest of us... Note: you need a OHV permit to do this trail. Just North of the Hoodriver <Or foothills off hwy 35. The views are awesome of the Gorge, Hood, Rainier, Adams, St. Helens. A few miles of trail to be had...don't miss out..Stock rigs ok...! There is even swimming, fishing nearby!!! Depart Sun. 28th TBA , Ch. 22 or frs radio 6/32 Here's a taste...
  6. A couple years ago TeamCF , Cmiller and I scoped out the area abit and found some cool trails to run @ Wcss11. We found rocks, dirt, sand, mud...!! We will keep the group small...or in two groups.. CB ch. 22 or frs radio ch 6/32. We had a blast last time... even stock rigs can have fun...! Great views of the gorge to be had...! I consider the area moderate to easy... We will meet sat. After the show and back for the awards cermony. Perhaps an early morning Sat. or Sun run if enough interest.. more details to come... Let's get a headcount who's in... Scoobyclimbs..#1
  7. I know where to find mud nearby...wcss11 we got some on our trail run...shhh...I didn't say that...
  8. Given the ea81 body has a much smaller engine bay than an impreza or ea82 body. Heat tends to build up with no where to go. Keep in mind I have a stock ea81 radiator...! Cooling is fine when cruising ...However, on those hi altitude long steep climbs...even the ej is working hard up the steeps to turn those big tires... The backing plate will help support the hood where I cut out the old supports too. They are essential for mounting and they are contoured to fit the fold in the hood.
  9. My gl went under the knife(die grinder/air saw)... I decided to give the hood some vents from a '98 rs hood vents with block off plates. With all that ej heat pent up under.. let her breathe abit... I also plan to get another set of block of plates for summer use with functional cutouts.
  10. I'm a climber too..hence the name.. Well let's call it an "onsite "..climb then... Actually, I get off more with pullin' it off with minimal gear and maximum challenge. Kinda like the difference between free climbing doing that uber dyno move vs using pro...and hang doggin'.. so to speak.. Perhaps in the fall...when the busy season is over.. Technically "cleaning "the route would be pulling your gear as you climb up yourself using a nut tool... So am I that " nut of a tool.." I tried that quarry climb again...(in the vid) a week later and DNF'd . It was way to chewed up by motorclyles it was way ugly...
  11. I welded on some new D-rings on the rear bumper, dot tape for visability at night. I found some power windows and mirrors from an '82 gl coupe also the upper door cards. I used a mirror switch from a legacy and mounted in the drivers speaker grille. For the passenger window I used the coupes switch and mounted on the ea82 shift console coin holder. Finally got around to fabbing/welding in some bumpstop pads/towers on the rear suspension . a dirty shot..
  12. I haven't been back to that one since... Once ya clean it ..move on to the harder stuff... Been busy gettin' the hatch ready for WCSS13...powered windows/mirrors/ RS hood vents..etc.
  13. I did the ej22 swap in my 4" lifted '84 hatch w/5spd d/r 3.9 lsd. 235/75r15's m/t . Fully loaded for a few days excursions 2750.. I get about 25-28mpg going up several passes backroads.. I have a ton of frontal area including the overhead rack and a large cargo box ontop.. The jeep guys hate me.. One off these days I'll loose 50lbs and lighten up the load .. also when you need to fix something in bfe...it's nice to be prepared...
  14. 215/75r15 bfg a/t's.. perhaps I could squeeze and 235 in there..

  15. Trail skirting Mt. Defiance quarry...it only shows half the hillclimb... http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v318/mbplath/?action=view&current=100_1121.mp4
  16. Stock rig no problem.. There is plenty of stuff even the lifted rigs will be challenged.. At WCSS11 we even found some mud on the trail..
  17. My ej'd hatch of course..Lot's of cool trails to run near the fairgrounds..
  18. I love them in snow, sand, dirt, light mud, in gravel they handle like rally tire...! All these folks complaining about mud...that's why they have m/t tires just for that..! BFG's aren't cheap...alittle on the spendy side... I ran yokohama at+2 for years and the bfg beats them hands down..!
  19. my '03 outback with a Subtle solutions, kingsprings my '84 hatch w/sjr 4"
  20. Mine's an '03 so bigger front brakes/ calipers( I ground the calipers down to fit 15" rims.) '01 was the model year change to bigger brakes/calipers. H6 that thing and make a real beast! Gut the interior to save some weight, add some tube bumpers
  21. Our team (primitive car 233 )was first on scene and stopped the stage and put up triangles. I was crewing and we heard the news over the ham . We saw the lifeflight come and go...and shortly after a group meeting at the service area in South bend. Then the sad news of the driver passing.. It was a very somber moment...Our prayers and thought go out the family and friends.. The rest of the day was cancelled and the next day maxx attack / national rally was cancelled thru Sun.
