hi, i live in dundee michigan and i want to race my '88 hatch. i took the car out around my farm and my dad got really mad at me and i was wondering if there was a place close by where a few people could gather and race. i think it would be a lot of fun. any info would be great. i just wish i could do it at my house.

i've heard that EA-82's can have problems but the people raging on them never tell me what thoes problems are and i was wondering if any one here could fill me in on these "problems"? i dont think there are any but i just want to be shure that mine wont die on me any time soon. i love my '88 hatch.

it works, my 88 gl hatch started up for the first time since ive had it. it is so cool but it still needs some help such as the inside and the fuel lines. it also makes this strange ticking noise when it is running and the ticking gets faster when i rev it up. i dont know what it is. my friend thinks its a exaust leak and my dad thinks it is a sticky lifter. does anyone have any sugestions? i still have not taken it out on the road because the windows dont work. thats another problem. so if anyone could point me in the right direction about the ticking or the windows, that would be great!!!!!!! thanks

i havent thought about using another subaru engine. thanks for all your help and advice. its really cool.

sorry about that ea thing, it sounds like more trouble than its worth. oh well. might still try it when i have more thim and money.
-
i'll have pics later today but right now, my pc is being stupid. it says GL on the back
-
its got a shift on the fly 4 wheel drive menning it has fwd, 4w-hi, and 4w-lo
-
i got 209 form polishing and messing with the timing belts. the engine is stock with 170. i am also runnong carbs twice the stock size. that helps a lot.
-
thats interesting about the plates. and you think a XT6 could handle the power? i dont know about the guy who put the ea in the speedster. are you shure it was a porche? that seems redundent but who am i to say. i want to put a 209 hp engine in a subaru. thats redundent.
-
actualy the porche is a rear engine and i see what your saying about the other rear axel but your most likely right, the porche trans-axle wont fit. darn german tecnology.
-
the orginal subaru is a 5-speed manual with a over head valve, i beleve, and it has two front lights and two side/corner lights. I'll have pics soon
-
thanks for the info on the difference between the two ea's. and your right, the trans axle wouldn't take it. do you think if i put the actual transmission from the porche, and put it in the subaru, do u think that would work? I know that I would need to modify the subaru's cluch and stuff but after all that, it could work, dont you think? to me, it sounds good but easer said than done. sorry if I am not being all that clear.
-
what is the difference between the two. I dont know what the different ea's are. Imost likely shouldn't even be playing with thease things but it is so much fun!
-
the porche engine is a 1600cc that makes just around 209 hp. Both engins are 4-cyl boxer engines. And the mesurements that i've taken tell me that I would need to cut a 1" by 1" hole th the hood for one of the carbs. Other than that, I dont know. It would be a really cool car if it could work though.
-
Does anyone know if the engine mounts of a 1956 porche speedster are the same as the mounts of a '88 subaru GL hatchback? They look the same and it looks like it could work.all the numbers add up but I am still not sure. I also want to know if anyone has ever done it befor?

danman9y posted a topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Where can I find very VERY cheap parts for a 1988 Subaru GL? Any help would be greatly honored. I have been looking on-line for a few weeks untill I found this cool place. Thank you very much for any help anyone can give.
