  1. Keep it Fuel injected. Why go from a good semi modern system to an antiquated system of a carb.
  2. You will not get any spark if the Disty does not turn.
  3. Now that you opened the system there is a good chance that contaminants got in so you should have the system flushed then evacuated by a AC vacuum pump then refilled with r134a and an oil charge. Probably better off just going to a garage to have it all done.
  4. Also check idler gear pulley. The sube I just picked up had 1 week old belts but they never replaced the bottom idler gear, The bearing exploded shredding a new belt but also there was a straight line where it separated looking like it was cut.
  5. Is the tstat installed correctly ? Did you burp the system to get all the air out?
  6. No adjustments on the lifters they are hydraulic. You havewhat members the this board call the TOD. (tick of death) Don't take that wrong because it sounds worse then it is. Air is getting into the HLAs (hydraulic lifters) making them tick from lack of oil pressure. Do a search on Tick of death on this board and you will find lots of threads on the fix. A quick run down for the fix is reseal the oil pump and replace the O rings between the cam tower and head.
  7. Sounds like a fuel problem. 3 to 5 pounds is for a carb not FI.
  8. Are the jets correct. Float level being off will cause that to.
  9. Glad to hear these are good wrenches, I just ordered one for an upcoming HG job. I do have the beam type but for HGs I would rather use the clicky type.
  10. Yes that filter setup will work. As for the PCV routing and vacuum hoses i used Loyale 2.7's first setup in his writeup. You need one vacuum to brake booster but thats in the intake and will not be changed by swapping carbs. 1 off the front of the carb to the Distributer and one to your heater controls off the intake on the passenger side of the car.
  11. Does the secondary fan come on when it starts getting hot?
  12. 3k and even $2500 IMO is way to high for a 26 year old wagon. These are not rare classic cars and probably never will be. I would never pay that much for a plain Jane 86 wagon but if you really want it Offer 2k.
  13. What do they want for it? Offer $400 below what they want then haggle with them. In my opinion the 86 models are one of the best years for subes.
  14. Yes the 1.75 will work on the carb/adapter you are getting.
  15. Your list is good. As for the air filter K&N makes one that size, I don't have a link but a google search will bring it up. The choke wire hooks on a round plastic thing on the carb. Usually one wire blue in color held on by a tiny nut. This is one of the easy swaps to do on a sube.
  16. Why sell it because of a bad HG? Is the body shot to? HGs are not that hard of a job.
  17. Anybody ever use this kit? Are they any good. http://www.ebay.com/itm/85-94-SUBARU-LOYALE-XT-RX-GL-1-8L-HEAD-GASKET-SET-EA82-/140480218007?_trksid=m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D3%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D6657669949942308676
  18. I have a used EA81 adapter in good shape. Send me a private message and we will talk about it.
  19. Might as well get cap, rotor, wires and NGK spark plugs.
  20. My bad. I thought you meant for the air condition idle up.:-p
  21. You also need the one for the heater control to goto the intake manifold. It will be one of the vacuum lines on the passenger side firewall that goes into some doohickey then into the firewall above the spare wheel well.
  22. If you have a Hitachi carb on the engine then yes. I'm not sure about other carbs that came on EA71s. http://www.redlineweber.com/carb-kits/auto/subaru/
