  1. Anyone know what the difference is from 2002 forester and a 2003 forester. I broke a rear strut on my 2003, one strut is $70 bucks. I can get two rear from a 2002 for the same price. They have different part numbers, So what changed?
  2. Cool! But you better weld some frame rails under it from front to back or after a while the body and sub frame will start to wrinkle. I have seen frames on plow trucks bend.
  3. No difference in the crank between those two. Remove flex plate and bolt flywheel in its place. Don't forget to put a pilot bearing in the crank though.
  4. What color is the smoke. Does it use any oil or coolant? Could just be valve guides. Also about 100 miles before your next oil put some seafoam or Marvels mystery oil in the oil to clean things up and it helps sticking rings.
  5. Read up on Head gasket problems. Take it for a good long hard drive to see how the Temp is. Check the oil and differential fluid. Being Texas I wouldn't worry to much about rust but look under it real well to be sure.
  6. No lead shortage in the world but the last refining plant in the USA closed so now we must depend on third world country's to supply it. We all know how well those products are produced and inspected. As for the Ammo and political situation on guns and ammo I will not get in to it in a public thread Bushwick but if you would like a good conversation in private messages I would gladly debate your statements.
  7. My 03 Forrester auto holds a pretty close to "set" speed. As Gary said WV is very hilly yet mine wont go more then 5 mph over the set speed. There is something wrong if he hits 30 mph more then set speed down a hill. Unless the hill is a real steep grade it shouldn't do that.
  8. Ok next question. What brand thermostat is it. If it is not an OEM it may be sticking.
  9. How do you know the Thermostat is working well, Did you test it? Look for bubbles in your radiator over flow tank while its running.
  10. Use the hash mark not the arrows. In that pic of the crank sprocket you can see the Hash mark on the cam sprocket at 1 oclock and on the block case where the crank sensor is there is another hash mark. Line those up, Key way should be close to 6 oclock then. Also the belt may look good but while you have it apart put a new Gates brand belt on it. No need to reassemble everything for a test start, leave the covers, Radiator and the drive belts off. If it starts and runs fine reassemble the rest but do not let it run for more the 30 seconds or so or it can over heat.
  11. Your crank mark is not on. There is a mark on the crank sensor that it should line up with, You have it at one oclock it should be closer to 12 oclock. Also I can t really tell by the pic but your passenger side cam may be off.
  12. Sounds like the solenoid is on its way out. Does Capital Auto still have a U pull?
  13. A better description of where it broke off at and where is inside? Did it go down into the cylinder or just the tube? What year and engine?
  14. Usually when a master fails it is the inside seals on the piston and it wont leak into the booster. There was a thread on here years ago where a guy with an EA82 car kept getting smoke out his exhaust and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Turned out to be brake fluid leaking into the booster then sucked into the engine.
  15. You broke the cat itself, Doubt you can weld that. May have to replace the whole pipe. $333 plus shipping on Rockauto.
  16. Did the flange on the pipe break? Is there bolts with springs on them that hold that section together? Might have just messed up the o-ring in it.
  17. I had a 1986 Ea82 D/R wagon with a skid plate. I bought it in AZ so it had Rain tires on it. The winter of 2004/05 in NE PA was bad with us getting 2 feet of snow at a time. That wagon in 4 lo went thru 2 feet of unplowed snow better the most 4x4 jeeps even with just rain tires on it..
