Better off getting a weber. Much better carb. if you still want a hitachi go to a pull a part and take intake and all. Good luck finding a good one they are getting hard to find and when you do find them they usually are bad and need a rebuild.

I live and grew up in this humid wet swamp where we have stealth mosquitos and nats that pester the buggers out of you . Its called the pocono mountains to many people to you cant even move its like a city stuffed in a jar. not to mention i can hear my nice az sube rusting all ready ! So now i need some advice out of nessity because im broke i had to put a carter weber carb in place of my hitichi changed intake and all it runs but you have to feather the gas to make it move right. I allso disconected all but the but the vacume to the disty and my heater control . Any advice on how to get it to run right? I took the carb of a rust bucket 84 gl wagon that ran great with 13200 miles on it. even had some fun in the junk yard i work in going trough the mud. the ea 81 it was on had lots of power and so does the ea82 its on now but i have to get the rpms up to get it to really go! -
Well im back in P.A. from living in nice warm dry Arizona. It really is not good to be here had to come back because my mom is sick but that is another story. My 86 carbed sube with about 1000 pounds in it with all my camping stuff and me the wife dog and cat came across the country really nice was doing 80 over some of the hills in westvirginia but now shes not liking the rain and humidity (like me) Good news is i found an engine hear with 15400 on it with fuel injection all for free from the place i work here now.

I have an 1986 gl with composet lights. The problem is that ever since i have had it there is a lot of moisture inside of them being in Arizona you would think they would just dry but the more the sun hits them the worst it is . Any tricks to get it out and keep it out?

On the left 200 feet up on the right 300 feet down!!! Felt like i was in Road runner cartoon with the red rocks and all. -
Did you use a chisel to spread the back of the knuckle and a pickle fork to pop it out of the lower control arm?

Just changed my ball joint only took 1/2 an hour useing hand tools on the ground in the dirt. Another reason i love subes ease of part change!

Was watching a show on discovery channel about booby traps. They showed the D.E.A. loading a pile of pot plants in the back of like an 84 Brat!

Same here. Had a 79 rust wagon in(DREADED) pennsylvania. Have a 86 gl wagon in Arizona only rust is on the door where it got dented.Subes are not plentyful here and they are a little pricey(Paid 1000 for mine with 156.ooo on it over a year ago) But still wort every penny i paid for it! Hey you guys from C.O. send some subes down this way!!! -
When i take the EA82 out i will be rebuilding it with hi po parts or at least the best i can get anyway. The EA 82 still runs strong but has a lot of problems, t belts main front oil seal rear oil seal dripping REALLY LOUD lifters most of the time! OIl pump seal,1 year with no oil change, bad carb, and was heated way to many times because of bad rad(yes will be putting new one in for EA81) The EA81 not only rebuilt but they went the extra mile when they did it.New vacume towers, new vacume lines, new pullys on for every v belt, rebuilt carb ,new clutch and preasure plate( yes i know the disk wont fit) even a referbed flywheel.so i checked to see what it would cost to redo EA82 stock and with all the problems it has the 300$ EA81 looked like agreat deal( out of 83 wagon that some lady just had rebuilt then 5000 miles later she got hit in the tail) even found the paper work for the 10.000 mile warenty on engine and how many miles ago it was redone. In my part of A.Z to find any running sube engine in j/y is a treasure most got craked heads and blocks due to the heat.the 90 wagon is in the J/Y for that reason alone. (SAD nice car) im going to run the EA82 untill winter then swap when its cool enough here to do it so i have lots of time to get EA81 ready! allso found the rebuild price list on the EA81 allmost 2000$ for every thing done so 300$ is a steal.
-
thanks guys! I know where there is a 90 wagon in a local pull your own j/y that will sell me everything for 100$. Is that a good deal? Allso will it give more H.P and tourqe? My 86 gl wagon is ready to die (ofcourse i said that 10.000 miles ago) I got a great deal on a rebuilt ea81 out of 83 wagon 300$ with 5000 miles on it but it has a carter weber (wich was allso rebuilt) but i know they are not to good of a carb so i would like to go F.I becase the carb on my ea82 is about shot to so if it can be done i can do most of the work on my bench untill i ad computer and if thats a good deal (100$) i will go for it. (I know i should have found another EA82 but this deal i got on EA81 could not be passed up!!!!!)

I searched but could not find any info on a intake swap for my 83 ea81. Is there any fuel injection that would fit that engine?

Had a VW gti riding my tail on pavement today. THen it turned to dirt!! Put in 4 hi stomped it down and goodbye vw! this guy tried his best to keep up to me on the dirt but next thing he knew was i was a 1/4 mile ahead of him! moral is if you cant beat them on pavement lure them onto dirt and then just look at the look of surprise on thier face when you can corner better and get better traction then them!!!!
