  1. yes, i would love to buy her back, but lack the funds. ATM, i would just like to know if the car is alright. and i found the title stub, so know maybe i could contact the guy somehow.
  2. right here on KPR craigslist. is this a good buy at 900 dollars? the engine is blown but the car looks great. http://kpr.craigslist.org/pts/2840529020.html
  3. Hey people. i know i posted this a while ago, but im still depseratly searching for my old Subaru. I lost the little stup off the title so i lost the guys information, otherwise i would have contacted him already. Help please, i would like to know that my Subaru is alright.
  4. and this dent on the rear is a dead giveaway. thank you ahead of time if you catch up to him. BTW, no longer has Bob Marley sticker on the back. took it off a month or 2 before i sold it.
  5. dont quite know where i should post this. I sold my 1988 Subaru GL-10 to a guy up in Moscow Idaho and i was wanting to find him and ask how she's doing. (the Subaru) Its my old Turbo Fulltime 4wd Subaru i used to talk about all the time. if this has to be relocated do so please. i love my old Subaru very much and wish i had never sold. would love to contact the guy to find out how she's doin.
  6. i was googling and found this very awesome dual range transfercase. its full time 4 hi with the locking center diff switch, but also has a low range. i want to get ahold of one of these.
  7. you'll probably get a better answer later, but just here to help: i've heard enough that the auto's in the old EA82T's are crap. more then likely the seals in the transmission are old and shrunk, so its not producing the proper pressure to give a normally quick shift. i have done sea foam in auto's before (believe it or not) with the same hesitation and it fixed it pretty damn well. did it in a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2 and a 1965 Oldsmobile 442 with a turbo 400 automatic transmission. works pretty well. also, i cant seem to find it anymore, but i had this very old can of stuff called Tune Up in a Can (was not sea foam, btw) and its performance a tune up for the transmission in my truck was unbelievable. i cant seem to find it anymore though. good luck to you.
  8. i have decided i can not get rid of my Subaru because i have become attached to it, and i want to make everything right on it. so today i was talking to some technician guy who owns and runs his own shop, and who also has some experience with the older Subaru's. i was talking to him today and explaining that even after rebuilding my engine, getting the oil pressure problem solved, and replacing my mickey mouse gasket on the oil pump, its still ticking. he told me the only way to fix the problem is to replace my oil pump and i cant seem to find one locally or online. what im wanting to check with you guys is if i really do need to replace it. im running Valvoline Premium Conventional 10W-40 in it, and at first start up when cold (i have an aftermarket pressure gauge, FYI) im getting 65 PSI, then fully warmed up at a 900 RPM idle, im getting about 12 PSI, then running aobut 2000 RPM (fully warmed up) im getting around 30-35 PSI, and around 3000 RPM (usually on the highway) im reading about 45-50 PSI. i lost my book, so im wondering if these numbers are within spec, or what you guys usually see. any and all help/feedback is appreciated. thank you.
  9. well, if doing it a little is normal, than thanks for the info. its been continuing to make noise here and there when turning and taking off from a dead stop. plus, the oil in it keeps getting dirty quick. i've replaced the oil twice in the last 5000 miles.
  10. go to ebay, put in your year/make/model and catalytic converter and you'll find what your looking for. i had to do this for my 87 GL carb, searched 1987 Subaru GL and found it right on the first page. i would just try to weld it like GD said though, cause those direct fit replacements are pretty pricey.
  11. nothing; nothing at all??? im pretty sure someone on here knows something about this. or has no one ever rebuilt a limited slip diff yet? if not, i'll tear into it at some point and do a write up.
  12. damn gary, right on the spot for me. im getting 22 in town and, well actually 31 on highway, but thats cause im going 60 and keeping it below 3K rpms. they dont do too bad, but i've also gotten my 1988 GL-10 turbo wagon (5 speed full time 4 wheel drive) down to 15 MPG by hot rodding it all day long.
  13. its a limited slip. i think the clutches in it might be wore out cause i replaced the oil in it and put in a whole bottle of the additive, and it still clunks a little when i take corners from a dead stop. how hard are they to take out; apart, and get parts for?
  14. why yes in fact. the injector is working now. um, i guess i'll have to redo a compression check now that i have seated the rings and such.
  15. well, it was something so simple that was wrong. i guess i need to go back to learning Subaru basics. of the 2 fat plugs on the intake wiring harness, the black one wasnt plugged in all the way and fell off and came unplugged. gah im a *********************.
  16. whats the easiest way to tell w/o getting blown up? also, its only messing up the number 3 cylinder; which i just dont get. it acts liket the injector is stuck open cause after running the car, i can pull the plug and its wet with fuel; but its sparking too. i pulled the number 3 plug and checked it for spark by turning over with the plug out and i get a very strong looking bright blue spark.
  17. well, that is one thing i left out. checked all fuses and fusible links. didnt find anything there. would like some help with figuring out how to hook up a pressure gauge so i can check system pressure. i'll check the fuel filter tomorrow, didnt get the chance cause it got dark and dont have good lighting; no room in the shop ect. oh, also did the all so simple listen test for the fuel pump: pump heard and sounds like its going strong. sounds can be just as bad as looks are far as this one word goes: deceiving.
  18. 1988 Subaru GL-10 turbo station wagon 5 speed manual full time 4 wheel drive Problem: dont really what the problem is. we got the engine rebuilt and did the cam timing according to the book where you line up the notches and such. then i did the ignition timing. run super great. then things started deteriorating. i noticed the engine gradually start to lose power, started running really rough, now wont stay running and has no power. checked ignition timing and cam timing about 10 times and found no problems. all notches and marks line up the way they are supposed too and ignition timing is set at (book spec) 20 degrees at 750 rpm. some things i did: replaced the plugs and wires, and checked all injectors for operation. i found something weird with the fuel injectors. i used a stethoscope and checked that all injectors were operating by listening for the clicking. on the number 3 it seemed like the injector wasnt actuating ( no clicking) tested good when hook up to a battery and flows freely. took a spare injector from a spare intake manifold i have and still runs like crap; injector doesnt actuate. problem in the plug maybe? compression check: checked all cylinders; each cylinder reads 100; still breaking in engine after rebuild. i feel like i might have been a little misleading here but we did get the car to run, it just runs ruff and the number 3 acts like its not firing at all. pulled the wire while the engine was running and there was no change in idle speed. pulled a different wire and the car almost dies. the only remaining problem i believe is with the number cylinder. i just dont get why the engine would run like a million bucks right after the overhaul, then slowly start to go to crap.
  19. no kidding. we got it all together and running last night. she runs way better then she ever did before. used that other crank from the other engine like i said we were going too. we got an aftermarket oil pressure gauge hooked up and installed so i can keep an eye on the oil pressure. yeah, im not getting rid of her now. hahaha. yeah. SUBARU FOREVER <3
  20. well, here's what i found out. the number 4 con. rod bearing went and also we measured the journal and it was out of round. i have anther crank that we will be putting in there. we also took a look at the other con. rod bearings and mains and they have damage from lack of oil. here's how: when i rebuilt the engine i hot tanked all the parts to clean them. i took out the oil pressure relief valves on the cam carriers and was unaware of the situation for the first 350 miles of break in. i was also running only 6 psi of oil pressure when fully heated up, and about 18 psi when first started while cold. ( i got my PSI numbers by hooking up a oil pressure gauge)
  21. oh, like a idiot, i forgot about you. yeah, we didnt find anything up in the bell housing, so that was all good. the clanking sound at first didnt sound bad at all (not like it does now) the sound in the video was before the fit hit the shan and something definitely went wrong. ok, but also the sound in the video pretty much went away while driving. i didnt get that part. yeah, sorry about that. i did read it but missed that part. yes, this could definitely work, but if there's any damage to the crank i'll use my other crank. i have a whole nother engine (the one that was in the car when i bought it) but it has a crack in the number 3 cylinder wall. also, its not exactly my only car. my family has 8 daily drivers on the insurence; its just that the Subaru is technically and legally my car. i bought, all my own money is into it, and all my own work is into it. adding to this post: pulled the engine, took off the oil pan, and found excessive play on number 4 connecting rod. replacing all bearings; again.
  22. dude, i was just thinking about this today. the whole thing that got me started on Subaru's was my 1987 Subaru GL. it has the 1.8 liter hitachi carburated engine with a dual range 5 speed. damn i wish i had never sold that car. also, i think we should get back on track, this is starting to look like a chat room
  23. well, thanks for accepting the apology. my buddy and i had the engine out in 1 hour 4 minutes flat. we timed it. trust me, i know what thats like. i have a PS3 and those little kids can actually make ME cry.
  24. ok well next time do it a little better in a way i can more easily understand, and dont go cuss words a'blazin, K? oh, and FYI, the only reason my grandparents helped me in the first place is cause they do love me (something most people work themselves out of with there grandparents) and didnt want to see me go to jail or get landed with a felony. they own 45 rental properties and was about to turn out like one of those dumb rump roast tenets, and they didnt want to see that. i learned my lesson and have been having to work my rump roast off every day since the ordeal to pay them back. sorry i flamed back. i flip when people give me ************, i've had tough rump roast life. (ha, who hasnt?)
  25. embarrassment? im not the one who went and tried to flame someone when they didnt know what they were talking about. well, now that thats over. i just wanna close by saying we have the engine out. we didnt have the right bolts to put the engine on my engine stand right now, so that will get done tomorrow, and we'll pull the pan and check out the guts. now i just wanna make clear that im not bashing Subaru or trying to piss anyone off when i said im gonna get out of the Subaru stuff. i still love Subaru and always will, its just that even though im a kid, i out of shape, overweight, and went through a heat stroke 2 years ago and just cant take ************ like i used too. i allow myself to get pissed off at stuff to easily when its not necessary, and flip out over little things. i have issues; who doesnt?
