  1. How about a 215/75/15 Geolander ATS? Did some measuring and the 742s would be in the top of my rear strut, but think the 215/75/15 should work. They will probably be kissing the rear strut but think it's a go, if anyone is running a set let me know.
  2. It's getting close to tire time on the 99 SUS. It's hard making decisions now that I suffer from RWMIMS, but was wondering if anyone has tried to stick the 7.00x15 Yokohama on a Subaru yet. I've been running 205/75/15 Liberators without problems since it has a Subtle lift. May just go back to a 205/70 Geolander ATS. Just asking.
  3. Where does one find good quality parts? We live in the sticks and not much selection around here.
  4. Master Pro Select 100% new is what the box says, but it also says Made in China so most likely junk. I'm not to up on CV joints, am more into old swing axle reduction box systems like in my 60 VW truck. Why would a CV joint rattle things about if the car is not moving?
  5. RPM right at 750 once it's warmed up according to the dash. No wrecks, had the CV shaft under the cat replaced and a Bosch O2 sensor.
  6. The 2006 Outback rumbles and roars sitting at intersections while in gear, slip it into neutral and is smooth. On older cars there was a switch or something that would fix such a problem and was wondering if there was such a thing on the Outback. Any ideas, or educated guesses? Thanks.
  7. I need to replace the transmission mounts on my 85 BRAT 4 speed. Can I just wiggle and jiggle them in, or do I have to pull the tranny?
  8. Thanks for all the good input, don't know if all the advice is making the decision easier or more difficult. The mileage may be the biggest factor for I am quite cheap. Thanks so much.
  9. Considering selling my 99 SUS to buy a 2002 Outback sedan with the six cylinder. They said the engine was replaced at 60k and the car now has 180k, I'm not at all familiar with the sixes. Anyone have thoughts they would like to volunteer, and would I have to run premium gas in the six cylinder engine?
  10. Clod got some KYB N.O.S. (new old shocks) put on today that I picked up on the Bay.
  11. Never mind, I switched to my Haynes manual and it told me what I needed. Think I'll throw that other manual away.
  12. Changing the valve cover gaskets on my 1985 ea 81 BRAT. Had plans to adjust valves, but valve cover has a sticker that says do not adjust, surely not hydraulic valves. Also it looks like the Japanese have the exhaust valves on the inside, opposed to the outside as my old VW's, so are the exhaust valves innies instead of outies?
