  1. Can I tow a Subaru on a tow dolly? I need to move one. The car is a 96 Outback auto trans. But if I had looked it up first I may have found out my answer, do reply if you have any further info, maybe I should unhook the rear driveshaft to be safe.
  2. Ditto! I used to run an auto repair shop and found it fun (let alone very helpfull !!!) to hear all the noise imitations... does it click, clack, bump, bang, tick, thump, creak, pop, grind, or groan, etc. Does it sound like a cat whose tail is under a rocking chair or is it more like the chirping of a red wing black bird during mating season???
  3. Thanks for all the help, I knew I found the right place! This looks like it could be a fun place to hang out! Maybe later I will see if it is possible to lift and hop up one of these things!
  4. I had a problem similar to this with mine and I had a caliper sticking on one side, the brakes felt fine when used, I could not feel a pulsation but it made the front end wobble!
  5. Hello, I have a chance to buy both a 96 and 98 Outback, as I dont have the cars side by side I am wondering if there were any significant changes in those years or will the majority of parts bolt right up? I am looking to use the 96 for sheet metal, wheels, etc for the 98. Thank you.
  6. Hello all, I have some experience riding in the 80's Subarus but have only owned my 98 Forester for a couple of years. I currently have the oppurtunity to buy both a 96 and 98 Outback, I intend to use the 96 for parts on the 98, I showed up here 'cause it looks like the place to find out lots of good info on parts interchange as I haven't seen both cars together but I think they must be nearly identical (But having spent 18 yrs. in the car buisness I know that is all but impossible!). I think I'm pretty well hooked on the Soobs I even tried to talk my wife into trading in her '02 Mustang ragtop for a newer Forester, she likes the Outback better. Sooo, I guess I have a project car to get on the road before snow flies in western new york, did I mention its deer season? She will need to be patient, are Mustangs as good in the snow as Subarus? Talk to you soon!
