  2. No, it cannot. And BTW, I just remembered another thing. That o-ring is not the input shaft seal. The seal is inside the input shaft housing. The entire assembly, from input shaft splines to that first gear comes out as one piece. Then you disassemble the entire thing on the bench. The seal is inside of it.
  3. You cannot get to it from the front dude. Get it through your thick skull. Here is your proof. Notice the slot on the machined surface that the input shaft housing sits in. Here is an idea of the normal tools you will need. And the one not-so-normal tool you will need.
  4. I dont have part numbers. I just told the dealer parts guy what I needed, and he had them for me the next day. IIRC the front seal is just a large thin O-ring. You really should remove the retainer on the pass side. Otherwise when things go back together you are stressing the bearings when you torque the case halves together. Ill get a few more pics up shortly.
  5. Regardless of what it may look like, you cannot access the seal without splitting the case. BTW, I got your PM. There are only a few seals involved. I replaced axle seals, axle nut O-rings, input shaft seal, shifter seal, and output shaft seal. Everything else is sealed using RTV. I use permatex "right stuff"
  6. Case has to be opened to get to the seal. Its not fun. I did it a while back on my GL Info and pics are int his thread http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=119848
  7. Maybe for a 27", but not for 14" 195/75R14 is available right now on tirerack:headbang:
  8. yeah, he is talking about trans mounts. Still available from Rockauto BTW
  9. The struts have adjustable coil spring hats. Pic for reference... The strut on is adjustable. Bottom one is not.
  10. brought my '84 GL into the shop for some work. One of the rear wheel bearings has been making noise for a bit. And shoes have been wearing funny. Bad cylinders. So both rear hubs got some love today. New rear wheel bearings, seals, brake cylinders, shoes, and treated the rear end to synthetic gear oil. Adjusters were torn apart and serviced. A bit of house cleaning as well. Backing plate was removed, blasted, and repainted. Drums got a fresh coat of caliper paint. Shocks were removed and repainted as well.
  11. Yeah, READ the error. That isnt an error generated by this program. That error is given when you try to do a VIN check from an isolated dealer inventory. Some dealer sites do not tie to the actual VIN check, they only search within their active inventory. As in, all the cars they currently have on the lot. Like I said, operator error. Just like anything, you have to pay attention and learn a bit to make it work better. Not all dealer pages search the national database. So not every google hit is going to work. But to say it is getting over-used, or things are "tightening up" is hogwash.
  12. Operator error. It is still working great for me. I JUST checked it. With the only exception being the very first google hit, It worked for 5 consecutive hits.
  13. The only way that would work is if each and every dealer in the US was set up with access permissions. That isnt going to happen. There are FAR too many dealers for that to be even worthwhile, or even care to worry about it.
  14. No reason for it to be. This is utilized nation wide for dealers. It is revolving. You cannot "over-use" it, nor do I see any reason why it would stop. Every dealer gets daily and weekly update links via email to do these.
  15. Yep. The ground was bare 2 days ago. Now Ive got 10 inches, with another 8-10 on the way!!
  16. Wax is really the only option. And something I do to all my rigs before winter hits. Covers will cake with snow and ice WAY faster than the class sealed beams.
  17. Bosch bits are not made in germany. Most are made in China. Some are made in the USA. Hey, the Chinese ones are without a doubt made with STEEL that CAME from the USA
