  1. As old as it is Giant, and depending how the float mechanism works, you might get lucky just by dropping the tank, removing the float and sending unit, cleaning it up, and throwing it back together. Then again, it may just be a brass float, with a pin-hole:grin:
  2. My "shop" is an overbuilt garage attached to my house that has piles of tools and equipment. Shhhhhh...... Dont tell anyone
  3. Good deal. Just let me know if you need help. I do a lot of side work in my shop. Im open to anything just as long as I dont have a project in there at the time. Even then, Ive got a huge driveway. And you are welcome to tools, as long as they dont leave my property! Is that the one I saw on craigs list down in Kamiah?
  4. Check the fuse for the choke. You might have grounded the circuit out during the swap. If the fuse is good, you need to find yourself a multimeter and start testing leads. I cannot remember which went where. I do seam to remember that the blue lead WAS for the choke. if you ARE getting power to the choke, either the choke is bad, or simple needs to be adjusted.
  5. Awesome find! Giant, Im right across the state line in Moscow. Give me a holler if you need some help getting her 100%. Ive got a shop and am always willing to help get an old girl back on her feet. Ive got the cleanest GL in town. You might have seen it/me around.
  6. I replaced the throttle cable on my GL this morning. Not fun. Having the twin cable (cruise control) setup made it a PITA to fabricate the correct cable.
  7. A quick update. Pardon the crappy cell phone pic These things are damn bright 5" 100watt pencil beams off road lamps.
  8. mmm, ruuuuusssssttttt Hopefully you have enough intact steel to weld to for the repair. That looks like a project.
  9. Mine come off every time I give the car a bath. They come off with the pry end of a tire iron. I smack them softly with a rubber mallet to reinstall. If they havnt been off in a while smacking them with a rubber mallet might help. That should help break the bond they have with the wheel. Then pry them off. Dont be surprised that the paint the wheels is horribly scraped up from the beauty rings once you have then off. Scrapes are inevitable. I usually scrub the wheels good, then hit them with spray wax to fend off as much corrosion as I can.
  10. It slips right into the factory bumper mounts, and is bolted to the unibody using factory hardware. Sorry, they are spoken for, and will be going on a '84 Brat here in town.
  11. It sure can. Skid plate must be removed, and if your car still has the splash shields, removing then will help. All of the bolts are accessible. The rears are accessible using a long phillips screwdriver through holes in the subframe.
  12. It looks like you have a few Tan ones available. So how do I buy one?
  13. But want to keep the stock bumper... You build the KNEE CRUSHER Is it safe to say I have the only chromoly push bumper? All bolted to the factory bumper locations. 1-1/2 square tubing (body color matched) and a section of 2" SOLID chromoly round stock. Next is a set of 5" round pencil beam 100 watt lamps.
  14. Adding oil to the fuel effectively lowers the octane. So you will probably need to back the timing off a bit to avoid pinging.
  15. Any updates on this? Im still down for a TAN one
  16. I call it... The WEBERCLEANER I washed the GL too, and treated the windows to some rainX
  17. Ive got about an hour and a half into this one. Not too bad really. here are some better photos for you guys.
  18. Here is a quick walk-around guys. Though youtube really tossed the video quality into the ************ter. It was uploaded directly from my Iphone. And please dont mind the camera-man. This is the first time using the video cam on my phone.... lol Ill get some better photos later. The wife ran off with the digital camera...
  19. I could do a video walk around for the entire car. If I have a chance this weekend Ill do just that. The paint I used is a rustoleum "spa blue". I also applied a duplicolor automotive clearcoat.
