  1. I dont know about the ej20g swap, but.... Reposted from a while back..... Zirgo's are very popular in the hot rod scene. As a matter of fact, I have a couple listed for sale on another forum. Maybe you are interested? They are 10", super slim, reversible, and move a TON of air. 1340CFM EACH. Currently they are wired to plug and play for an OBD1 Ford. let me know if you are interested.
  2. Definitely the worst mating surface Ive ever had to deal with. I spent 20 minutes or so sanding it out with a block and paper. Looking much better, but I think I will have to do some JB weld filling, then sand it out again
  3. The previous owner of my '84GL Ive been chasing carb problems for a while now. Finally decided to fall in line with the rest of the crew and pony up for a Weber. I found this while tearing it down in prep for the new carb. The Hitachi looked like it had been rebuilt recently. I think the guy must have used a wood chisel and hammer to remove the old gasket material The lower gasket on the phenolic spacer wasnt sealing very well. Shhhh....... dont tell the wife. She thinks the Hitachi carb was totally shot
  4. Thats my GL Astral Beige Metallic is the color name. Some places call it Astral Gold. Color code 393 I really dig the color. Pretty classy for such an silly, ugly, retro ride
  5. Sounds like a faulty ground. Check the main ground strap from the trans to the spare tire area. Id also install another ground wire from the engine to the body.
  6. We took a week and a half for a trip back to CA for a family get-together. Logged more than 300 miles off the pavement.
  7. Sorry, I should have said drift PIN punch. I do not have any true drift punches. I find them useless, and yes, they would become stuck too. All of my drift punches are technically drift pin punches. No taper, at all.
  8. Thats because you are using a standard punch, instead of a drift punch.
  9. Check the shocks, they might have been damaged somehow when unloading. They might be jammed up.
  10. It isnt off a tooth. If it is close, but not quite 100%, then it is 180-out. been there, done that. And damn glad I tried putting the pins in before getting the trans back in and everything bolted back together.
  11. Looking sharp dude. Bravo on all the hard work. It isnt easy to keep such attention to detail on a car.
  12. Did the car have AC and electric fans from the factory? If so, why could you not wire them into the existing harness? If it didnt have electric fans originally, a temp probe is what you want. No matter how it is switched though, be sure to use a relay.
  13. Cool find. Amazing to have such little rust seeing all of that growth on it. Where was it parked, in a rainforest??
  14. Very cool thanks for posting! Certainly not something Id do every day. But for a local trip to a hot rod show. Hells yes!
  15. Miles, as far as paint goes Ive had amazing results with Duplicolor's line of wheel paints. And you are right, ANY kind of paint on the trans would help it remain cleaner. They used to just have a traditional silver, but they now have a few more colors. They have a cool bronze now. I used it to repaint my vintage road bike, and everyone assumes it is powdercoat. I painted the intake, valve covers, and a few other under-hood parts of my SHO Taurus years ago, and they are still looking top notch. Very hard, scratch resistant, and chemical resistant. SHO Road Bike
  16. Why even bother with anything but Bosch? Rockauto has BOSCH Part # 3400 listed all day long at $3.45. Thats a hell of a lot cheaper than he Fram PH2825 @ $4.41, and you know you are getting a good filter. I have a CASE of the Bosch filters sitting on the shelf in the shop. Considering I only drive my cars enough for one oil change a year, I think Im covered for a while.
  17. We went to a wedding in the gorge near Portland. We made it into a camping weekend. That photo is from Beacon Rock state campground. Pretty nice place. And being pretty early in the season, it was VERY quiet.
  18. As I said, it needs to be GROUND off. I used an angle grinder. Then us a punch or drift to remove the rivet.
  19. One side of the rivet need to be ground off completely to remove the rivet. You re-use the mounts. Did your new struts come with pins and clips?
