8" Lift Camber for an 84 Wagon?
Resortx replied to Resortx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Lol. It is geometry and there is a reason everyone cuts the strut extensions at 14-15 Degrees. I have seen pictures of wagons with bad camber problems. easier to ask then build one wrong and have to cut more steel. I am doing EA82 Control Arms and 10.5 31"s. As well as building a frame for it. I want it to be a big wagon. I have access to a full machine shop including a laser cutter. Already drew up the Diff drop plate and strut extension plates in draft site. and cutting everything this week. I want it to be a nice lift. So if there is anything you guys can help me with it would be much appreciated. Gotta learn somewhere right? -
8" Lift Camber for an 84 Wagon?
Resortx replied to Resortx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
So pretty much the same as for a 6" lift? -
How many degrees should I cut the strut extensions at for an EA81 8" Lift? I have searched but all I can find is 8" EA82 Wagons.
-
Aww man. That will be a sad day. Yeah Ill have to come get the specs.
-
Ok I've got that much down. But its 6" on the inside of the strut tower right?
-
Woah! Mugs is that down in spokane's ORV Park? I have seen so many of those frozen lakes with cars stuck in them haha.

I dunno if I posted this before. I was going to see if there was someone that could help me out with a lift. I live in Spokane and have all the steel for the lift but I need dimensions on the cuts for a 6" Lift. I have scoured the forums in search for specs. I have a bunch of 6x2 inch steel and I was going to cut 12 of those at 2 inches a piece. Sound right? And for the strut towers here is a pic. I really want to get my soob lifted but I am broke right now as I am saving money for a wedding. I don't know which part is suppose to be 6 Inches either. If anyone can help that would be great. I need dimensions as well. I have an 84 Subaru Wagon I would be willing to trade for help/trade for a lift also. Just let me know. Here is a pic of the wagon I would trade. Seats are destroyed. Needs an engine. Let me know if interested.

Well not pics but how about a video? I bought it off subafly for $100 dragged it home. stuck another engine and swapped a few parts and I only have about $250 including my transferr fees, tabs, tune up, and new heater hoses. Win?

Oh YEAH!!! 3rd Gen Ludes are the only Honda's I will ever drive. I have an 89 Si that I daily drive and my Soob is my is my offroad toy/ winter driver. But anyhow welcome to the board. Oh and don't forget it has one the the FIRST and LAST fully mechanical 4WS systems in any car ever made, handled better than most cars of its time and better than most cars made nowadays. w00t and 89 wins =) I have yellow fogs.

Alright guys... So I was wondering if anyone had specs for lift blocks. I am planning to do 2x2x6 Blocks and just tie them all together with 1x2 or 2x2 Tube. Also planning on boxing them all in too. Ive been checking out the forums searching for exact specs to drill the holes for the blocks but I can not find anything. Should I just drill them all right in the center? As well what are the od dimensions for the strut tower pipe? I have 5 1/2 inch od pipe to use. Too big? could you use square tube or no? And its a 22 degree angle cut right? Cut it like /=/ or like this /=\? As well I need the specs for the plates that go in between and the dimensions. It would go alot quicker to cut everything at once. I have access to a full machine shop and don't have a whole lot of cash otherwise id just buy a sjr lift. I have a 1/4 inch thick and 5.5 od pipe i was going to use for the struts. Sorry for all the questions I just really want to get my soob lifted asap.

Yeah, I got it on there last night and it wasn't too hard either. We cut the old bumper mounts off and welded a 5" 2x1 tube into the groove for the bumper mount. It fit nice and flush. Then we held the bumper in place with a jack stand where we wanted it and tack welded the bumper to the mounts. Took it off and welded it up for good. Anybody ever attached a hitch to a bumper like that? Ill post pics when I get the front bumper on. My plans are to build a winch plate on a hitch that way I can mount it on the front or the rear.

Awesome!!! We need to get a wheelin crew together here in Spokane!!! Im up on the Northside and am in the works of a lift right now. Let me know if ya need any help wrenchin on it. -
Haha Alright Ill probably end up resurfacing the heads and calling it good... Pulling the engine hopefully before snow falls and doing the rear main as well as headgaskets and than its going in my old wagon.
-
I love subaru's! They are so easy! And they put so much effort into the design as well... They thought it through until the end for us to convert that spare tire holder into a tool shelf and all... I kinda think they knew that most of us would end up with our spares on the roof. Haha
-
Haha Alright. Yeah they don't know too much about them old subaru's so im sure they would take offers. He said he popped the hood and thought "Holy Crap!!! I've never seen one of them before! Lets grab it!!! Haha Im sure they would probably take less for it if ya talked to them... Hey DLEX do you know Todd and Randy I take it than? If so that is awesome. They are pretty cool people.

Whats up!? Just posting to see how many fellow Subaru'ers are around these parts and if anyone ever needs any help wrenchin on something im up for it! Subaru's, Honda's, Toyota's etc. I know my way around Honda's and Yota's Pretty well especially MKII and MKIII Supra's / 2nd and 3rd Gen Preludes. -Anthony

Alright Haha yeah I know how BHG's go I've had a few MKIII Supra's and those are a BHG Mess. Haha Subaru's are ridiculously tough from what I have seen compared to most cars. Ill be pulling the heads though for sure and have a shop check them out. I have another engine out of my other one that I will probably yank out and drop into this one though. Probably do the rear main on that block too.

So I just picked up Subafly's old 84 4x4 Wagon. He said it he was driving it one day and it just lost power. So I got it started and oddly enough it ran freakin perfect and made power and all for about 5 minutes. Shut it off and tried to start it up again and it ran like crap and didn't want to idle. I checked out the oil and sure enough the oil was nice and milky.Anyway possible that block sealer would do the trick? Somebody said that it could be intake manifold gaskets as well? That and can I go with felpro headgaskets? Need to have the heads checked? I've heard crazy stories about people driving these things up to 10,000 Miles on a BHG. The car has got 240k on it.
-
Alrighty Sweet Anyways. He wants 275ish for them. So if anyone wants them let me know. AH! and actually I went out there and checked it out again today and the car is still there!!! So they still have the heads!!! I think other guy is right about them being ea71 carbs possibly though because it is a older gen brat. Don't know alot about the brats so don't know exact year.
-
Ah and it's awesome to see another USMB member here in Spokane. I see mostly everyone is over towards the coast.
-
Really? Ah weird. Cause he said it came off of a 80 something brat. I checked it out awhile ago and it had an ea81 in it. Sadly the car was crushed a few months back... So no more heads.
-
Well anyone interested? Let me know. Got a buddy that has some. No heads I don't think though. I can look around and see if I can find them though. Hopefully he still has the car out there.
