  1. Yes, you can use any old hose, I used regular bulk heater line on mine, works just fine, and haven't had any problems with it. You will be hard pressed if you want to find a stock like replacement, cause even the dealer told me that they just use bulk stuff to replace those, unless you got one used, and that wouldn't be a good idea. Just rotate the outlet port on the intake, then run the hose in front of the T-stat housing, and back into the turbo.
  2. Hit up home depot, they have a good number of different sizes of rubber connectors for attaching different sized pipes and stuff. Jes check out the plumbing area, typically around the ABS.
  3. Here ya go Jason, decided to kill a little time (put off sleeping) to play around with your car. Since you didn't really specify what kinda accents you wanted, I threw in some of my own flare. (BTW, drawing flames by hand on a car=easy, drawing flames on a computer with a trackball=hard!) Plus that was about a pain in the butt, first time I've attached sumpin (that I can remember), and there are a lot of rules about attachments. Holy cow. First time the file was 400K, that of course will never happen!
  4. Ya, but it doesn't count when you almost roll a rig in your driveway. Maybe parking where the 3door was isn't such a good idea.
  5. Super sweet projects? Tony? No way, I could never imagine.... Oh ya, plenty of time before next years show. I'm already planning on a run in the mud pit this springish. I'm thinking thats far enough in the future that most projects should be done, or at least drivable by then...
  6. Sweet!!! Sure, you 82 guys have to buy 8 to make things quite, but I have to have 12!!! We're talking almost 700 bucks from the dealership!!! Here, I can get away with like 70 bucks!! Oooh ya baby!! uhuhuh. Thanks Garn!!
  7. I guess I"m pretty lucky in the fact that the dealership in my area has a pretty good service deparment. The guys working in there have been for the last 20 years, so they know about the older rigs, and the parts guys are amazing, when I asked about a dash for my 84 Turbo, they tried the computer, then the book, and make about 15 minutes worth of phone calls, they actually came up with 3 new ones, and 5 rebuilt ones, granted I had nowhere near the money the wanted for them, but the fact that they found some for me is pretty kewl.
  8. I have actually been trying to get out to your place for the last couple weeks now, but between all the stuff I got going, and work, haven't had time (and the one time I was in the neighborhood you wasn't home). I'm going to make it out there this weekend though, got some pics and video's you should check out.
  9. Hey, that looks familiar. Jes remember, when you get to the top of the hill, and let off to slow your self going down the other side, and it keeps going faster and faster. Throw it in Neutral and turn off the engine (not in that order though).
  10. Hey Mike, if all else fails, then you can head on out to Jim's. They have a couple D/r cars out there last I checked. Kinda spendy, the old guy doesn't like to give up his parts, but worth it as a last ditch effort.
  11. Huh?? I"m kinda lost, are we talking bout Autocross? or sumpin else? I think I might be tracking if you are talking bout autocross.
  12. Sounds like a plan to me, Jerry already has an axle coming from me, and with the way my schedule looks, I won't be able to get it to him until next show time. Hehe. I too am going to bring more parts next year. If'n I can find the time to make spares for everything that might break. Hehehe
  13. Welp, the last one of those that I got was for free, one of those take it out of my sight kinda deals. But that one was FT4WD and didn't have any rust, although there was no motor, everything else was there. Given off my local area's current trend of the cars and whot not, for a 2WD Turbo Sedan, I wouldn't pay more than $250, and would prolly start my bidding around $150. Your prices may vary. I've seen some people round here get up to 1200 for a Loyale car, although those are usually 4wd/FT4WD's sold to the yuppie college kids in the ski resort town.
  14. No doubt, I've always thought that myself, kinda the reason that I haven't actually gotten a grill and stuff on it yet. It definatly has that intimidation to it, spawns people to run screaming "Oh my god it's going to eat me!!"
  15. There are still people working on it. I've started tearing down one of my spent dashes, and comparing it with a rebuilt that I have here, seeing how it was fixed, and whot differences there are. Haven't found any real difference yet, other than the one that isn't working, has a couple of the curcuit lines burnt off the board. I reconnected them, but it made no difference in it. Might be something in the harder components that is replaced in the rebuilds. We'll let everyone know when we come up with sumpin though.
  16. They are spose to be like that Rick. I went through and started on this venture at one time with my 84. Real pain in the butt, and for a point of reference, I considered wireing up the 6 into the Brat a piece of cake. I got about 80% done with the project and then scrapped it for a working dash. I like the digital personally, and would rather have it than the analog. Of course I know eventually I will need to learn how to rebuild these buggers (have 3, so can do the trial and error thing). If all else fails, there is a shop down here that does do that conversion for you. I dunno how much though, never bothered to ask.
  17. Ohkay, I finally got off my butt and here is a link to my gallery for those that don't want to actually look for it. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=579 There are a few pictures in there, to the tune of a hundred and sumpin. I wasn't in control of my camera's for about 98% of the time, as I was either muddin, showin my rig, or talking with people about theirs, so the little brother and wife did the pic thing for me. Wish I had more though, I got to the show with 10 disks, and left with only 5 full, so I'm a little bummed... oh well, next year, I'll actually go out there and take pics.
  18. Hey Jerry, I got a couple pretty good pics, here ya go: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=1507&sort=1&cat=579&page=4 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=1506&sort=1&cat=579&page=4 And here is one from Skunkaroo http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=1624&sort=1&cat=500&page=2
  19. I agree, it was pretty good putting some new faces to names, even if the name I can remember is only the screen name. Although there are some people that I only do have a face for, cause I can't remember their name or screen name, most notably, the guy with the black XT-6. One cool guy, although, tried way to hard to cut in front of me in the line to the mud corral. Hehe, one thing I'm pretty sure of, most people shouldn't be able to forget me, or my name, one of the reasons for such a simple screen name, that and my Brat is pretty recognizable, even in a large crowd.
  20. No doubt, doubleing the numbers in one year would be killer. To help, I think I will bring the whole family. Gotta lot of work to do, and only a year to do it though, so I better go.
  21. This is definatly one tight rig. It's quite interesting to see such a huge XT6. I really wanted to climb into the drivers seat and take a gander from way up there, but didn't get around to it. Some other time I guess. For those of you that want an idea of the shear size of this thing, here ya go:
  22. Hmm, the question of the day is how much is it going to cost to keep that footage from being released? Heheh. Don't mind at all. People get stuck, people break things, if you don't break sumpin, then you musn't be havin that much fun. You can send that out, but only in trade for that Brat pulling out the other rather well known Brat, twice.
  23. Yikes, that was some thick gooey mud. I was too tired and too big of a hurry to get home to spend the time it would take to clean out my wheels. So I just kept it above 60 which ironically the shacking stopped at. Under 60 though, man, felt like she was comin apart. And once again, thanks to everyone. And if I don't see ya before then, then see ya at WCSS7.
  24. No doubt, that was some of th emost fun I've had in such a small area of mud. I do have to admit that I am a better pic taker than my little brother. Here's the best shot of me: And of course some knarly breakage: Unfortunatly you can only see one of the fracture lines, there are three more going around it. I did this and popped the welds in the diff. and had a blast doing it too.
  25. Definatly, I am more glad I didn't miss this years show more than anything. Certainly a great time. A big thanks to Ken and Eric, but don't forget John and his crew, also everyone else that volunteered out there too. Working that rally course in the hot sun had to suck. Thanks to everyone that showed up as well. It was our support, and numbers that showed SOA that they should jump in and give us a hand. And of course thanks to Subaru for giving us such a great car!!!!
