I've got my pics up and going in the board gallery, if you click in, I'm like the second highest poster in the main gallery page, then jes go to WCSS6 folder, I'm way too tired to deal with figureing out cut and paste. I also apologize if I didn't name some of the pictures, or named them wrong or whot not. tired, must sleep, had too much fun, now I know why we only do this once a year, this much adventure and excitment can be hazardous to ones health if given in high doses. Oh ya, also on the broke note, in the whole driving home in FWD thing, just as I'm pulling in the driveway, I hear this click, click, click, yup, front axle, (of course, that all thats in it), but here's the best part, it's the brand new I just put in when I got to Hood River on Friday, only 400 miles on it. Wowza, talk about bad luck with axles. Oh ya, I gott hand outa a big thanks to Jerry, for letting me break one of his axles all for the glory of spraying down the crowed with a good doughnut. Thanks!!!

Welp, I'm back from my second WCSS, and I must say, regardless of the fact that I just spent 7 hours on the road, broke my Brat repeatedly in several different way, and have a mild sunburn (wife has an almost severe sunburn), I had a freakin blast. This was by far better than my first trip north (WCSS2), the organization, the events, Everything was awsome!!! Met up with a lot of old friends, and met a lot more new ones, as well as some awsome cars (can we say one of the Gen I winners?). I think the best thing about this years show was the mudpit/obstacle course. This had a bit a design and ingenuity in it, and was prolly the most popular event at the show, everyone was running through the mud, we had everything from Us extreme lifters, down to a WRX ralley car and everything in between (The Forester looks good with mud on it Amanda). I had a blast out there, I broke a rear axle right off at the beginning of the obstacle run, got out, found another axle and went out to give the adience on the fence a good spray of mud, just after one of the sweetest doughnuts I pulled some major carnage and simultaniously grenaded the just replaced axle, and the rear diff. Pretty sweet if you ask me, no better display of power than destroyed parts. I'll have my pictures up within the next hour or so, got quite a bit of em.
  3. Ohkay, here's the dillio, we're gonna meet up here at my place around 9ish, from here we can finish load up, gets things settled and do a comms check. We'll leave out from here between 10-11, I'm aiming more for the 10 side of things, the Brat is already loaded and ready to go, Bek's car should be packed before ya'll get here, so we should theoretically be ready to leave by 9. Head out about 10 into Grants Pass, do a fuel up there (1.98gal) get together any other needed items (ice, drinks, pee break) then hit the road. We'll stop when needed (A&W!!!) and roll straight into Hood River. Should get there between 5 and 6 plenty of time for the cruise!!! So see ya'll in the mornin.

  5. Ohkay, looks like we got two options here, as we will be, for the most part, our own convoy, if we meet up with others along the way kewl. But I want to know if we want to stay the night in Bend, or gor for the cruise in Hood River?? We've got two ways to do this.. We can go straight up the five, this puts us at about 340ish miles, so about 5 to 6 hours, depending on stops and whot not. This is the short quick way, if'n we leave about 10-11 like I"m pushing for, that will put us in about 4-5, plenty of time for the cruise. The alternative is the Bend route. This is bout what we're looking at around 320 miles, and possibly 6-7 hours driving time. Going through K-falls would be a bit backwards, it would be better to head out 62 up towards diamond lake and hooking up with 97 up there. It would be broken up in betwwen, so around 3-4 hours driving then another 2-3. So the five is a little longer drive, but faster and quicker. Also more boring, less sights to see, and more heavily traffic'd, specially since it's like the last weekend of August, everyones going to be out there. The Bend route we miss the cruise, but have a little slower run, more relaxing, more sights, cooler less crowded drive, least after we get through the lake country. I've got tonnes of maps and stuff going on on my computer right now, it looks like I'm planning a friggin war!!! Anyways, lemme know what ya'll think, and hey, my phones are in my back pocket!~!~!
  6. So are we going to stop in Bend, or blow all the way through to HR?? If so, this will dictate when we should leave and which route to take. ALso are we going to hook up with the southern guys anywhere. Seems that I always forget about thing until the last minute, and this seems to be a pretty big one that I left out.   7. supposedly the weather is gonna be sunny and in the mid 80 this weekend in Hood River, sounds like it should be pretty nice. I hear ya on the rain though, it's been muggy since I got home last weekend. Not that I mind the rain, it's just that it's been in the 90's and raining, so really really humid!
  8. Ohkay, gettin the Brat up and ready for the drive North for the show, no prob. One of the biggest things is that I didn't want to show it off with the lifter clickin, so I go for a pump seal, in the process I decide to do the T-belts. Woah!! I did the belts on the wifes car and it came out to less than 200 bucks for both belts and the tensioners, EVERYTHING!! I'm half expecting the same, as the 2.7 is virtually the 1.8 with two more cylinders, WRONG!! The belts are different to start with, the drivers side is 50 bucks ALONE!! And don't even thing about the tensioners, and idlers, the only place that had em was Subaru, and they wanted over 600 bucks for everything!!!! DANG. Of course this isn't the first time I've been hit with the price of more power, in putting in the motor I needed intake gaskets, and had to pay almost 3 times what a set for the EA81 costs. Lotsa stuff either you just can't get, or have to pay out the butt for. Hmm, oh well, the power to cash trade off hasn't hurt too much yet, I have way more power than I personally thing I've paid for thus yet. If I do have to shell out any huge bucks for it though, I'm thinking I might just go with a 3 liter, they still make those so I know parts are available. Thats my little rant for the day, and remember, only one more shopping day till WCSS!!!
  9. Dunno if spare parts will do any good, knowing Moose's love all things vintage, he's prolly working with a VIC20 and an analog dialer. hehehe. Seriously though, hope he gets back on soon, seems different around here without em.
  10. So how many of you are planning on making the run up to Hood River on Friday, to get there for the cruise and stuff. We here on the Oregon side of the boarder have less of a drive so it won't be a problem for us, if ya'll are up for it. I personally would like to get to HR by 6ish that night, a huge cruise of Soobs would an awsome event I don't think I want to turn down.

Me n' the Crew are ready to jump on over to K-falls or straight up the Five, either way works. I am really diggin on the whole K-falls to Bend idea though. So jes lemme know when and where!!
  12. Nah, it's not that hard to pull off, just depends on how you bobbed it, where it was cut, and how you want the gate to function. If you want some ideas though, you can take a look this weekend, I'll have my tailgate down.
  13. Alrighty!! I'm home, and getting things ready for the road, have we come up with a where and when everyone is meeting. I just need to know when to hit the road for K-Falls and where everyone is going to be at!! HeeYaa! only 3 more days to go!
  14. Ohkay, I've run into a little problem here, I knew that that ER27 had a different tensioner set up than the EA82, but didn't know exactly how to work with it. Welp, I've dove into the motor, head first without checking the depth first. Everything went fine untill I went to put the right (drivers) belt on, and I have no idea how to collapse the adjuster to get the new belt in there. I don't have a book that covers XT-6's and no on in town has one in stock, I need to get this put together TOMARROW!!! (only 3 shopping days untill WCSS!). I remember'd picking up a PDF of the factory manual covering the engine a while ago, but after checking the computers it doesn't seem to be on either!! If anyone has this it would help immensly!! Thank for the help though.
  15. 71?!! Hmm, all of mine have water crossovers like an 81, might be that all mine are 80 and newer. Ya, just check the cylinder walls to see if there is crosshatch in there, if it's very dominate then I'd call it good, clean it up and slap (metaphorically speaking) back together and call it good.
  16. Sometimes EA82's do get stuck on there pretty good. I've used just a standard 2 jaw puller, if you look at the wheel, there are actually slots in there for one of this type. Or, If I remember correctly, the bolt is an M12 1.0 pitch thread. So what you can do is get a nut to match the steering column, and one to match the wheel puller, and just weld the two together. And then use a standard wheel puller. Or, you can just take the nut off, grab the wheel, put your chest on the wheel, and wrap your arms around it grabbing your shoulders with your hands, then plant your feet well on the end of the floor board, then yank on that thing with all you got, usually takes 2, but I've had some that didn't come untill the 4th try. This method sucks the worst when your in a wrecking yard, and the car doesn't have a seat in it. Either way, lotsa luck.

Doesn't sound like you've really lost water, if the fan was on with it fast idleing, there is no problem there, it will actually be a little better because the water pump will pump the water faster. I've left my Brat running for a couple hours with no problems. (Subaru's are multi-purpose, they serve as generators too). If it didn't over heats and boil out when you were sitting on the freeway, then it would be fine too. As for the dipstick, that ain't a problem either, with the hood on, and the airflow through the engine compartment, you don't get much water that even makes it too the dipstick, I've driven my rigs in the most horrendous rain storms before, open the hood to check the oil and the engine was still dry. As for longevity, the wifes 3dr has almost 200K on it, and she ain't the nicest driver by any means. I don't think I have a rig to date with less than 150K on it, although there only 1 that has the stock, or unrebuilt motor in it, and that is the 3dr. So unless your actually boiling over, I wouldn't worry, although do check the water occasionally, I check mine every couple of weeks and throw a little in there to top it off. You do lose a little naturally.
  18. The pump is the same (as so many things are) between the EA81T and the EA82, I've actually got a new EA82 pump going on my freshly rebuilt EA81T. The only prolem with a standard EA81 is that you need to either come up with a different alternator bracket, or modify the origonal one, and or make a new base plate for the 82's pump because thw holes aren't right, one or the other, I can't remember right now without fishing through the dark for parts to line up. I can have an accurate answer in the morning though.
  19. Don't look all that bad at all. Clean it up should be just fine. Get some Castrol Super Clean, stuff is awsome. One a side note, what engine is that? I haven't run into one that has the water crossover like that before.
  20. Wow, I'm kinda happy I live where I do, definatly don't plan on leaving too soon now. I see at least 1 EA81 on every other block around my house. And at least twice a day I see a Gen I (and not the one in the driveway), and at least one of those Gen I's is a Stage 1, heck one of the Roo's has 2 Stage 1's!! I have 3 Brats sitting in the drive, 2 more within half a mile of my house!! Seattle is quoted a lot as the Subaru Capital of the west coast, that may be true, but Southern Oregon is the Older Gen Capital. You can pick up an EA81 for less than 500 bucks with no problem (Got my lastest Gen II Brat for 100 bucks). My two holy grail cars that I'm looking for are a Splitgate wagon (lost the one I had lined up) and a 73 Coupe (Dude won't sell the one I did find). Although I'm pretty sure if I got the Splitgate, Paul would fly out here and flog me with a clutch cable untill I just gave it too him. And if you do make it to the states, You definatly don't have to worry about looking for, or spending the cash on a place to stay, specially on the west coast, heck, you could practically walk from Seattle to Sacramento and stay at a Soob owners house each night. My couch is definatly open to anyone passing through my neck of the woods.
  21. Sometimes I just want to sink into a dark corner and disappear, then again, I just can't quite help but lay down the law. One thing that I really hate, especially in a community such as ours that has actually grown throughout the entire world is the narrow minds of most of the Americans! There is a whole lot more world out there people. JDM cars in 83 started getting the 5spd D/r, don't believe me, dig up a JDM brochure of an 83 RX. In fact, FHI actually built AWD trannies long before 83, they just didn't mass produce them. As far as the other parts in question, the tranny will handle it what are expecting to do, split a mainshaft? If anyone was going to do that, then I think myself or SubaruBrat woulda told you guys already. The 5spd D/r is a very strong tranny, and if you wanted a 3.3:1 gear set in there, then it could prolly be done and handle it, just a matter of getting it machined right. Which is possible, cause they did have lower gears sets for the 4spd's. If I look around I think I can find someone that is actually working on putting other gearsets onto the main shafts of Soob trannies to atain lower gears at there. So instead of a 3.5 1st gear, I'm thinking something like a 4.9 or 5.1 and got up respectivly from there. It's just a matter of what you want to put the will into doing. There are only 3 things in this world that actually inhibit you from going anything. Those things are Time, Money and Imagination, you get over those 3 hurdles, and bam, your set!!. So I don't want to hear anything of this that can't happen, or that didn't happen, cause for you know, it did, or it will. And I for one will tell you, I just dare, I double dare your to Tell ME, that I CAN'T do something, come on!!!
  22. Ya guys do know that you really shouldn't encourage me too much, cause sometimes when I am pretty bored, (like at work today) I start thinking about things. One of those things was making full Brat shells outa fiberglass. I know what your thinking, this wouldn't work with a unibody, but the thing is, I make frames for Subaru's also (one of my other products), couple one of the frames with a fiberglass body, and waLah, a 2006 Brat. hehehe.
  23. Ohkay, no prob. I'm gonna be kinda stuck at home for the weekend, got lots of stuff to do before I leave, the yard is a serious mess from rebuilding my kitchen, yikes!
  24. Welp, I'm hearing nothing but good here. This weekend I"m going to get started on getting all the supplies together. I am going to try my hardest to get some stuff made up before the WCSS, display models of sorts, although they will prolly be installed on vehicles going up there. The only real problem is the fact that I only have 10 days at home to work on stuff, I leave for Co on the 5th of next month, and won't be back home until the 23rd, just days before the WCSS. But if I don't get anything made before then, it will be pretty shortly afterwards. As soon as I get all the production equipment set up, I can have stuff turned out in about a month. So if your lookin for something, lemme know at the show (or for those that can't make it) around the time of the show, and I should have stuff ready to ship by mid to late September. I will prolly have a webpage up and running about the time I get full into the swing of things. Thanks all for the support.
  25. Ya, I'm working on the whole shipping deal. Thing is, I've been all over the country, I've done a lot of things. But until recently, I've never actually sat down and thought about all the things and all the people I know. So I'm finally putting it all together, and working on a way to not only put a little cash in my pocket (which is never a bad thing, we all shoot for that), but more importantly help out the community that I love so much. I've actually had offers making parts for a honda only custom shop, after walking in and spending about 10 minutes talking to the owner (some kid like 4 years younger than me, with a mommy and daddy with WAY too much money) I couldn't bring myself to stoop down there. But I'm wandering off as I have tendancy to do. So I'm working on a way to mass ship a bunch of parts over to the left coast, one shipment would prolly consist of 5 sets of fender and 5 hoods. In about 6 months time IF I get enough orders I will have the ability to mass produce a pretty good amount of stock stuff in a pretty reasonably time (month to 6 weeks for like 20-30 fenders & hoods) provided the market is there. But I don't want to limit to just stock repros, I would love to make one or two offs for people, hoods with scoops and vents, body kits for the street guys, flared open fenders for the offroad guys. I don't want to divulge too much info, but there are some pretty sweet stuffs in the works for you RX guys out there, would make any older soobs sweet rides that may even win awards at some serious shows. As far as carbon fiber, I think I mentioned it above, I have no problem making stuff with it, as long as I can sell it (i.e. people will actually put down the green backs to pay for CF, cause it ain't exactly cheap) Also, one thing that would cost some serious bucks, that I'm working on making, something that would prolly really make the RX guys drool, how would you like to shed a few pounds, how bout that rear hatch, ever try to lift it after the shocks go out?! hehe, imagine it weighing only a 3rd to a quarter that, I'm talking CF and lexan!!!!!
